I guarentee you this group will blow your mind Between Female led by Fuki and female violinit Jill they are called Unlucky Morpheous Jill also plays Violin with another group Fates Gear. Cadaver/Revadac ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gxN3L2jrrEI.html yes like the name the song is forward then backward
This is Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things as has been said by many before me. For each tour they will arrange some special sections to their songs and/or completely different arrangements like from electric to acoustic. This performance was from the final concert of their 10th anniversary tour. 33 songs over 3 1/2 hours. I watched in on streaming and then bought the Blu-ray later when it came out. They are the most amazing rock band I've seen in many years. Enjoy the ride. They have a new album coming later this summer and just released a new video of a song written as an anime show ending theme, "Protect You." Thank you for this great reaction. Old Upper Midwesterner here.
FYI: After the movie “This Is Spinal Tap” was released the accepted scale for any musical measurement became “0 - 11”. After Band Maid released “ Thrill”, the scale became “1 - Band Maid”.
Loving your reactions... When you said "Everyone play for each other and no one tries to steal the spotlight", that's their whole kinda song writing process. Just serve the song. Hope we get more, would love to see you do "DONT YOU TELL ME" its from the same show
What you said......that's BAND-MAID! I'm 61, I've never heard a band like BAND-MAID before. If it weren't for the backward dumbass record execs that pick and choose what we get to here.......BAND-MAID would be on EVERY hard rock radio station coast to coast.
I am 55, this is the best band ever. There are a lot of great bands, but they all are striving to be what Band -Maid is. Right now the best music is coming out of Japan. A majority of my playlist are Japanese bands.
Yep, they'd still be great songs but they're better with the extra stuff, and very few acts can take two or three extra backing vocalists, an extra guitarist or two, and a keyboard player with them on the road just to add in extra stuff 20 or 30% of the time.
In an interview, Saiki explained about the "?" mark in the title of this song. When Saiki wrote the lyrics, she wanted to use the phrase "I hate you". She decided the title to be "HATE", and then she realized that "HATE" could be read "はて" in Japanese. Because "はて" is typically used in question, she put "?" to make the title "HATE?". I'm sure that Saiki was smiling a lot when decided on this title with "?" because she guessed that English speaking fans would be puzzled by it.😏"はて?" can be translated as "What?"😉
Great reaction. The bass/guitar duel has been referred to as “the argument” so you were spot on when you said the concept, arrangement and intensity of the delivery told the story even more than did the words.
Band-Maid has become my favorite band =) These ladies really know what their doing and every song is so good Po ! Please check out the "From Now On" MV or "Real Existence" Official Live Thanks ✌🤘🎀
You got it! They got the GROOVE..They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent. 11 years and 130+ songs of pure greatness 🔥❤️ For me..Kanami Tōno, lead guitarist and composer is the most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Always composes to the whole band, very unselfish guitarist, plays always just what serves the song the most. Pure genius as a composer, true Rock’n Roll Star on stage. Magical band, amazing musicians, close friends. Lovin’ Band-Maid ❤️
Yes, the rhythm section (bassist MISA, drummer Akane, and rhythm guitarist Miku) is air-tight, and Akane and Miku's work allow for MISA and lead guitarist Kanami to do their thing. Lead singer Saiki has grown by leaps and bounds in both her vocal delivery and on-stage charisma over the years. Great reaction. 👍 I hope to see many more! After a few more listens, it would be a good idea to head over to Ohrenje's channel to take in his documentaries of each of the members to see where they came from and how they got together.
Thanks for the reaction and comments. You are right that no one tries to take the spotlight. They all play to serve the song. 5 great co-leads make up what is arguably the best live rock band on the planet today. Looking forward to your next B-M reaction video. Cheers!
