The movie itself wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but this scene. I will forever remember this scene and the impact it had on me as a child. Both the animation and the music are beautiful and very creepy.
Exactly even though I really love the original one Balto 2: Wolf Quest was really decent and I honestly do remember this song by Miru even though the wolves had songs .
21 years later and this scene still comes to mind when I think about my favorite cinematic moments of all time. It hit different when I was a kid but it’s still so good
It hit different when you were a kid but it's still good? Interesting^^ To me it's actually the other way around. I remember I loved this scene as a kid due to the whole vibe and melody etc. But now as an adult, listening to the lyrics, esspecially before the actuall song itself, hits me different than when I was a kid. I think it's still that nostalgia but now also mixed with me feeling I'm on a similar path as Alu, or in the least I am more spiritual towards the natural world around us now. So the lyrics hit me differently, they resonate more with me, in a different way :3
I thought of a theory about Muru many years ago: Later in the movie we discover that the raven, Balto's spirit guide, was his mom's spirit the whole time. So could Muru, Aleu's spirit guide, actually be Balto's dad? It certainly adds a heartwarming touch to his interactions with Aleu if nothing else. And, come to think of it, it does explain why Muru loves wolves despite being food for them. "Oh, then that is why I am not afraid of you. Why should I be afraid of one who does not know who she is?" Like a grandfather teaching a lesson to his granddaughter, teasing included. 😁
So the way Aleu keeps asking "why" "why" like a toddler and Maru gives patient answers without getting snippy, I can totally see that happening between a grandfather and a little kid 😅 this is such a good theory by the way I never thought of that!
Ominous and ambiguous, almost telling you the answers about yourself without giving them to you, inciting your curiosity about self-discovery. Handled exceptionally well, like most life lessons in animation. May not be a well remembered movie but I loved this scene when I was a kid.
When I was little this scene amazed to the point where I think it changed my life forever, it's such a mystic thing and I can constantly remember clips from this in my head
The Dippin American probably because they take longer, and require more effort to make, so the story is way more well thought out because it's harder to mass produce. It's like you kinda need to make sure you have a really good solid story that is good, because it's a lot harder to remake a scene.
Coming from someone who is aspiring to be an animator, it's the stories that make animating worthwhile. That's why cartoon movies have good messages a lot of the time.
This scene has stuck with me forever, I don't remember much about these 2 Movies others than that I had both, but I've never forgot those haunting words; "Who are you? Who are you?". I still don't know.
Rare occasion in which I actually prefer the sequel to a movie over the original. Aleu's journey is so fun and captivating, and I love the dreamy/spiritual aesthetic so much. Beautiful music, too!!
Yeah the magic and finding a place with people who didn't actually ostracize and avoid her was more meaningful to me than balto winning over assholes who hated him for no real reason
Praise for the high tide, Praise for the seaside, Praise for the sun at high noon. Praise for the lightning, Praise for the singing. Praise the Father sun, And sister Moon Praise for the red dawn, Grass that we walk upon, Praise for the river's whispered tune. Praise for the Wind Brother, Praise for the Earth Mother. Praise the Father Sun, And Sister Moon. Praise the Father Sun, And Sister Moon. Hey-ya, hey-ya, hey-ya-a-a! (Aleu howls) Hey-ya, hey-ya, hey-ya-a-a! (Aleu howls again)
I too, thank you. Always loved the first song, in my childhood. I heard a different song recently an this scene ran thru my mind. Had to look up the beginning of this scene.
Такое запоминающийся изображение космической атмосферы, чего-то высшего и неуловимого, и того, чего мне не хватает сейчас, и угасает в душе вместе с детством:(
I used to not like when at the end the mouse disappeared. It scared me as a child, I didn’t like that he wasn’t real but the first part of this scene when the mouse is singing, that song stuck in my head for a bunch of years and I couldn’t recall from where it was from and now I’ve finally found it.
@@Tyranix969 I’ve seen some people say that the ambiguity behind the scene scares them, I remember it creeped me out as a kid too because I thought Maru becoming a drawing on the wall was terrifying.. but now that I look at it now I think it’s quite interesting.
