Please try a savory (ish) banana. It's called "saba". In the Philippines, we have to cook it with sugar so it tastes like, well, banana-ey. We also add it to savory soups to give a subtle sweetness. It has a super hard skin and you have to cut it with a knife.

talking about freaky banana, there's one freaky banana that native to Papua island in Indonesia, it's a giant banana, Musa Ingens. The tree can grow up to 25 meter high and have 2 meter diameter at the bottom. The fruit itself can grow more than 20 cm long. They can harvest up to 60 kg of banana from 1 tree. Unfortunately, it's quite hard to find outside Papua.

The best way to tell if a banana, or almost any fruit, is ripe, is by smell. A ripe banana should have a rich, mellow, sweet smell, not the slightly acrid, green smell of an unripe banana. It’s not wrong to say you can judge by softness, except that some banana varieties are softer than others when ripe. So it takes experience with the particular variety. If you have one of the firm varieties, it will never get as soft (before it rots) as one of the softer varieties.

@Gabriel-cr1qe 3 года назад
@@Bubu567 I mean, they're sweet when they're ripe like any fruit, you just don't eat them as is. You cut them into slices, not vertically but horizontally at an angle, and then fry them so you make fried plantains. In spanish you can also call them amarillos which basically translates to yellows. They're also used to make other foods. They're very soft and sweet when done right.