First of all, I dug your song at the end of the video. You have a great voice. You are an excellent reactor and you pointed out a couple of things I hadn't heard before. My favorite part of the song (besides the battle) was the hard stop in the 3d voice. I'm not a musician but I assume you have to be tight to execute that. I think you would enjoy Don't You Tell Me Live from this same concert
Band Maid is: MIKU (mee-koo) Rhythm guitar, backing vocals, writes the lyrics. The band’s founder. The “Hard Rocking Maids” is her vision. KANAMI (kah-nah-mee) Lead guitar, writes and arranges the music”. MISA (mee-sah) Bass. She’s special and the band knows it, the songs are meant to show her off. “The Barefoot Assassin” AKANE (ah-kah-neh) Drums. You can set your watch to her. Happiest drummer on planet Earth. “The Gorilla” SAIKI (sigh-kee) Lead vocals. She can command a room. Great “frontman”. She’s the Team Mom.
Now, for something completely different, watch them perform ENDLESS STORY, as they close that same concert, the last stop on their Tenth Anniversary Tour. I think it will resonate with you in particular, except that it’s secular.
Endless Story /Official live/ shares an end-of-tour and end-of-decade story of a journey any musician or fan can feel. Audience participation is usually intense on this one. Although it's not one of their orchestral or synth-y introductions, they opened it with a backing track -- you'd see why. In this same concert, lead-singer Saiki debuted as her own piano accompanist without the band. If you're curious how or whether they do something, just mention it and you'll get information and suggestions. I'll be there.
It is a celebration and thank you to the fans for their support. It is the culmination of 10 years of blood, sweat and tears. Driving around Japan and Europe in a van, playing in near empty clubs in the very beginning - Miku selling tickets by hand (she's the founder). Fighting with the suits to record music they wrote. Both singers had surgery to remove polyps on their vocal chords. Getting slammed by the pandemic just when they were hitting their stride. All this coming to a glorious apex with Endless Story. An epic emotional performance!
Life Lesson: Don't step out on one of Saiki's friends, or you will end up getting a song written about you... 😜 For future reference, here are the names, phonetics, nicknames, and what they play - Saiki (SYE-kee) : Lead vocals, lyrics, piano Miku (MEE-ku) : Rhythm guitar, lyrics, backing vocals, Miku's Magic Time, a.k.a. Cluppo (KLU-poh) or Pigeon, ends sentences in "po!" to mimic the bird, Leader of the band Kanami (kah-NAHM-ee) : Lead guitar, composer, acoustic guitar, piano, keyboards, backing vocals, a.k.a. Mincho (MEEN-cho) or Dark Mincho when wearing the mostly black maid costume MISA (MEE-zuh) : Goddess of the Bass, a.k.a. The Barefoot Assassin, closest thing I have found to John Entwistle Akane (ah-KAHN-ay) : Drums, a.k.a. The Gorilla, loves bananas, rarely will you see her playing without a smile There are several videos out from this final show of their 10th Anniversary Tour. Good luck with your album, the track you played had a bit of a Train vibe to it.
