These women are a Japanese national treasure, creative, musically gifted, they have no overpowering ego's ( no Yoko's either) They are just so good! I admire them so much as they have found and used some secret formula lost to the rest of us mere mortals! So glad I found them, got to believe that all the rest of the internet fans are saying the same.
This song was the last one written for their Unseen World album. The concept was to make a song that was a bridge between the early Band-Maid sound and their current direction. Band-Maid always writes the music and melodies first, and Miku adds lyrics that she thinks go with the music. I'm not sure how common this is, but it seems unusual to me. So Kanami is free to dream up whatever she wants with no constraints, and she's seemingly endlessly creative.
I think in the May _Player_ interview, they said "No God" was pretty much the only song where Kanami had requested a particular lyrical subject. (The downbeat nature of Mincho's own attempts at writing lyrics seems to be a source of some mirth among the band.)
Kanami’s work ethic is almost frightening. She adds more than a dozen new riffs to her files every day and writes at least one new song each week. Saiki says Mincho writes heavy when she’s stressed. Considering the totality of “Unseen World” I am amazed by this woman.
After Warning maybe "Blooming" (MV) or "Real Existence" (Live) or a beautiful slower song "Day Dreaming" (MV) or an earlier pop-punk song "Alone" (MV) .
@@paulinapinorivera3539 I'll tag on an oldie but a goodie "Shake That" with great drumming and solo work throughout. I'm not a guitar player but I love some of those cords (Diminished or something) in the verse. This is the "Photo Collage version." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mvprQomyWcw.html
You dont have to say much about this band... One sentence is enough: They are probably (in my opinion they are) the best band in the world right now... If you consider all aspects of music, talent, chemistry, songwriting, lyrics and charisma...
Band Maid doing Band Maid things! That says it all! Can't put these ladies in a particular music box, they'll just break out and do something else great! So versatile and skilled at everything they do! Our rock never dies, ever! Forever! Hell Yes! I can't wait for them to take over the world!
Your favorite Band-Maid song is the last one you listen to. We all have same Band-Maid symptoms. And don't forget to check out their older albums. Depending on your taste and mood, any song can be your all time favorite.
I heard "Manners" right after it dropped on RU-vid, it fed this old Hard Bluesy Rock (Is that a genre?) lovers soul in a way it hasn't been fed in a long time. Each time the chorus comes around, it just gets better and better. After "Manners" and "Warning!" I knew the "Unseen World" album was something special. BTW Clutch! 🤘😎🤘
Until I discovered Band-Maid, Clutch was my go to...🤔...not sayin' that I still don't love Clutch(I've got tickets to see them in August), but these ladies have changed the way I listen/approach music!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘
@@patron40silver I don't know why I was thinking August, it's September, they start the 1st half of their US tour in Norfolk. It looks like mainly east coast dates before they go to Europe. A week after that, D.R.I. is playing, goin' old school!!!🤘🤘🤘
@@RyanMear I have a few of Clutche's older albums, the rest on Spotify. Have you heard of William Elliott Whitmore? He opened for Clutch a few years back, very unique voice. Check out Hell or High Water, Mutiny, or Johnny Law. He's more folksy. 👍👍🤘🤘🤘
I look forward to your reaction every time. I'm a big fan of BAND-MAID in Japan. I'm really happy that people like you who have ears to listen to music really enjoy and appreciate their music. I've been listening to music for 56 years and met them. They are real. Their awesomeness is that they don't take shape. Many bands can't get out of the genre that is in shape. They have already exceeded it, as you feel. Please continue to listen to their music. I'm looking forward to it.
With every song on UW, we're witnessing another evolution of Band-Maid right before our very eyes and ears. Band-Maid brings light, smiles and energy to our lives and is, imo, a world treasure! "Aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, awesome!" Thx, Ryan.
Manners is probably my favorite BM song, as an old school groove hard rock type guy myself. My favorite Band Maid is when they ride that line between groove oriented hard rock and metal. I don't know why The Dragon Cries gets so much grief from many BM fans, it's a great song. Maybe many BM fans just arn't used to songs that don't jump into a major key for the chorus lol. My only complain with TDC is I don't know why Visconti had to drown everything in so much reverb. Some of Saikis best vocals though, although Saiki's vocals in Manners might be my overall favorite, especially her part towards the end where the instrumentation is leaving a lot of space behind her.
