Thank you so much Dr. Amita! I was in need of guidance :) by the way... is there an alternative plier to pinch the band for adapting it? question 2: Should the soldered joint be polished?
It's my pleasure Luis PEOPLE USE CURVED HOE PLIERS ONLY ALSO, BUT WHEN COMPARED BAND PINCHING PLIERS GIVES BETTER ADAPTATION, (MIND IT: ITS DIFFICULT TO GET USED TO WITH PINCHING PLIERS AT FIRST, BUT ONCE YOU ARE USED TO IT, IT'S VERU EASY AND LESS TIME CONSUMING) IF THE SOLDER MATERIAL IS EXCESS OR INTERFERING WITH OCCLUSION, THEN WE HAVE TO TRIM AND POLISH THE SOLDERED JOINT EVEN IF TRIMMING IS NOT DONE THEN WE CAN USE FINE SAND PAPER AND ZINC PHOSPHATE CEMENT WITH GAUGE, TO GIVE IT SHINY APPEARANCE
Thank you for taking the time to answer and making this video. Im an orthodontist in formation and i found a bit hard to find good quality information on this subject. Have a great weekend Dr.
Hi sorry for late response, I usually use hoe pliers before band pinching pliers for initial adaptation. When to use curved or straight hoe pliers depends on the access you will be needing. I use curved hoe pliers more than straight ones.
