When Kanami speaks to me she uses Garyama, a complex dialect of my own London slang & her local Daikanyama tongue. No one else understands us but we do have fun ordering burgers at Macdonalds drive-thru's.🙂

These ladies are magnificent and have never been disappointing since I started watching them a few years ago. Yes, they do mix English and Japanese. I'm not sure, but I think they use English mainly when there is no Japanese word that conveys the same information. But this is only a guess. MISA, MISA, MISA! She is probably one of the best bassists in Japan. Kanami is one of the best rock guitarists in the world, in my book. And I believe she not only taught Miku, Band Maid's 2nd vocalist and spokesperson/founder to play guitar. I also have read somewhere that she taught Tomo-Zo of Gacharic Spin (Another band you should check out). Semi, keep the reactions coming, we love your enthusiasm and lovely smile.

@@GaryHolloway-810 Come to think of it..not only has it come a long way...But also it has traveled around Japan!..Had been carrying it in my luggage since th concert on the 9th!..So it has been to Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Hiroshima, Kyoto and all around Tokyo! ..and Scotland before heading to you!..haha!...I had to ditch 2 pairs of foot wear to make room in my luggage for my concert purchases....So made the trip in one pair of Skechers.

Hey Sketchers are comfortable, a range of chunky hiking boots are my footwear of choice & a pair of awesome EMP Black series sneakers with raven designs. I'll send you a pic of them if you're really interested.🤣 Talking of deliveries i tracked an item that at 9am was in a London depot & it didn't get to me until 8pm. I found it had travelled all the way down to Kent before looping back to London again. What's all that about.🤷‍♂️

@@GaryHolloway-810 I have never brought Sketchers..to expensive for my pocket...But because I knew I would be doing alot of walking in Japan I wanted something that was light and designed for walking. So splashed out...Last thing I wanted was blisters!..So I brought bamboo socks as I heard they were good for wicking moisture...I didn't have time to bed them in...So I got a couple of large blisters in the first couple of days..But I took blister patches which took care of the those...They were fine after that...comfy and very light..ideal for lots of walking..Money well spent...Won't wear them here in Scotland..the state of pathes here will tear them up. I am hoping against hope I can wear them again one day ..in Japan..But I doubt it.

Band-Maid, the music, the sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them next time - which in the USA, is FRIDAY NIGHT in LA Feb. 10! Next up in the states is "ARABAKI ROCK FEST 23" end of April, "Welcome to Rockville 2023" on May 18, 2023, and at “POINTFEST 2023" in St. Louis, USA on May 27, 2023.

You and your mom were one of the first reactions I watched doing Band-Maid. The Maids are opening for The Last Rockstars in Los Angeles on the 10th and will be back in the US in May performing at 3 music festivals.

In the US when all is good, everything's "hunky dory". BUT! Someone in another comment mentioned this about "Hunky dory"...makes more sense now.... This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing" BUT! again.. . Google translate came up with "take it seriously"....

Nice to see you again! Miku (rhythm guitarist and back-up vocals) writes most of the lyrics, including those on Influencer. In a recent interview she said, "The lyrics of _influencer_ are about the self-approving influencers that are so common among young Japanese today" (really any country though). She's prominent on social media herself, but worries about people who "surrender love" for likes. And yeah, MISA's bass solo = 🔥

Making 'Hunky Dory' once again the phrase of the moment. Filmed in nearly 100 degrees heat these Ladies making a point while suffering for their art. Band Maid have a good selection of instrumentals all worth checking out. Yes the lyrics written by Miku (Red Rose) are a mixture of Japanese and English so we can all join in with something at concerts.

@@SemiCharmer If you go to the official Band Maid RU-vid channel. You have the Onset, From Now On etc. Also Without Holding Back and many others. But start with From Now On. It is the most recent and first 'official mv' of a music video they put out. Onset is also on the official YT channel and is filmed from a concert.

And the Maidiacs are a loyal bunch. Tons of views will follow. Have you heard any of their earlier work? Much of it has become concert standards for them. “Non-fiction days,” from 2016, official music video, elements of 2000’s rock. “DICE,” 2018, official video, Guns&Roses-esque Or my personal favorite: “Blooming.” From 2019, It’s a rollercoaster ride and a masterpiece. One fan described it as “being thrown off a cliff into the arms of an angel”

You never noticed in the other Band-Maid songs? :P Yes, I think I dubbed it as Nihonglish (Nihongo + English). They've been doing that since the beginning (sing both in Japanese and English).

English is a second language for most that is non native english speaker and adding it in song is quite common... when you mix two language in a song you can use more vocab for the lyric some part will sound good in English and some good in others... japan been doing it along time, sometime the tittle of the song is in English but the song only have 1 word in English... at the end of the day language what language doesnt really matter if it sounds good its good

It's kind of crazy because I mean... Now that I think about it, Rammstein is one of the biggest bands I listen to that is out of the US and I always thought their translated songs sounds weird. Along with OOMPH! as well. But now that you kind of laid it out on the table, I see now it totally just flows together better and I never looked it that way! I like it!