@@wrighteousj On the 12th of June BAND-MAID performed a song together with a female 3-piece rockband from Mexico in Tokyo City. Both bands are best friends and BAND-MAID invited them to come to Japan and open for them. That's a huge gesture by BAND-MAID. I think that you would love to see these Mexican girls perform live and I suggest one of the following videos. 1. *The Warning - “Automatic Sun” from Tecate Pa’l Norte Festival (Studio Version)* _is says STUDIO VERSION because the smoke machines and fireworks didn't make for a good sound. They also performed this song on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* but the performance isn't as much fun to watch. 2. *The Warning - "Hell You Call A Dream" Live from Pepsi Center CDMX* This is a real live in Mexico City and I think you will enjoy the pipes of the guitarist. 3. *The Warning - EVOLVE (Live on The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards)* MTV is still looking for their roof. 🤣 4. *The Warning - CHOKE Live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022* Their lead singer does not hold back. 5. *The Warning - 23 Live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022* Their drummer also can sing lead ( _while drumming_ )
First of all, your bands song at the end sounds fantastic and you have a really awesome voice. Great reaction and breakdown. New sub here. Especially like the look of the brain overload during the MISA (bassist) and Kanami (lead guitar) conversation. I also love it when Musicians provide insights to the music. You are right, there are no egos in this band and they do what serves the song. One of the many reasons why I love Band-Maid. This was a memorable concert and I was fortunate to be able to watch it in person...the 10th Anniversary Tour Finale at Yokohama Arena. A 33 song 3hr and 40min epic performance, in which "Hate?" was song #27 of the night. Please do continue to react to the Maids. You only have 120+ great songs to go. LOL. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍 Some news... -- The Warning, a world-famous band from Mexico, and BAND-MAID recently completed their amazing 2-man, collab concert in Japan with the introduction of their new song, “Show Them.” -- BAND-MAID released a new song, "Bestie," co-written with Mike Einziger of INCUBUS! The MV dropped May 1. And Band-Maid's new album is nearly ready. -- BAND-MAID HALL TOUR 2024 -- July 5, 2024 (Fri) Osaka, Fenice Sakai Main Hall, -- July 14, 2024 (Sun) Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Kanagawa -- July 21 OSAKA GIGANTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL 2024 -- Aug 16 RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2024 in EZO -- Aug 17 SUMMER SONIC 2024 -- Sept. 8, 2024 TREASURE 05X Festival in Laguna Beach, Gamagori I believe you're gonna wanna know the Maids names at some point: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, SpokesPigeon, and Founder Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead Guitar, Keyboards, Main Composer Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" aka: MISA MISA MISA - Bass Thx, J!
Hate? is where Saiki (singer) was... 'Like You're So Vain, but we also talk about how horrible he is in bed....' (usually Miku - the rhythm guitar/backup singer) does lyrics, but Saiki wanted to do this one - various stories about a famous Japanese singer getting cheated on, it being a national scandal, and her own friends husband cheating are the two I know of, and she - put her feelings to words. LOL. Great vid - And good luck with the release and your show!
Dude just an amazing video and band-maid I checked out their music and really it’s just epic their music is so awesome to listen. Overall great reaction man been listening to your music from working out and just chilling the beach the music is so good and entertaining. I’m so ready for your next song. The hype is real. 💯💯😎👊🤙
The most important thing is that you keep reacting to Band-Maid. Check our Freedom live is you wanna see them haveing a blast together and the best drum solo from Akane
The ultimate slap in the face lyrics, “10 minutes of limp gymnastics!” 😅😅 I’m 64 and was a rocker in the 70’s, playing and listening to. Band-Maid is simply the best rock band to come out in a long time!
from JAPAN. Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID. Your analysis is spot on and I enjoyed listening to it. Each of BAND-MAID's songs has its own diverse atmosphere and structure, which we think you will enjoy. Enjoy the journey of BAND-MAID.
The guitarist wrote this song when she was angry, and you can feel that. The vocalist wrote the text because she was angry (at someone) and that is obvious. No fake whatsoever, true feelings all the way.
Band Maid is: MIKU (mee-koo) Rhythm guitar, backing vocals, writes the lyrics. The band’s founder. “Hard Rocking Maids” is her vision. KANAMI (kah-nah-mee) Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she writes and arranges the music. “Mincho” MISA (mee-sah) Bass. She’s special. The band’s secret weapon. Kanami writes songs that purposely feature her. She is “The Barefoot Assassin” AKANE (ah-kah-neh) Drums. You can set your watch to her. Always on point, she drives this boat. The Happiest drummer on Earth. “The Gorilla” is the other half of the best rhythm section anywhere. SAIKI (sigh-kee) Lead vocals. “Front man”. Cool as the other side of the pillow. She’s also the Team Mom.
Great reaction, and i really enjoyed your song at the end as well. I'm going to check out your Spotify now. Definitely check out more Band-Maid. They have a huge discography with a good amount of variety.