Actually, there are 3 movies. I have all 3 on DVD, but too busy binge watching CSI & watching shows on Paramount Plus, so haven't seen 3 yet. Haven't finished 2 yet either
Pretty sure it was confirmed that Maru was her spirit guide. Been a long time since I saw the movies, but that's why Maru appeared when she needed guidance the most to find her destiny with the wolves. Also why Maru went with her on the ice path rather than stay behind :>
Watching this scene again is so surreal. I remember going to my local Blockbuster and renting this movie on VHS. Constantly. It was one of the movies that made up my childhood, and that was thanks in no small part to this particular sequence. So eerie, so beautiful, and so very true.
Remember who you are dont lose sight of who you are in this busy hectic world give thanks for your ancestors and appreciate the earth and God because without it and him you wouldnt be here….I miss having my mixed wolves 🐺 their howling at night is so beautiful like singing to the moon 🌙
I'm 24, and I still sing this randomly. Really the only song I remember....loved the movie though....I love wolves and music. this just went together so dang well
I'm glad that i had movies/tv shows like this to teach me that emotion's are more affective through the physical action's . Basically a higher power exist. We all have a choice to be good or evil.
This was the one thing that I remember from this movie. I didn't even recall it until about an hour ago and didn't rest until I found it....God how young was I
Best part of the trilogy imo. The sequels may have been entirely unnecessary. But this part of Wolf Quest really hits home about anyone lost and confused about their place in life.
This movie is such a beautiful movie, this scene helped me when i was younger to discover who i am Sadly with getting older and going through stressful times it makes it hard to be yourself, but rewatching this movie gave me a sense of peace.
Every. Single. Dang. Time...every time I hear that line “Who Are You?” Repeating over and over and over... I always question that Myself. Not that I’m doubting who I am, which I never will. It’s just I have a hard time here an there figuring out what I am. (God I hope that makes since....) like am I a Fighter? a Protector? a Believer? a Wise person? am I selfless? I know it’s all of them but I can never know what my true objective is, and it kills me when I think about it. Movies back then sure knew how to make you feel that way. And I’m not complaining 💛🐺💛
I was at work today and for whatever reason the "who are you" part was stuck in my head and I couldn't for the life of me remember. I came on here just typing "who are you song" lol. By some miracle I was scrolling my head was like......"is it that balto song?" So happy I was right! I loved this movie so much as a child
Ok so balto is half wolf and half husky and when he mated with Jenna, it made All of his pups a quater wolf. Alue is more wolf than her father balto. I love this because it gives her a challenge that her dad may not be able to help with as the wolf gene skipped a generation (balto) and went to Alue instead. A truley beautiful hybrid wolf dog 🙂🤗😍🐶🐺
This was always my favorite scene in this movie; to this day, I always get shivers from the unknown beauty that the Unknown has to give. Though I am cautious of it since it is the Unknown that can hold dangers.
I forgot about this movie for many years, and some song trigger this song popping into my head, and for a long time I tried to remember the lyrics so I could remember the song. I could on remember the melody and how much I loved it
This movie is very nostalgic but this is a question I'm starting to have. Why is he there? Like I know he's singing but why in a cave alone with a bunch of crystals in the dark? It's kinda like going to the woods and finding some random guy alone singing a song with nothing but a lantern. Thinking about that makes this scene as beautiful and cool as it is weird
It was made for old box tvs so the raw fotage avalibel is much duller and bluryer then the detail desplaued on the sceen you veiwed it from. This is why they look so mutch less inpresive the details don't protect on modern flat screen.
Creepy. He was there then he wasn't. He was a freaking SPIRIT! BTW, the song is quite beautiful, but haunting. I guess it fits since the little field mouse that is singing it is a SPIRIT! Both beautiful and haunting.
@@MissJJoan lol oh hi this comment is old as heck, like I don't really even remember typing this, but HEY! Thx for responding! It's like walking down memory lane!

You make it sound like you think you can only like one thing, or that what you like defines who you are. it's not just your likes, but also your dislikes, you're a human being experiencing a constant state of change. but if you're looking for answers in the form of movies, have you seen the Kung fu Panda trilogy? As for improving multiple hobbies the sooner you get started working on them the sooner you'll get to learn more about the next one... Currently I'm procrastinating on working on my Udemy course that's supposed to teach me how to make video games.