Manners is my favorite, too, followed by Turn Me On and Dice. Another reviewer,Chase Carneson, pointed how brave Band-Maid was with Manners; they performed 4 distinctive riffs which could have been used for 4 songs. They chose not to be lazy. He's a musician like you and gives awesome reviews, pointing out much detail. I really like your reviews of them,as well. You're quite talented,as I saw when you included a small clip of you on the guitar. I look forward to your next Band-Maid review.
Agree. Turn me on is a great straight forward rocker that's a lot of fun and let's Kanami get her wah wah on Unfortunately, it doesn't get a lot of play since they took down the live video.
*BAND-MAID is a KALEIDOSCOPE of genres "Touch the Rainbow"* 🌈 _(Watching _*_BAND-MAID OKYUJI TOUR Autum-Winter 2017_*_ on _*_BAND-MAID_*_ Prime Loving Every minute of it)_
If there’s ever 5 women that deserve super stardom,it’s these 5 wonderful musicians. Really remarkable and deserve all of the spoils that come with success. Just need to convince the US mainstream that The Maids are the real deal. Hopefully it’s just a matter of time...the more that see them perform live, the more appreciation they should receive.
My new playlist too.. Lol Everything else has taken a backseat... So many songs to listen too, and all fantastic.. Everyone better than the last.. Best wishes from France..
There is 2CD release of "Unseen World" where 1st CD is more a tribute to their older songs and their writer's made by band in current stage of maturity and skill. With 2nd CD more aimed at future and progress for a band. Manners is placed on both 1st and 2nd CD
The ladies just keep getting better and better, don't they? They absolutely frickin rock! Misa seems to be getting more adventurous riffing done in the background of their recent tunes, more so than previously. Speaking as a 66 year old prog/jazz/metal bassist, this makes me very happy indeed...👍🏻🤯💖 BTW, another great reaction my friend...keep them coming. Especially Bandmaid, of course...but also NIGHTWISH, my other current favorite band. Thanks...👍🏻
Band-Maid and MISA have pushed the Bass guitar forwards as something more than a bridge between the drums and lead guitar. The band are a perfect storm no wonder Miku is excited by the future.
This track is a great example of their wide array of their musical pallet. Their world class level musicianship has allowed them the freedom to incorporate the best elements of Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Metal, Funk, Punk and Pop to form into a track that is familiar yet unique with their own signature. Since you enjoyed this track my I suggest "The Dragon Cries" it has similar characteristics to "Manners" and I feel you will dig it as well. I also would like to offer a list of my personal favorites for future consideration below: Puzzle (Live), Moratorium (Live), Dice (MV), Secret My Lips (MV), Don't you tell (Live), Non-Fiction Days ( MV or Live), Real Existence (MV, Live) Daydreaming (MV or Live), Blooming (MV), Turn Me On (MV or Live), Choose Me (MV or Live), Glory (MV), Bubble (MV), Fate (Live) I better stop there otherwise I will list them all.
Manners is one of my favorite Band Maid song, and one of my favorite all time song. Theses girls rock so good. Band Maid make Rock and roll great again 💖
If I had to pick a favorite Band Maid song this is it. But then there's another 50 I also love. About a 100 I just like very much. Great reaction brother! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Groove!😊😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
I love Clutch. Been listening to them since the 90s when I first heard A Shogun Named Marcus back whan it was released. Still a favorite of mine. Also really like A Quick Death In Texas. But they have a lot of really good stuff. I've always loved southern blues rock. Old ZZ Top is some fantastic blues rock too.
Never get too much of Manners ! Great to hear Ryan's appreciation, too ! One thing I don't hear much of re this video: the visuals ! As a music vid consists of two things----sight and sound----it is strange how little appreciation one hears of the sight, too !! This vid is soooo wonderfully photographed,-- lit, shot, sequenced,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it is a gem visually as much as aurally ! -----And the weird result?-------the only studio version that is every bit as fabulous as the live version from BandMaid. Ha!...and they said it couldn't be done !! Maybe someone out there can choose one over the other?---I can't !
You've got to get your son to hear some Band-Maid and so some reactions! I had a feeling you were going to like Manners. It's my fave from the new album. I really want to hear it live.
Listen to the pigeon cackle, what an evil laugh coming from a pigeon who want's to take over the world, she isn't shy about her aspirations, domination, unseen world, etc.. bow before your pigeon empress.