Excellent reaction man. I'm looking forward to seeing more. These five ladies are as legit as they come. They've been rocking for more than a decade now and they still love playing together. There are no egos and no drama. Everyone shares the spotlight. This was song #27 out of 33 from their 10th anniversary concert at Yokohama arena last November. It was an unbelievable concert. I streamed it live and I have the DVD. Money well spent. 😁 I really dug your band's song at the end of the video. Very cool.
You are getting why rock fans are completely in love with this band. It's not enough to be a bunch of pretty faces--the pop world is full of that, and it's boring as hell. This band just tears shit up, and they do it with a smile. MISA is in the conversation for best rock bassist in the world now, and they are all phenomenal musicians--even Miku, who couldn't play guitar when she founded the band (who even does that???)
All of the 10s that you gave are for things that are simply standard procedure for Band-Maid. There are no ego clashes. They truly enjoy what they do and appreciate what each band member brings to the table and give them all the time they need to shine. They also appreciate their fans for supporting them which allows them to do what they love. Band-Maid does use some backing tracks, mainly for keyboards and song intros. They do have some vocals on the backing tracks as well and even certain guitar parts on complex songs that make it hard for 2 guitarists to cover all of. Their drummer Akane Hirose definitely has a click track in her ear and she is awesome at keeping time with it. There was an incident during their last US tour where Akane forgot to reconnect her in-ear monitors after coming back from a break which caused her to miss the cue to start. They stopped playing and she apologized profusely and showed everyone that she was plugging them back in. I'm not sure if you are aware that Miku Kobato (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder) was originally the only lead singer in the band. She quickly decided that her voice was "too bright" for the music they wanted to play so they searched for another lead singer and found Saiki Atsumi who was already signed to the same company. At the time of their first video for Thrill, Miku did not know how to play guitar but was talked into buying a guitar to hold for the video. She bought a Rickenbacker because it fit their black and white image and looked cool. She has now become a very good rhythm guitarist, thanks to her teacher Kanami Tono (Lead Guitar) and is an essential part of their live sound. She even has her own signature guitar called Flappy Pigeon made by Zemaitis who have endorsed her for quite a few years now. Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, Endless Story, and both versions (live and video) of Don't You Tell Me which would make an epic double header reaction. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be much different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it!
Great reaction on two levels:1) your facial expression of laughing/ elated/ freaked out / just got punched in the stomach (we've been there too 😊); and 2) it does tend to be instrumentalists who pick up on as many things as quickly as you did, so I'd say your band is very lucky to have a vocalist with such good musical sense rather than just someone who sings really well. You'll be pleased, I think, to know that Saiki, the lead singer, despite being the youngest and last to join, is called "the control tower" by her bandmates as she both has the final say in what they will or won't do musically, and also is a source of broad musical ideas steering them in new directions rather than repeating themselves. She recently surprised everyone by being her own accompanist in concert on both acoustic guitar and piano for a couple songs - probably learned largely by rote but still mind- boggling since she never played any instrument before. Eta: Saiki also comes up with their setlists, which change for every concert.
That guitar/bass battle wasn't a "battle", but rather an argument between the boyfriend(bass) and the girlfriend(guitar). It starts with the bass in what sounds like starting an argument. The guitar answers back. The bass says something snarky. The guitar mocks the bass and then says something "smart", which then angers the bass, leading to a "shouting match" where they try to yell over each other, eventually ending with the guitar having the last word and the bass mumbling away. Oh...and the drums are the neighbors banging on the wall😂
They do play to backing tracks, but they don't have to. The airlines lost the computer once. They just rearranged the setlist and the show went on. They were more concerned with the sneakers they had bought in L.A.But for 'Hate?' probably the only thing on the backing track was the drum intro. Akane doesn't do Blast Beats. They're more controlled than that.
