This is one of the RAREST bananas around today..the elusive GROS MICHEL! It was a total blessing to find some ripe ones and get to taste it right off of the tree. We pick some Robusta, Lacatan, Valerie, Apple, Honey bananas, and even some Horse & One Arm Bandit plantain.
We find and taste test some guinep, check out the raging river, and sample this epic banana with guests MJ & Darius.

Mokko is like many Rasta I have known. People who don't know them would say they are poor. People that do know them and how they live consider them rich. They provide for themselves without anything but knowledge of environment and how to manipulate it. Rich people know how to self sustain without other people to sustain them.

Keep banana peels in a bucket and let them brown. Use that bucket and part out ten buckets of water. Towards those ten buckets, add a heaping teaspoon of wood ash to each bucket. Use those ten buckets towards pretty much any plant in it's flower phase. Sit back as your results double in half time. Botany. Respect. Ital ferti recipes

Love this one......one of my favorite moments as a girl growing up here in Jamaica was when we wud go bush and find a whole bunch of ripe banana just like mokko just did. Gros michel too and same as with mokko the rats always beats us to it. Brought saltfish with us to bush dig some yam and my mom would make roast yam and saltfish for lunch while me my brother and my stepfather walks around picking jackfruit breadfruit green banana orange tangerine sugar cane and coconut some times mangoes too. Worst part of all this is the people u pass on the road on our way home would beg some of what we hv. My mom of course would give them, but I hated that they didn't know how heavy those things were to carry on our heads walking over half a mile sometimes a whole mile from bush to where they were so they can beg and get. This use to irritate me

Not totally related, but it would irritate me when me & my dad would go anywhere at all! Because this man would stop & talk to the whole damn world. 🤣 It would take us ages to get anywhere. Further down in life I would send him barrels, only to find on one trip he was bagging up everything I bought & distributing them to people 😅. Man I was so mad! ... But I’ve come to realise now as an almost 40 year old woman that this is Jamaican life. It is a very communal lifestyle. The West in comparison is very individualist. This is why I’m relocating back home. I can’t live without these values anymore 💔

Please continue to guide and assist Ras Mokko on the business aspect and with marketing etc, as I know he's not tech savvy. The banana flower is a delicacy in India and south east Asia,the South Indian way of cooking,peel outer layer exposing the white flowers remove the stigmas inside,cut small and saute with onion, cumin, chopped green chillies and grated coconut ,eat with rice - yummy!

I once went to New Orleans from Wisconsin for Mardi Gras in 2012. It was scary but hella fun! Ras Kitchen is now on my bucket list .. A river you can drink from, Ganja Tea and nourishment strait from the earth.

Yes. The guinep is a small, sweet fruit which is very popular in Jamaica. The fruit is very similar to a lychee (in fact, Jamaicans sometimes call lychees "Chinese Guineps"). The fruit is of a similar size, grows in bunches and has a similar textured skin. The skin of a guinep is, however, lime green in colour.

Thanks Matt for that info. Had no idea there were so many and I lived in Jamaica for months with my hubbie. So many types of mangoes too. Pure healthy food. Here in Babylon too much processed food. Organic is very expensive. Mokko should have a podcast to discuss veggies and fruits. Feed that puppy. Too skinny. One love. Enjoy your weekend 😘🥰😍
