I bought bamboo furniture back in the year 2000. 32 bucks for a living room set. Very pleased. We have been helping the mother in law in the provinces of the Philippines, rebuild, after bad typhoons. The carpenter cut and split bamboo, and made some nice things. Most houses are bamboo. Nothing fancy. The wife just lo es baby nipa houses. I have started growing some here, in Arkansas, USA. I believe it has incredible market potential.
The fact that bamboo has been used for scaffolding is a testament to it's durability and strength as well as it's use in everything that timber is used for. Looking at some of the bigger diameter stuff they would also make fantastic guttering for homes and it even makes nice and soft long lasting cloth, I bought my wife a T-shirt made from bamboo.
Marvelous to see the the way bamboo has been processed and used in buildings, furniture, artefacts, cutlery, crockery and more. The models made by the young Ecuadorian pheasant are fascinating. The great thing about bamboo is that it is a renewable resource, restores degraded lands, it is flexible, strong and light, it's multifarious uses makes it one of the best resources on Earth. This video is well made and worth watching.
Bambou is the miracle plant, and I really adore it. We can make litterally everything with bambou; the plus is that it's also edible and many species of bambou are delicious. It was exploited in China since a long time ago for all its benefits. It's so robuste because it's souple, flexible and hollow, and it grows so fast! I hope more and more people will awaken to the utility of that formidable raw material, because the Earth really need a profund change in everything of human's way of living. Later I want my home in bambou, 100% ecological and with that beauty that only bambou can provide.
I've been impressed by bamboo as a construction material for over 30 years. The biggest thing I noticed, other than what type of glue is used to make the construction materials, is the blockage by bureaucratic entities in the USA that are heavily influenced by existing corporations selling approved building materials that would be competing with bamboo materials. They virtually destroy the competition by lobbying against any competition.
@@StraightToThePointTutorials_ I'm afraid I don't have any specific backup sources. I am getting old but I have seen many examples of that type of behavior where bad capitalism is concerned, like when the congress was lobbied in 2005 with over 100 million dollars by the banking institutions to change our constitution and it's Bankruptcy laws for private citizens but not for corporations. If you think corporations are people too, just declare personal bankruptcy and you will see how corporations changed our constitution by bribing congress.
Young aspiring engineer here. Are there any organic sustainable method of joints you could share please? Considering I don’t have the money to process it with the machinery like in this video
When talked about bamboo, people may think of Asia, but these miracle trees (grass), are grown all over the world (tropical areas)and increasingly become an important new material comparable to lumber woods
*Bamboo is a beautiful material.* Went to an event in the new 5 star hotel. All their walls were with polished bamboo panels. It's a beautiful and sustainable material. The bamboo flooring is nice too, because it's like hard wood that is also resistant to water damage to some degree. Bamboo will become more and more used on our planet, because it works well and grows fast.
Amazing documentary. My family was originally from the Philippines where bamboos grows in abundance especially in the villages. We still have a bamboo hut to hangout specially on the summer days during our vacation.
Bamboo is used extensively in North Eastern India too, as it is a plentiful and easily available raw material for the local inhabitants. The government should encourage this bamboo industry and build up the local economy 👍
Bamboo is an amazing plant in the nature, you can have many things out of it, including food. Moreover it grows fastest of any plant that's the amazing thing about it...❤️❤️❤️❤️ Bamboo forever 💪💪💪💪
Truely...... Bamboo is the world's future. I am also working hard to see that I senstize People in my country to grow and preserve bamboo, and also teach them how it can be useful to them and how it can change their lives. I'm only facing a problem of lack of money to fund this project but if I get someone to give me a hand on this, I'll be able to change the lives of many
I always felt bamboo would grow in popularity, for the simple fact that it grows fast and there are so many varieties that can make anything from paper to flooring and even clothing. I think a bamboo floor is the most beautiful!
I love Bamboo. Most countries could benefit from learning what Japan does with the simple bamboo... Japan creates amazing high quality premium bamboo products on a while different level!
i have planted bamboo myself ,,and its very amazing plant because you only plant it once then harvest them forever,, it is very resilient plant,, has so many uses,, in fact its a miracle plant only few people knew....
