The members may be attractive, but most people are fans because Band-Maid is creating some of the best hard rock music in a very long time. If you read the comments under their videos, you'll see 95% of comments are people talking about how good the music is. You also said you want to hear different styles from them. You are in luck! Band-Maid styles switches from pop-punk ("Alone", "Choose Me"), power ballads ("Daydreaming", "Wonderland"), classic rock ("Manners", "Bubble"), to stuff that moves as fast as speed metal ("Warning!", "Different"), songs that go heavier ("Black Hole", "Rinne"), and even songs that feature traditional Japanese instruments ("Gion Cho", "Secret Maiko Lips"). These are just examples from the songs with music videos. On their latest releases, songs like "Corallium" and "Giovanni" are starting to enter progressive rock territory. They are all beautiful in every way, visually, personality and talent, oh and they just happen to be the best rock band I've heard in more than 30 years. I've been a BAND-MAID fan for 7 years. It is the so-called "MAIDIAC". Among the recent fans, the enthusiastic BAND-MAID fans are called "MAIDIAC". I was a fan the moment I watched the video. High vocal singing ability, lead guitar tremolo picking, bass slap playing, and powerful drums ran around like a storm. They always play this song live. Because it is a song that unites the performer and the audience. Their playing technique is considerable. It is one of the few artists whose Music Video and live quality are the same.

Yes, Saiki has a rather huskier voice than many Japanese girls and I feel that is why she was chosen in the audition. Band-Maid knew where they wanted to go with their music and a voice like a chipmunk on helium was NOT going to make it. She turned out to be absolutely perfect, in fact all the girls are perfect. Hope you stay with them because they are amazingly talented and I could listen to your language all day.....must be the Czech in me. Check out "Domination" LIVE from the same concert. Also, since you like anime may I suggest "Different" and "Sense" two tunes Band-Maid wrote for Anime openings, so you may relate. Akane, the drummer is a huge anime fan. I am a fan of the group since early 2017. Yes, I noticed they are cute. But what made me a fan and caused me to buy their albums was that they ROCK and they are always improving their skills and writing creative, enjoyable music. In the USA, homeland of Rock and Roll, today the music industry mostly ignores real rock music, and "autotunes" most of what they do have to death. Most of their stars are boring and crass, insulting each other in social media for publicity. Many people still like rock, but this is mostly ignored by the corporate leaders. Fortunately the Internet has opened a new path around the giant corporations, and independent artists and artists in any country can now be heard by millions of people. The Band-Maid videos "Thrill" and "Choose Me" appeared on RU-vid in early 2017 when they were in danger of losing their music industry support in Japan and breaking up. After those videos, views went crazy high and soon they had many more fans in in other countries than in Japan. Their early songs were supplied by others, and are more pop-rock. Some are quite good, but gradually they persuaded their managers to let them write their own. "Freedom" had music by a composer from outside of the band. But the lyrics were written by Miku (founder of band, in mostly white with a red rose, second vocalist, second guitar, main lyricist) and are a declaration of personal freedom, saying that she is going her own way and others can walk with her, or go away. And they deliver it with joy, not anger. Since then they have been making it a reality, becoming more and more independent. Freedom is a fun song, so they still often include it in concerts. About the same time, after many rejections, Kanami (guitarist playing the fast solo) got management approval for her tune for the song "Alone." Again Miku wrote lyrics. It was very good and popular, and after that they wrote almost all of their own songs. Their heavier music includes Domination, Dice, and Rinne for a beginning. Songs like these could be considered more metal. Alone, Wonderland, Real Existence are examples of their earlier work, and I think Order is a great solid rocker. And later, Clang... Really, they don't have any bad songs, just some songs that may appeal more to some fans than others. Live concert videos are usually best because they have wonderful connection with audiences and are as inspired by us as we are by them. But it is good to see both. Their more recent music videos often have a lot of artistic symbolism included. Other commenters have listed theme songs they wrote for anime shows. Some are more experimental and "progressive." There was a short acoustic section in a longer concert a few years ago with only lead singer Saiki and lead guitarist Kanami on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, Bilibili had it last I knew, where Saiki gets to do much more emotional versions of "Anemone" and "Puzzle" which are both tragic-love songs. In December 2021, they did a paid online acoustic concert that was beautiful. The song Catharsis from that was posted on their RU-vid channel and shows a different side of their music.

The grandmothers of J-rock is a band that started in the 80:ies and still playing: Show-Ya / eye to eye is their lastest musicvideo. An then You have Nemophila that are coming strong. A new band. Hanabie, Other all female bands are Fate Gear, Bridear, Hagane, Aldious, Gacharin Spin, Trident... just for at starter...

I think you're wrong about the audience. Yeah .. it's generally mostly males, somewhere between 30 and 99, but the reason is much less the look of the band (Sure, they are cute, but there are plenty of cute female bands to see), and a LOT more about the fact that the music resonates particularly with that specific demographic. It's reminiscent of 70s rock, 80s punk and heavy metal and 90s grunge and pop punk ... styles that are just missing (at least in taht quality) in today's music scene in the West.
Freedom is one of their simple arrangements. It's just a fun basic rock song. Most of their songs have much more layers of complexity and mixture of genres. Check out their official live video of "Manners/No God" and you will see their range of musicality

As for the outfits MIKU, KANAMI and AKANE all wear the traditional maid cafe outfit. SAIKI (lead singer) wears a MAID QUEEN outfit and MISA (Bass) is said to wear a Croatian maid outfit (not sure what they are supposed to look like though).

I think the best part of that interview though was when MIKU corrected the MC about each individual having their own fans. MIKU says "NO, not just one of them but all of them together" That is MIKU at her best!

On your comment that the audience was men, there is a dedicated section for women at the front stage left on the right as you look at the stage. That is true at many of their concerts. Granted there are more men than women at their concerts, but there are a large number of women fans who get to their concerts. Edited to add: You would like their song Day Dreaming which is from earlier in their career. Actually you would probably enjoy their entire catalog of music. I know so far I have yet to find a song of theirs that I do not enjoy listening to.

I would recommend you rather see more of Band Maid, there is so much more to see! They cover so many styles/genres including thrash, punk, pop-rock, experimental…..Babymetal are three singer/dancers with a male backing band. They are not comparable, except that they are also Japanese!
