Star is the only one who doesn’t misjudge Balto besides Jenna and Rosy. He’s the first to point out that Balto just wants to help between the fight of him and Steele. He also helps Balto into the harness after Steele falls and doesn’t join in the bet between Nikki and Kaltag. Star also was the only one to question Steele’s leadership and seemed to trust Balto’s over his.
The musher knows that Star is deceptively smart and has stamina, and that’s why he puts Star in the 2nd position on the team (the “swing dog” and back-up leader). In real life the lead dogs are more like Star, smaller but very intelligent. A big, muscular, but simple minded dog like Steele is used as the “wheel dog”, the one closest to the sleigh and musher.
I always felt sorry for Star because he would always get hit when he got too excited or said something supportive 😞 plus I always hated Kaltag and swished that he’d shut up instead of Star 😒 Also Star is the only one besides Jenna and Rosie who didn’t make fun of Balto or misjudge him he was as much a victim and target as much as Balto plus Star was the only one who could see that Balto was only trying to help them and help them get home after he found Steele and his lost team and no one even agreed with him it’s good to see though that in the end they actually did take Star’s advise and built a statue of Balto (even though there already was a statue built but whatever) Star deserved better and he only went along with the other dogs so he wouldn’t be bullied and because he had no choice
I know Jackie Rohr from "City on a Hill" is Balto, Eddie Valiant is Boris, and Barry Hubris/Mr. Mental/Thrakkorzog/Multiple Santa is Steele but I didn't know Michelangelo voiced Star in this film.
I think the movie will be more interesting if a few things happen: 1. In the battle between Steele and Balto, Steele will accidentally kick Star away from the dog sled and he will fall down somewhere in the forest. 2. Jenna will came in the forest and she will join the dog sled, because the sled needs 1 more dog. I think it will be interesting if an idiot like Star goes away. I also think the dog sled will be interesting if Balto, Jenna, Nikki, Kaltag and the other 3 dogs bring the medicine for the sick kids.
dude what- this would be embarrassing story writing. What we see from Star is his progression from trying and failing to get validation from others, to having agency over his opinions and exercising that. He says whatever he can to fit into the in-group of the sled team, and then decides that's not what he wants anymore. Star being the worst member on the sled team, the runt of the group, the least accepted, being the one to designate Balto as the leader of the team is so powerful for both Star (who has become important to the sled team) but also to Balto (who has been accepted by the sled team). If Jenna was to join in place of Star, we would never see the values of the team change. We wouldn't see an acceptance of Balto, just him being allocated because they physically need him. If Jenna was to join the team and run perfectly fine, it would null the tension and sacrifices both Jenna and Balto made for each other during the bear scene. It would be shitty writing to do what you've suggested.
@@TryinBin8889 Jenna will not join the bear fight. She will came after the fight and she will follow Balto to the lost dog sled team. That's how she will become a sled dog and she will also save the sick kids in Nome.
@@mariodobrev3105 that's not what Jenna wants. Even without the bear fight, it still takes away from all the characters goals and developments. Shitty writing. That's why the film makers didn't do what you said