I used to be part of our local bamboo society , bamboo is an absolutely amazing plant! It is an underestimated resource that could literally save the world , it has been severely overlooked in the USA... Bamboo farming is a major wave of the future. (It's also a food source)
@@s3enterprise46 he never answered.... perhaps you will try him again . I wish you good luck with your business.... I think it's the forks and spoons have a beautiful design you will not have trouble selling them . Same thing with the cups bowls and dishes.... if they have a beautiful shape and Design... a lot of people will want to buy them .
Also you might want to look at some of the videos about bamboo clothing.... I don't know if you knew that you can get cloth from bamboo..... learn everything you can you can't decide what is the easiest type of bamboo product for you to manufacture so that you can maximize your profits for the least amount of work .... at least when you are first starting out with your business .
I came across a large row of bamboo and thought...I can build something from this. I started researching and found out that the opportunity was just amazing. I absolutely want to harvest and sell bamboo and build things. I am a musician as well so I can buy or make bamboo instruments. And eat fresh sprouts 😋. Love this video and our God for creating this amazing grass plant.
It is an amazing plant .I have seen houses built out of it in sub tropical and tropical Australia. But what these guys can do is next level. So amazing and beautiful.
Beautiful, stylish and durable, not to mention the advantages with regards to the respectful treatment of the soil. I hope this practice will one day be a true alternative to conventional timber. Very informative. Thanks for posting.

When it comes to bamboo, there is no species as highly applicable and growing as fast as bamboo, something that is essential for the future development of humanity.
Bamboo is a great building material. Its been used for thousands of years. Scaffolding to help construct sky scrapers is even used at great heights. Clothing can also be made from it. Because its fast growing, it doesn't take long to replenish the resource either.
I have had a company making bamboo shutters once, and they are stronger then oakwood and stay straight as metal. Not enough people know about the environmental benefits for using this material instead of slow-growing wood. Being a carpenter, I will love it, till the end of days..and enjoyed the video very much!
@@larslover6559 , in former times, the costs where to high for transporting the material to the west, but nowadays the material is pressed with new machines and with high quality glue, which makes them very useful in our woodworking methodes. And because they grow so quick, it's also good for the environment, and let's not forget the quick replacement for the farmer himself. The only way to improve the use of bamboo, is as buyer to insist on better quality in woodwork. As we see today, the bamboo plywood is mostly used in public places like schools and libraries, and in Germany also on workbenches and worktables.. On high pressure, you could easily make a bicycle frame from this bamboo, ready in a minute.., but it still isn't a breakthrough for our perseption and market.
@@ThomiX0.0 thanks for taking the time to reply! I'm Norwegian but live in India(of all places) as a missionary. I work mainly among the impoverished tea garden workers and villagers. The poverty and the plastic pollution made mesearch for solutions. And then I discovered bamboo that grows alot in this region.im just in the research stage and trying to start production of bamboo products. Were trying to make prototypes of cups and straws as a starter
It would be economically unwise to use bamboo in Canada bc we produce more than enough sustainable Wood stock. We don't produce bamboo so we should tariff it even more than now if we care about the economy and the environment. Slow growing forests allow animals to use it, monoculture crops of bamboo do not support animal life. The quicker it is to grow, the less the plantation offers to nature as animals will not retake the space after harvest. Every harvest leaves a generation of animals exposed and without food supply, bc the most efficient way to harvest bamboo is by clear cutting. Faster is not better.
@@FletcherHillier , there is a major difference in the way of harvesting bamboo. The farmer takes only(!) the young and new grown outer stems, in order to make the 'motherplant' react with new growth. If not: he looses his volume..as outer growth becomes bigger every time you harvest..and young new plantroot makes useless small ones. Keeping this material at bay, means you haven't seen the whole picture jet.., as it isn't a thing of ' my country ' or ' my environment ', it is the whole world needing a good and sustainable building material. Partially wood and partially bamboo, without clearing the area completely as we do right now. Bamboo farms are green forever without the clear and open places like the wood farms, the light stems are taken out piece by piece, and you cannot even see a difference if you do so. Something to learn about for us westerners.:-)
Not Much is known about this Great Ecuadorian People and Nation What a lovely land it Seems Uses for bamboo WOW INDEED . A place Almost Asian in it's look , Yet Magical towards my own Dreams KIND REGARDS FROM IRELAND 🍀
I think now, I will plant Bamboo to revitalise the sandy soil on my land. Bamboo is beauty. It is strong and adaptable. Useful to the very last. Thank-you for the video. I had neglected planting Bamboo because of availability here in Australia. The seedlings planted were slow to grow but with a concentrated effort,Bamboo can bring the soil quality back and offer shade on those really hot Summers.
