What a PERFECT song structure! Band-Maid makes their songs accessible and easy to follow, but puts in all these subtle "eyebrows" such as the increasing complexity of the drums leading to each chorus resulting in a drag triplet over the extended bar. The first time Akane resolves it with a basic 8th note Rock beat (band has dropped out completely leaving just Saiki) This foreshadows the third repeat . . . on the second the band performs a unison triplet leaving the chord open at the end through the pick up fill. The final time the whole band goes tacet, and GorillAkane (hee hee) DROPS one floor tom THUD! SO awesome! This is the kind of compositional care that N Peart R.I.P. used to do and Band-Maid's music deserves! She really is the best of what has come before her drumming wise and has so many different abilities. Pearts compositional awareness and craft with Bonhamesque ability to groove, a comfortable and relaxed energy and the tastefulness of a player well beyond her years! She may be one of the best all around drummers out there!!! I do miss the hat though . . :) Continually impressed with all of them! Speaking of song structure: Did anybody notice that the song opens and closes like a story book, but Kanami's chords ascend in the opening and DESCEND in the coda . . .creating the illusion it is REVERSED! These are the understated subtleties of MASTERY! Thanks for another gr8 reaction Dicodec!!!!!!
Christian ... I hadn't noticed before what you say about the opening and closing chord structure and now that you mention it, it seems so obvious ... and smart !!! Thank you! You're absolutely right: understated subtleties of MASTERY.
Great observations, Christian. All their songs contain tasty licks and arrangement subtleties that take many listens to catch and appreciate. It sounds so simple at first but super hard to pull off well without a lot of rehearsals. I only wish they had mixed Kanami's guitar work better with the backing breakdown vocals at the end of Blooming.
“They do harmonies all the time..”. “Not like THAT!” Lol thanks for highlighting that. Never realized it but yet this is probably my favorite saiki/miku harmonizing. I didn’t need another reason to love this song but now I have it!
Yea this one is my favorite song of BAND-MAID it has everything. 👉 Akane: wicked drumming thru out the song. 👉 Kanami: insane guitar solo. 👉 Saiki / Miku: Vocal harmonizing. 👉 MISA: Bass breakdown. 👉 Breakdown section at the end. Overall a Masterpiece! *Blooming the gateway drug of BAND-MAID!!!*
I am so impressed by Kanami Tono's writing and composing skills. She such a genius on putting so many different tempos and changes and genres in one song. I saw on Twitter or Instagram that she was practicing her tapping and her fingers started to bleed. I call that dedication. As a musician of 56 plus years Band-Maid is my favorite group in the world today. Great reaction. 🤘🤘
Blooming is one of my most favourite MVs from any band. Its a simple light setup but the cinematography is done well, and hiding their eyes until near the end builds suspense. Also if you noticed, only Miku & Saiki are showcased.
I’m really starting to appreciate Saiki’s vocals. There are lots of cool Japanese female rock bands, but a lot of the singers have this very girlish style. Saiki’s fuller vocals put their stuff over the top.
Kanami just tweeted yesterday that her fingers were bleeding due to practising too much tapping she couldnt feel her fingers and refered to it as "fluffy time" This woman is seriously on a class of her own cant wait what the new album she gives us more face melting solos and songs. ❤️😭
Dudes, I warned you, Lol, better late than never, now "Don't you tell me live - Battle - Zepp Tokyo" , then just 80 more songs and you'll be up to date with Band-Maid, peace from Brazil.
They took all those live songs down unfortunately. Harder to find them now. Don't you tell me, take me higher, and turn me on are amazing with the bass and guitar battles.
I'm surprised that it took you so long to get to this song. I want to say I mentioned this song months ago in the comments. This song not only kept my spirits up during lockdown, but has (what I feel to be) Kanami's best solo. Not only does it have plenty of chops laden guitar pyrotechnics, but it shows that she can employ all of those techniques in a way that showcases her sense of melodicism and that she's still ultimately serving the song.
I’ve been watching Band Maid reacts for two months solid, and this is hands down the most energetic and compelling!!! Congrats, Dicodec, I see you became massive fans, and I love seeing how it all started!
You get an extra 100 points for backing up and doing the end of Kanami's solo, and listening to how it explodes into beautiful vocal harmonies. One of the band's most awesome moments, and every reactor pauses after the solo (understandable) and then the complete mess up the whole affect of the transition into those harmonies.
