Once somebody placed a picture of a balut with its duck fully developed on Facebook. It had its eye open and looking at who ever was going to eat it. (dunno probably photophopped) It was like it was saying *"Eat me and I'll be in your dreams for the rest of your life."* That put me off balut for a while (say a month) after that...I was ok. That is why I say never make eye contact while eating it. By the way if you are given that kind of balut, *DO NOT EAT IT* . (caps and bold for emphasis) That is one bad balut. Ah...did I just contradicted myself?! 😊
no, it's true. it's common in the Philippines that chicks in some balut that are already developed, 😬 with feathers and bones and all. because there are times that the balut maker let the chick inside grow for too long I guess. Other people here can eat it with ease. not me tho 😅
Another bad balut, is one alre with the feathers fully developed. It get stuck in your teeth. That happened to me about 20 years ago. After a drinking session with my cousins we decided to buy balot. Dang, sobered up for I was spitting feathers in the drain.
Really? Wow! Am a Filipina but i started eating balut when i was 25, because i got low blood and my Doctor advised me to eat it. I can’t eat it with soda thou.
We were a vendor of balut when i was young, when my father was healthy and alive.so sad he's now in heaven. Me and my siblings went to college supported with this balut until we graduated. Sometimes in a year we cannot get balut to sell for the whole month or more so my father used to drive a "padyak" or a cycle with a side-wheel to take passengers. Just enough for us to eat 3 meals in a day and an allowance for going to school. Now i am a seaman. Yeah! thanks to my father
Before he died I got a chance to talk to him while he was in a coma or something similar because he was just asleep and snoring but whenever my mother feed him he opens his mouth a little bit. I was onboard a ship,I called him by phone with the earphone in his ears and tearfully told him how thankfull i am to him and how I love him before he died 2 days after. He died because of diabetes and undergone dialysis 2 times a week until we ran out of money for a dialysis. I think he gave up because he was so sad upset for what had happened to our family we already sold some of our properties. So.... That was sad..
I sell balut here in the Philippines. Good to know that my kababayan share this tradition to abroad. I am very proud of you sir. I am very proud to be a Filipino. Balut is now international. 🤗🤗😍😍😎
In Vietnam, we call it is “trứng vịt lộn” or “balut” in english for easy to call. It is very delicious, lots of protein, very good for male phyiology, the white part of the egg is the cartilage and it's so tough like rubber. It also use for breakfast, you eat it with some ginger slice, slice of coriander and a little salt.
Balut eggs are good source of protein just like any other meat substitute . Balut itself is packed with vitamin C and beta carotene, both of which are powerful antioxidants that help clean free radicals from your bloodstream and support your immune system. In addition, they contain niacin, riboflavin and thiamine, which help you metabolize energy. At 188 calories each, with only 14 grams of protein and loads of calcium, iron and phosphorus, balut eggs are a healthy addition to an adventurous diet. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 300 mg, only the yolk of the balut contains 359 mg of cholesterol so if your cholesterol is high don't eat it.
@@angryFISHstick Most of my family are Veterans. I thank you ALL so much from the bottom of my ♥️. They're the ones I've been close to all of my life and learned so much from them since I was a child. It made me be the man I am today and I'm so grateful for that.
in Vietnam, balut is so good, famous foods in Vietnam... must try it when u come there, in viet we eat balut with pepper salt and some mints.... so gorgeous
These soldiers are so brave. I once ate something and didn't know what it was because it was pitch black. Our squad was inside a Bavarian forest at night when the chow truck came in. We were hungry. Someone said it taste like chicken so I assume it was. Only time I ate food like that.
Lol this is like daily food in the philippines cause theres like people who have cartons filled with balut screaming baaaalloooooot yeah the pronounciation is like that its actually pretty good my filipino elders say ya need to eat one if your a real philipino lol my grandma can eat it in one bite hehe xD
I'm filipino but i've never tried eating the duck, only the yellow part. When you eat balut prepare a sauce, vinegar mixed with hot chili pepper, and add a little bit of salt. Add the sauce into the soup of balut before slurping to add some flavour. When eating the yellow part, dip the egg into the spicy sauce. It'll taste good. There are many sauces made for balut, not only that
i only eat balut in darkness coz i don't wanma see the hairy chick. when my crush asked me to eat with him one cold december in 2012, i pretended like balut master to impress him.