You may need a new scale for Bandmaid, the "Spinal Tap" scale that goes to eleven 👍😎 Have you introduced your band-mates to them yet? Forgot - gotta love MISA's grin when she's playing and knowing she's slaying!
Yeah. They're BandMaid and their life is dope! So glad you share your music after the reaction! You certainly have a set of pipes on you! Keep reacting to the Maids when you can! Best wishes for your upcomingvshow in LA!
OK man, now I'm starting to low-key hate you 😉You love Band-Maid, my fav band. You're too damn handsome, thoughtful, and well-spoken. And I like the tracks you've put at the end of your reactions from the band you're in. Big question: Can I buy your music somewhere?
I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live) I'd also suggest The Warning. - They're another all female rock band from Mexico I suggest these TW songs: Money, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (official video with Alessia Cara), Evolve (live VMAs) & Dust To Dust (live Teatro)
Lyrically: obviously she still thinks about the person, it's not resolved yet...she still have feelings for the person. BAND-MAID is just amazing! Amazing song and great reaction!
Gotta echo others, check out Endless Story, the closer from this concert. It's a seminal experience. Post your tour locations. I'd come see you if your close to SE Va
I think you will find yourself listening/watching/reacting to much more Band-Maid. I think you will also find out about a great number of other fabulous female bands, from Japan, Korea, Mexico and other places. Rock is in a resurgence, almost as a reaction to the "Pop" scene, with it's overly processed instruments and vocals, here comes ladies playing rock and doing it stripped down and in your face. And we LOVE it. I look forward to your next reaction. Although I would suggest you setup a "Releases" tab with the playlist of your music, like Band-Maid and many other bands have done. As an example, on Band-Maid's YT Channel you will find almost their entire discography, other than their first release, which from my understanding may be tied up in a "Rights" issue. But almost everything else they have done/recorded is there except for a couple of "One-Offs" that have only been performed live.
Nice reaction to HATE? which seems to be spelled wrong. Should be HATE!!!!! Now check out one of the best Rock instrumentals from any band: FROM NOW ON. I'm dyin' if I'm lyin'. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 60.5
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄) Please react to an official live video "Endless Story" from the same concert. It is a moving song that must be a caress to your ears.
Well.. They use backtrack and click but its always FX or keys or rare 3rd vocal, its never main part of arrangement. Its the correct use of backtrack in my mind.
If you get a chance to see them live, it is an absolute must! They only use backing tracks very rarely and it's usually just a piano into, played by Kanami, the Guitarist. There is a version of Saiki, the lead singer doing a song called Choose Me solo on the piano. There are also a TON of fan cam videos from their concerts, and the energy is just astounding. And they are so humble and love their fans.
Great reaction and the singer Saiki wrote the lyrics; there was a lot of cheating occurring during covid lock down in the press at that time and Saiki was pissed. The singer LISA (a friend of drummer Akane) was also affected by this as her husband was caught cheating and created a big scandal.
Thanks for your professional reaction to the maids. I love when musicians share their thoughts. And your band sounds fantastic as well.Best of luck and if you ever come to the East coast I will come to watch you perform.
If you want to hear the metal side of the Maids, check out the mv Shambles. Take your head right off. I subbed to your bands page. Like your sound. Luck to you brother
There's another video from this show where Misa and Kanami go at it like this. But for the life of me I can't recall the song name. They are on the platform over Akane's drums.
This from their Billboard Japan interview a few years ago: Interviewer to Saiki: The lyrics to “HATE?” which is just seething with anger, are wonderful. I think you’re the only one who could have written them. SAIKI: When I wrote the words to that song, I was really pissed off at the kind of person who cheats on their partner. [Laughs] That was the emotional state that I used when I wrote “HATE?”
@@wrighteousj another good korean rock band is called Touched they are more main stream but have killer singer and sound more polished. Songs I'd recoomend are Highlight and Love is Dangerous
