I'm from Spain and... demolish one of the most intresting places on earth?? they must be crazy... If they give people who live there basic infrastructure and dignity, that place could be one of the most touristic places in Africa... they shoul invest on giving dignity to that place, to clean the water, creat floating schools, squares, floating libraries, floating medical centres, etc.... not on demolishing. Development is also to give value to the good things you have, even if they are in terrible conditions

Daniel Dake is such an asset. He is the only one who got up and decided to do something within his community. He was not waiting for the government because as you can see, the government showing up has not happened in more than 100 years. The other thing that I didn’t hear about is the high birth rate here. I watched another video on this community and the young man speaking for the community basically did not see that as a problem. From his point of view, if you can’t be rich in money, you have the option of being rich in children. This is why I’m so proud of Mr. Dake, he sees that being fishermen is not sustainable and so he started educating his peers. The comment about a fish not being able to live outside of the water is part of the problem. Nobody is born to be a certain thing. Brings to mind a lot of the coal mine counties in the US. Mostly all deserted ghost towns. They thought they were fighting a good fight until it was obvious they had no choice but to make hard choices. It did not have to be that way. The work that needs to be done starts both within the community and outside the community.?

These are serious issues effecting these poor communities and the government is doing nothing to solve them. Imagine no hospitals and proper schools. They really deprive from social amenities. Africa Leaders are the most heartless and greed people. The rich are getting richer whiles the poor are getting poorer. May Allah help Africa this continent have suffered far too long now. These are very serious topics and conversations that needs bigger bigger audiences to educate the youths to high light them on what little they could do to help change the communities.

I am an old white man living in Dallas, Texas. I am amazed at the richness of this community, in spite of the the absence of so much that is needed. We see somewhat similar disparities here in Dallas, between poor areas and the new areas (poor meaning mostly people of color, of course), but the sense of community in those areas has been severely diminished over the decades. Of course, in the richer, white areas, there is little to no sense of community to begin with. I will never understand, however, how someone can have so much and do so little to help others, everywhere in the world really.

The government, the government...we all know most politicians don't care. For a good percentage of Ghanaian youth, our 'aha moment' was when we realized we can succeed with just minimal help from our government. Basic education is free and national health insurance works sometimes: that's enough help for this mindset. Take what your government has provided so far and run with it. Life isn't fair but IT IS YOUR LIFE. Know this and know peace. We have pledged to give back to our communities and in a few generations, the cycle of poverty will be broken or weakened. The irony is that politicians perform most where they are least respected/depended on because without results they know they won't get any votes.

Africans just don't want better we only talk about it but no action nor accountability is put in place. we hold our political parties highly rather than the well being of ourselves (less privilege people). Our spoke persons / advisers to the political authority are in bed with each other. we have created such atmosphere for this to happen. until we demand what is rightful to us, we MUST have a formidable mindset to champion change and better or else we will be treated as inferior in our own countries not to talk of other nations. We speak of solutions but not actions.

Aliko Dangote from Nigeria is the 64th richest man on Earth. Networth of 14 billion. In a single week, he can hire the people-power to clean the water, giving people jobs in water sanitation. After that job is done, the state can continue to pay the wages for the water sanitation clean-up crew. This will allow more fish to come into the area as well. In a span of 3 months, he can build three major hospitals there, all floating on water. China broke the record in 2020 with the fastest-built hospital in a single month. China did it because the will was there, during covid. Aliko Dangote, only needs the will. And in less than a year all the homes built on top of the water can be rebuilt to be better quality homes with electricity, water, bathrooms, and heat and still be on top of the water. Adopting a special sewage system, similar to modern-day Venice. The sewage system may take up to three years, and made of Dangote cement. This will create a region that will continue to seek Dongote cement for repairs and expansion of the new underwater sewer system that will make Venice, Italy look like a slum. Also within a span of 1 to 3 years, new schools, cultural museums, post offices, courthouses, a police station with speed boats, areas for commerce for food to clothes, theaters, bars, nightlife, town halls, libraries, etc can be resurrected - opening positions for numerous jobs. Which can later be self-sustainable. By the end of it, Alikio Dangote can walk away, without seeing so much as a dent in his wallet. And all of Makoko will remember his hand for countless generations after he is gone. His descendants will be able to run for political office riding on that legacy - a man who changed the poorest two on Earth to the most beautiful and gorgeous paradise in Africa. All of Lagos will forever remember as well, seeing the beauty of Makoko brought about because in that short period of time Aliko Dangote wanted to make a real legacy outside of cement, a true example for Nigeria to follow for centuries.
@donotreplydumbpeople3866
@donotreplydumbpeople3866 Год назад
Yeah… I agree 100% but that would not happen, why?? Well when you do something like that by yourself, the actual government money that supposed to go there, will go directly to politicians pocket, and that something that hold some rich ppl back, it’s like you’re enriching someone with your money, I don’t know if I’m explaining my self correctly
@HiddenPalm
@HiddenPalm Год назад
@@donotreplydumbpeople3866 Absolutely, government corruption can hamper things. Aliko would have to bypass the government and directly invest. Similar to Bill Gates when he gave out free computers and Windows to impoverished schools in numerous countries. Aliko would be investing his cement and resources the same. Today, the whole world buys home computers with Windows. And if Aliko wanted to, he could have all of Lagos committed to his cement for many, many decades. Every repair requires breaking the cement to get to the wiring and sewage and plumbing and putting back the cement. In an empowered community with jobs, the store owner, the homeowner, and the government would all buy their cement from Aliko. Aliko just has to build that nest like Bill Gates did.

