All of the songs people are recommending are great, and to be honest you can choose one at random - that's how good their songwriting is, and you already know they can play. (Although you haven't begun to see the height of their skills.)
I would recommend Play Live and Domination Live. This was from the last concert they played in front of a live audience (Feb 2020). Play was the 21st song and Domination was the 22d of 23). So those songs were back to back. Will you great feel for their presence and personalities. Nice reaction BTW

Real Existence (live version) is also a goody to react to, I don't understand why it isn't recommended more. Saiki (vocals) has lost her shoes in the previous song, which leads to some onstage fun with Misa (bass) who always performs barefoot , lots of smiles which is a Band Maid trait. I love Band-Maid! 5 of the most talented musicians in rock. I only discovered them in the past 4 or 5 months but I have listened to almost everything they have put out. They don't have a bad song in their catalog imo, though I like some more than others. Their sound is hard rock, pop punk, metal, alternative, and prog rock with touches of jazz, funk, and blues thrown in. I would recommend watching a couple of their live videos like Domination, Play, or Freedom to start. Honestly though you can't go wrong with any of their stuff. I look forward to following your journey down the Band-Maid rabbit (or I should say pigeon) hole.
Oh boy... You are in for a treat, i think this band is right up your alley! This song is in their beginning, you should hear stuff KANAMI (lead guitar) is writing! She is the main songwriter and is BRILLIANT... It always amazes me how she approaches music and let every other instrument and singing voice shine. ALONE would be interesting, because that was their "first self-written" song or "Blooming", because that was a "homework project" from Kanami for all the members!

OK, anime. Their song Different (Dec. 2020 single) was commissioned as the theme song for season 3 of the anime Log Horizon. Sense (Oct. 2021 single) was commissioned as the theme for Platinum End. Both of these songs fit the "fast, intense, dense, seemingly chaotic" style they've been exploring a bit in recent years. Also, Hibana (B-side on the Sense single) was written for an e-sports competition. There's no music video for that one but it's a fun song and you can practically see an FPS game in progress.

Not all of their songs are as predictable. You might also notice as you do more songs that the second verse is almost always different from the first. Also on most songs you’ll hear several different riffs being played, rather than the same one throughout. Similar thing with drums and bass… they always mix things up, and keep it fresh.

Choose Me is a great track to introduce yourself to Band Maid. There are plenty of guitair solo's and Bass solo's too. There are so many tracks to choose from and none dissapoint. Their latest single 'Sense' is the opening theme for the anime Platinum End, why not check it out !
@@JulesTheHuman Different is another BM song off of Unseen World Album that's connected to the anime The Log Horizon. But I would recommend graduating up to that as it:s very busy and very heavy but still distinctly BM. Once you get a better sense of them you'll be better prepared to appreciate it. I believe there is a third song connected to an anime, but I can't recall off hand, you have to go to the community for that answer. Somebody out there definitely knows though. Their new management company Pony Canyon has entertainment ties to anime, so they've recently been using that as a marketing strategy and promotional tool to get their name out there in Japan. Because they are not nearly as big there as they should be. COVID kinda derailed the momentum they were beginning to generate, with their Budokan Show being cancelled.

Check basically any live clips (the Live @ Shibuya are all awesome) or any of the newer Online Okyuji (live-streamed concerts, sadly without audience) from their official channel. I’ve been a touring and pro musician for the past 22 years and if any band from the USA or Europe would have flashed before my eyes in a video playing these riffs , the ONLY thing that I would attribute to the band is that it’s in the Rock Genre. Not that it would be for an Anime. You got caught up in the visuals of a Japanese band and that’s where your mind took you as soooo many others making the same mistake and statement with these ladies. Your not the first. We have been following this band since it’s beginning at its one of the best musicianship that’s been out there in Rock in years. They deserve there fans to lay it out for the new ones . They have recorded in this last year for a specific anime that is true. But , the anime company asked them for a song since they loved their sound. A drum a guitar a bass and it’s players make what is known as music. Band Maid is all about that versatility and newness that a stale music market needed atm . A new offering. So let’s say, if it was some guys dressed in jeans with a grunge look and this is the song they were playing , would it still be considered an anime song? Most probably not.