No doubt man...u both get blown away and at the same time get bloomed! The more u listen t BLOOMING, the more u realize on how many efforts and skills that Kanami has hands on that particular genre's and transition inside under 4 minutes song and not to forgets Misa, Akane and Saiki commitment, mutual respect and understanding the love of what they do has come together as we can see and heard from all of their song. They are super talented... Seriously focussed musicians but never leave behind the fun side of it....Super Dope...man
Great reaction guys......but I have a question for you.....since you guys have a band.....does Band-Maid inspire or influence the way you want to play music in the near future?
Reincarnation→Blooming→Screaming (LINE CUBE SHIBUYA 200214 LIVE) From the beginning, these three songs will cause a big explosion in the brain ... "Screaming" is the main song for future live performances. 【cross】・【glory】・【alone】・【Wonderland】is also good♪(Officially uploaded)
Maybe their best studio Music Video. They are all at the top of their game. You need to react to "Rock in Me with Miku Time". If you think you love Miku now, you are going tome Head over Heels after Miku Time. Also Aldious is celebrating their 10th anniversary debut with some studio live performances; "Luft", "Everysince", and "We Are". Though do "We Are" the long version. Oh, did you get your 35th Anniversary PRS's and Morley 20/20 Wah pedals yet?
I've listened to this song probably a thousand times since I found out about them last November, and I've said repeatedly it's like they took all the best parts of the 00s rock, metal and punk and evolved them into something way better and now I just realized why Blooming sounds so fresh but familiar; listen to the intro or outro to Finger Eleven's Good Times and then to the Blooming's solo. They both play in the same soundscape. I loved that song and this blows it out of the water. That's what I mean; it's like they take everything good about the 00s, mostly the soundscapes and guitar tuning or tricks* and then blends ideas and evolves them into new beautiful technical showpieces where the 00s had failed (00s for the most part seemed to have less solos than previous decades and nothing near as technical). That's awesome. That's why they are the best band of this century; because they are able to make something sound familiar and feel nostalgic but entirely fresh, unique and feel wholly original at the same time. It's an amazing feat. *A great example of a music trick that came up often in the 00s that Band-Maid uses a lot is that out of focus distortion on vocals or on the instruments in song intros. They love using that and even if not invented in the 00s, that was a definite staple of 00s music.
So glad you finally reacted to this! Easily one of BAND-MAID's best songs. Check out "Awakening" by Unleash the Archers and "Black Ninja" by Battle Beast! Thanks guys!
I'm surprised you haven't reacted to Blooming yet! And, for you future listening pleasure, Kanami does a couple of demo vids on Young Guitars YT channel, one is for Mourley Wah pedals and the other is for PRS 35th Anniversary guitars. It's awesome to watch Mincho just sitting and being her cute self and playing around with different stuff.
Some talent you say? I just looked in my Webster's Dictionary and the definition of talent was a picture of Band-Maid. I thought that was kind of curious until l turned to the page that the definition for relentless was on and there was a picture of Miku. How this happened in a twenty year old dictionary l will never know. Maybe there are some things we aren't supposed to ever know. 😉
As you know Robert, my lexicon is so vast that I have no need for a dictionary. But I have heard that Roget's Thesaurus has omitted using any BAND-MAID entries because there are so many synonyms that apply to them, individually & as a whole, that they would take up half the book ;)
@@glenkelley6799 l would agree. They are also useful in helping one keep their sanity or whatever is left of it during these troubling times. Take care and stay well.
Here I come with another suggestion to please react to the gazette!! 13 stairs, deux (live), ugly, the mortal are all super good!! You guys are super fun to watch!
This girls are super talented and whenever I take a listen to their songs at first I'm into it but this type of rock music and the vocalist, though she's amazing, I can't listen to their songs more than a few times. Might be becaude I used to really be into this type rock music back in the day and I over did it. But damn. I ruined it for myself but at first listen they sound so good.
Sokoninaru! Sokoninaruuuuuu! Please? Their new and first full album is out on the 7th and I need you guys to join me in the hype! Please react to the opening track Lament Moment 🖤
In the comments of your last Lovebites reaction (already almost 2 months ago!!!) you said "More LoveBites on the way" ... May I ask, is this way that long?? Because it feels long overdue ...
Apologies for the wait. We've just been busy getting through with our sponsored videos. Next filming day I'll make sure we do another LoveBites song. 🤘
@@dicodec Thx for the answer. No need to apologize, it's totally up to you, when or even if you'll be ready. I was just teasing a bit. But of course I'm looking forward to it. ;-)
