Tatiana Hargreaves (fiddle) and Allison de Groot (banjo) play "Augusta" (by Allison de Groot) and "Skye Dance" (trad. from the Isle of Skye) in the Friday night kickoff concert at the Baltimore Old Time Music Festival, April 19, 2024.
That was my initial reaction too. It turns out "Skye Dance" (aka "Harris Dance") has a B part that sounds a lot like, and could be the ancestor of, the A part of John Hatcher's "Going Up To Hamburg." See thesession.org/tunes/7653 and try the "Play Audio" button at the lower left of the sheet music.
@@keiths5155 Interesting. Thanks, Keith. I also thought that Tatianna's fiddling reminds me of Judy Hyman's playing, although since I'm just a drooling banjo player that doesn't know fiddle dynamics, I can't be sure. I think she was one of Bruce's students. Any thoughts?
