Great and informative video! I tried using bands and immediately noticed a huge difference. That was the only reason I could progress from a tuck planche to a 1-2 sec straddle within only 2 months. It's that good! But I never thought of doing push ups with bands, will definitely try it out and maybe make a video on the results! Thanks Simon!
3:48 I gotta give this guy a like right now. Great advice kicking out to straddle or full planche at the bottom to mitigate the resistance band helping more there.
Thank you for a great video and explaining the pros and cons with proper anatomical and biomechanical principles and terminology (as you do with your other videos). I recently started doing band assisted planche holds and pushups and was debating whether I could be spending the time on more effective progressions.
I learnt the muscle up faster with bands than I did without All those guides that say if you can do 10 pull ups etc didn't help. Bands meant I got it, and worked the bands down weekly
Unless you're talking about hanstand push ups if you're just talking about handstand you can mix handstand with any workout it's not that stressful to your joints
@justayoutubeaccount7671 too fatiguing on shoulders. imo, if you you have a pre good foundation, kick ups and ctw handstands (just balance, no strength moves) would not affect your planche progress.
Thank you so much. Iykd you tell me where you got your sweet pull up bar exerciser? I like the design and multiple functions. Thank you so much again, very great channel you have
Why does nobody suggest making a homemade pulley system? Rock climbing pulley, Paracord, and a scalable weight (milk jug, weights from the gym, etc) would offer linear resistance
Because it’s a lot of effort and not much better. Bands are really easy to use. There are some equipment companies that make pulley systems such as the gymnastics forza system.
Is there any way to determine which combinations of the three elements 1) band strength, 2) top-progression (e.g. tucked) and 3) bottom-progression (e.g. straddle) will match a true planche push up strength curve?
imo, you can attempt the planche progression you are stuck in (ex. adv tuck - straddle/super adv tuck) and use the resistance bands until you can hold the higher progression without bands
Does anyone know what is the name of that equipment he’s using in the video? What kind of pushup bar is that? I’m looking for a particular one like that
@@SimonsterStrength I was going to comment on that myself .....casually pausing at the bottom of a rep with 6 x 45lb weights on an olympic bar! I've stopped benching completely since starting (and stopping due to other distractions) calisthenics and always wondered if bodyweight exercises would maintain a certain amount of strength (say 80%) in that exercise...or not! I'm too far past pumping iron now for it to bother me - so it's inspiring to see that amount of weight on a bar from you (fake or not!) 👍
