This was Band-Maids first song where the record company finally "Unleashed" Kanami's writing skills, after many rejections, and let the girls do one of their songs.....and as they say, "the rest is history". One of Kanami's best solo's here. This song, after eight years, still holds it's own even today, that's the sign of extraordinary song writing.
FYI the lead guitarist Kanami is the composer and brains behind all the music. After she composes the music she gives it over to Miku and Saiki to compose the lyrics. And as a metal head that grew up in the 70's I think this song is perfect.
The way ladies performed in this video kind of shows that ”they were finally free” to release their own music. Joy, Passion, everything is right there 🔥❤️ Kanami’s solo is Magical piece of music. Lovin’ Band-Maid ❤️
I’m 67, been playing since I was a teen. Grew up playing Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton fiddle tunes, so I think I am pretty capable of picking out licks and melody twists & turns, and so far, after listening to them from the day Thrill was released on RU-vid, I have spotted exactly 2 (two) small sections of two songs that seemed to be ‘copied’ from another of their songs. They have a style, and do mostly stick to a ‘ababcb’ song structure (but it’s more aJapanese version of chord progressions, which are more complicated than the common western versions) so it’s especially amazing how little they ‘copy’ from older songs! You can tell it’s them but you’re never able to say ‘that sounds a lot like’ any of their own songs (although they do often get compared to other bands!) it’s obvious it’s them when you listen, but it’s never because the song or song arrangements being ‘the same’ that gives them away,
A very important song in the catalog. The first song the band was allowed to write and produce themselves. Up to this point all of their songs were written by professional writers hired by their label.
This song is where BAND-MAID started as real band! I can't believe their company didn't wanted them to write their own before this. I'm sure Kanami had some real bangers before this. She's more than a great song writer!
"Alone" is like stepping up to the plate during your first at-bat in the major leagues and knocking it out of the ballpark. "Alone" was the first song that their management company, at the time, let them write and record on their won. It was a preview of the talent that was there and what was to come.
Once they were left "Alone" by their record / management companies to create what they wanted, well... look what they did. Alone's somewhat sad, heavy yet empowering story (topics Miku's known for writing about), up against Kanami's up-tempo, complex yet rockin' music is quintessential Band-Maid. BAND-MAID is an important influence and contributor to the music industry with a continuous, growing worldwide fanbase. But to me, they are just the best sounding, best writers of hard rock music, and the most fun, joyous group of musicians to come along since the Beatles! Thx, Jason!
100% *Band Maid* classic. This song came out on the *Just Bring It* album in which the majority of songs were written by the band, and this was a first! The album itself has many songs worth checking out and is one of my favorites. 🙂 Great reaction #Jason 🤘❤🔥🤘
Great reaction once again. This is the first song that Band Maid wrote and arranged on their own. Suggestion for you to react to Band Maid documentary's by (Ohrenje). What about songs you might ask, well : Don't you tell me (live), Daydreaming (MV), About us (live), Memorable (MV), Onset (live), and their acoustic songs (Puzzle, Anemone, Catharsis, "and both acoustic and live Sayonakidori) Once again thank you for sharing your reaction with us and we awaiting for more PO!!!🕊
If you really want to discover their music, check out their songs on their channel that don't have actual videos. The have most of their catalog available under the releases tab, set in individual playlists. I think only their first mini-album and a couple of one offs that were only performed live are the only songs not available.