These brilliant images of bamboo have long been strongly connected to Viet nameses strength , spirit vx interal minded. Now, they become a key role in sharp economy of agriculture. Thaks mother land for blessing our earth with a such an amazin tree to amply improve the standard of livin.
I would like to start bamboo farming in my early retirement by next year and this is a piece of good information to start with. Thank you for sharing this video.
This kind of industry can be helpful so much for the mountain people and it can help also to make the nature apart from soil erosions and avoid flood destruction likewise it contributes income additionally for the rural folks.
and its food, plus the leaves can be used for herbal medicinal, just like wheat grass offers benefits for health, and you dont feel guilty about cutting it bec it is after all grass,, it truly is a gift to mankind
There is a bamboo in Malaysia that is supposed to get 8 inches diameter, and 80 feet tall, in 90 days. Incredible. National geographic did a very nice piece on bamboo, many years ago. Bet I still have it in my trivia pile.
Bamboo textiles are cloth, yarn, and clothing made out of bamboo fibres. While historically used only for structural elements, such as bustles and the ribs of corsets, in recent years a range of technologies have been developed allowing bamboo fibre to be used in a wide range of textile and fashion applications. Modern clothing labeled bamboo is usually rayon. The bamboo yarn can also be blended with other textile fibres such as hemp or even spandex. Bamboo fibres are all cellulose fibre extracted or fabricated from natural bamboo, but they vary widely. Textiles labelled as being made from bamboo are usually not made by mechanical crushing and retting. They are generally synthetic rayon made from cellulose extracted from bamboo. Bamboo is used whole and in strips; these strips may be considered stiff fibers
I was walking in a city bush area in south Africa when I bumped into a thicket of this stuff. my dog and I never came out the whole day, just sat there in the quiet with the bamboo leaves covering the floor like a blanket and the bamboo poles squeaking in the wind. We thought of all the things we could build with those poles. I wondered just how long that thicket would last with thousands of squatters moving from the countryside to the cities.
Wow such a versatile material I had no idea but watching this I now have alot of ideas like hemp it has so many uses that are just not being used we could use both of these materials instead of destroying our rain forests and native trees this is a great video thank you I now want a bamboo house
I made a bicycle frame out of bamboo. Joints were stuck together with hessian dipped in epoxy glue. Extremely strong and very nice feel on the road due to the material's dampening effect. Brilliant material bamboo!
@@lingswee1 - the bamboo bicycle club sells a home kit with full instructions from their website: www.bamboobicycleclub.org They also run weekend workshops in London.
I agree giant bamboo also makes great paper from its skin growth and sanded down can be painted is very strong all south american homes should use bamboo, also the horses and cows in the clould forest near quito love the sweet leaves and go mad for it
Really informative! Given bamboo's usefulness in construction/furniture making; it's ablity to absorb more carbon dioxide and manufacture more oxygen than trees; the fairly rapid benefits of preventing soil erosion because it grows quickly (and it carries on growing once chopped down for harvesting), it's antiseptic properties.... what's not to like! Improve biodiversity and stop chopping down so many trees and plant more bamboo to save our planet! And do our bit by planting some in our yards/gardens!
in the Philippines we make bamboo bike, bamboo car, bamboo canon during new years, bamboo fish cage, bamboo utinsel, toothpick, bammboo floors, bamboo fuels for drying copra during rainy season,
I make Bamboo Flutes and Bamboo beads that I string as jewelry. I sell my Artwork to the tourists on Maui. Bamboo is my favorite material to work with, I’ve used everything being a carpenter for 40 plus years, Aloha and mahalo
I thought in love with bamboo when, ironically, I became disabled. I started tending to my neighbors bamboo patches in exchange for keeping some of the plant material. And then donate the bamboo after I cure it to local community gardens. I’m now working on a scheme for my city to appropriate vacant lots and turn them into bamboo patches...
Beautiful creations.. A high-end enginuity..take care of that God-given treasure..truly our mind has unlimited potential of creativity..God bless U 😊👍🙏
