In this animated feature, a deadly diphtheria epidemic strikes the remote town of Nome, Alaska. With the life-saving medicine located hundreds of miles away, the residents decide to send out a sled-dog team. Balto (Kevin Bacon) -- a half-wolf dog ignored by all except a goose, Boris (Bob Hoskins), two polar bears -- and beautiful husky Jenna (Bridget Fonda) is chosen to run but is disqualified by lead dog Steele (Jim Cummings). When the other dogs get lost in the snow, Balto risks his life to rescue them and deliver the medicine. #BALTO

People hated Balto for simply being half wolf. He’s never been violent or aggressive towards anyone. He’s never given them a reason to worry- but because of his genetic makeup (which he can’t control or change), they fear him. But when 2 polar bears stroll into town, they’re completely fine with it 😵‍💫🤨

To be fair, real wolf dogs are incredibly unpredictable and dangerous under the best conditions, and living as a stray all his life is not the best of conditions. Being protective of their kids around a wild animal is fairly reasonable. As for the bears... I don't know, maybe because they're still cubs.

@@Madkap42 And Polar Bear Cubs are more harmless unless they're threatened and Wolfdogs are very misunderstood dogs even if they're unpredictable.

@@Madkap42 These poor hybrid sled dogs aren't what they seem, there are times when a wolfdog is actually more helpful than a domestic one. A wolfdog doesn't mind how long a person's return home is going to take but we can't guess a domestic dog's level of patience. It even makes sense when wolfdogs do their best to try to show nervous humans with guns don't shoot me just because you fear me I'm not intending any trouble or pain.

Balto gets what he wanted: The medicine to the town, the children saved/cured and Rosy to be okay. He did not want to be a town's hero. He just wanted to do what is right thing. And as for Steele, I guess that he was forced to the earlier retirement after this. His musher did say that Steele was "losing his edge" and probably Steele leading the team into a false trail in the blizzard (maybe not fully his fault due to the blizzard but he did refuse to admit that he was lost and got everybody in the trouble out of arrogance) was a last straw that cost him everything.

Balto finally being accepted and praised as a hero, the look of joy mixed with relief on the doctor's face knowing he will now be able to save the children's lives and of course the wonderful caring nurses administering the anti-toxin to combat this dreadful disease once and for all, the three most emotionally moving aspects of this scene for me. :')

Well, he was right there, I'm pretty sure they immediately helped him. We've never seen a scene with people asking about him cause probably A. It wasn't a necessar part of the plot and B. They may have thought they were late because of the storm, not dead/lost.

The story is so good and well written you forget, WHY would the villagers immediately THINK that the howling is Balto and not some random wolf. They didn't even know he was on the trip. It doesn't matter because its literally the most cohesive ending with them knowing right when they hear the howling. It works too perfect. Yes. Yes, iam high af rn.

Logan Criss I knew about Steele’s death for a year. But that’s a deleted scene which means that it possibly never happened plus it would be way too dark and violent for children to watch or even listen to that part of the story because Steele gets hanged by his own collar and then falls into a meat shredder or something. Steele probably never died, he probably got chased out of Nome by the other dogs

as i've played death stranding and going through my second playthrough i understand they had a rough journey going from the mountains to the small town they're in i've experienced many times i've tripped and lost my cargo and have to retrieve them before completeling a delivery and i also understand under their differen circumstances they appriecate what i give them same with here with balto gives them their medicine

1995 was the beginning of computer animated films, and unlike Toy Story, this movie is a hybrid between both hand drawn and computer animation. Backgrounds were hand painted and both the human and animal characters sketched by hand, then both were put into digital scanners, and loaded into photoshop where each character was colored entirely digitally, and lighting effects were added. Softimage 3D was then used to create the 3D effects such as snow and any other fast moving object such as the sleds, and then overlayed over completed scenes.

Tip. If you want to tell if a person is exaggerating their fake story, look for the sign of repetitive words such as “I ran and I ran…” for example. Trust me, they do it to get attention.