UN-Habitat regards a slum as an overpopulated urban residential area of a city that is synonymous with a lack of tenure security to prevent forced evictions, sordidness, and poor quality housing. Slums are also areas that don't have clean or safe water and adequate sanitation. Makoko is not even the largest in Lagos. Ajegunle and Shomolu are both bigger. And then Kenya has Kibera. Hernando de Soto in Peru did a lot of work around tenure security and its relation to poverty.

After Africa conquers greed, jobs must be created. Fish processing plants, fishing fleets, manufacturing facilities, industrial parks, and incubators for small scale and micro scale business. Small businesses that employ 20 to 500 people is a must to decrease inequality in in these communities. Also and open free market economy is a must. Trade between African nations is a must.

Do you really want to know the most corrupt nations and individuals in this world?, The U. S. Of A, the European Union, The IMF, The United Nations., etc and does and siphon our natural resources from Africa, give loans to our corrupt politicians. To solve this problems, the West should stop siphoning our natural resources away, example like out cocoa, instead of exporting it Switzerland for chocolate processing, they should instead set the factory here, all our natural resources should be process here, think about the change that will bring. Then our African leaders should come together for us to use a common currency.

As someone who has traveled a lot and is a Business Administrator, what these people are asking is unrealistic; if you want the government to make a sacrifice for you, you most also be ready to make a sacrifice; that’s one of the problems of Africans they don't like a sacrifice. If they want the place to be developed, the government can bring a developer who will relocate them into an apartment complex in another place and then establish the place for another purpose, but to have development, they accept the lost of that area development comes with a lot of sacrifices people will always be lost their house for roads to be built for the big city to build and that means losing their actual habit. But one think I know if you ask for something to make it easy bring what you are ready to sacrifice as well on the table and do the negotiation. For this, they must have leaders who can represent them and negotiate. The government can not do everything unless they become socialist of even get back to monarchy.

ALL IN ALL: SELF HATE Applying to: Allah, Buddha, Jah, Jesus, Krishna, Yahweh And All The Rest: Even as an updated point of view: my take on it is that Blacks as a whole (especially as applying to both African and American Blacks [maybe one more so than the other and vice versa]) we fail in these five to six main areas: 1) The Idea Of A Non-proven One All Omnipotent God/Religions; 2) Not Having Overall Desire Or Values Toward True Ancient, Historical Knowledge & Science; 3) Negative Female Rulership By Non-Postnatal Trained ('Crooked Natured') Women; 4) Limited, Average Life Span; 5) Not Having Economic Productive Type Values (Needing Someone Else To Do What You Yourself Can Do While Also Not Maximizing On The Full Utilization Of Your Community's Or Continent's Natural Resources) & Finally, 6) The Allowed Destruction Of Family; all of this done within our limited average 80-years lifespan.

He starts by praising the leader for being empathetic(this word must be in his talking points), then states that the very leader understands the plight of the people. When pushed further, he admits never knowing "places like this" exist which in itself betrays his disregard of the people and their plight.