Variety is the name of the game with Band Maid. It is impossible to get bored with their music. They are always looking for something new while keeping that hard rock, heavy metal base. And they are more interested in what their fans want than any other band I know of. Remarkable. To add if anyone criticizes their music it is mostly because they only want them to play one kind of song. Sorry...it ain't gonna happen.
That's the Unseen World album for you😂😂😂but well...if you discover the whole discography..100+ songs/ catalogue will blow your mind..like mine ..i was freaking burnt out 🤯..they are crazy AF...😂😂
I was laughing so hard at your reaction 🤣🤣🤣... Because I did the same thing when I heard this song. I think both you and I as musicians hear things in Band-Maids songs that a lot of other people don't hear. I replayed this 5 times with headphones on and had to dissect each incredible instrument. Again loved your reaction, I'm still laughing 😂. I really enjoy your reactions. 👍👍🤘🤘🙏🕊️PO P. S. - I swore a lot too
lol indeed. I think I've replayed the section of "Play ( official live video)" from 45 seconds to 50 seconds ( when Misa starts the band back in after the call and response with Miku) about a billion times because as a musician it's amazing how tight Misa, Akane, and Kanami are in that little spot.
Yeah, band maid are extremely sound technically, and blah blah blah... But what sets them aside is that they really GROOVE as a band. Manners is also one of my favorite songs. Unseen World, for that matter, is my favorite BM album. it has everything, from a grooove masterpiece like "manners" to sheer insanity like "Giovanni" or"black hole"... All it's missing is a ballad, and they released one shortly after... So I consider it part of the album :) You want to hear insanity? listen to the instrumental version of Giovanni. Insta- brain melt : )
Thesaurus...is that Godzilla's missus? They give you all the words you need...Progress...Courage...Clever (Clayver). Saiki is spellbinding in this one. My favourite two songs on the album...!
Band-maid recipes are very addictive. Ingredients are not always the same, but always cooked just right, with the right mix with embellishments on top of it, leaving this irresistible aftertaste. (But of course not for everyone cos there are people who are allergic to some ingredients...lol)
Honestly, this is the kind of music I ike the most of them. This is also the reason, why I like the two previous albums more than Unseen World, although I get more and more used to the songs. But my real Love is Rock with good guitar riffs and a good voice, like they did before.
A great "old school" feel interpreted in a new way! Only BAND MAID can do this, there are other bands that have virtuosos and amazing song writers, but few have such mastery of the medium in every role, this is a once in a lifetime band putting out some great music! BAND MAID forever.
If you loved this (what am I saying it's Band Maid of course you did) check out The Dragon Cries by them. I'm not a musician so take this with a grain of salt but I get similar vibes from that song. Super groovy. Plus the lyrics are all in english. Not that it matters but it's just another thing they can do. Surprising? No. Cool as shit? Well duh it's Band Maid. Keep em' coming!
You nailed that one, Ryan! I feel the same way about this song, it being far and away my favorite off of their new album (which is saying something). I've had bands melt my face off, but Saiki's vocals alone in that last bit where she was getting nasty would melt my face off just by themselves. This song (well, again nothing new for BM), puts a big fan grin on my face after hundreds of listens and I strongly suspect always will. My only request would have been double or triple the length of that guitar solo, but hey...
You shoul watch "Dragon cry,Puzzle/my personal favorite/ Alone,Don't You tell me/Zepp concert version with Misa&Kaname duel ;) /Cross...and many more ;) Btw good reaction and Welcome inthe rabit/or pigeon/ hole. :)
Ryan, thank you for listening to Manners. I'm sure you will like it. I'm not good at listening to English, so I'd appreciate it if you could add subtitles. My next hope is "puzzle". There is a band version and an acoustic version (sung by Kanami and Saiki), and we recommend listening to them continuously. Both are killer.
This song makes me nostalgic and comfortable.Any smell of town and the scenery I saw when I was a kid. It makes me remember that. I really love this song.
Respect tp Clutch but Band Maid is the very best in the world. This is the tip of the iceberg. Five consumate musicians, the best rhythm section anywhere ,great singer, genius composer who writes rock but in much more complex musical forms. Unmatched. Perfection every time and their live shows are legendary.
I love how your son walked in. I've got two sons and this used to happen all the time. Both my boys have moved out now. You can never say enough times how much you love them.
Holy Wow! That was fire from start to finish. For some reason that ending with Miku and Saiki harmonizing made my eyes wet! I love this song! Great reaction and I love your added comments along with your musical insights.
Great reaction and what's your favorite Band-Maid songs? Is it the last song you heard? Just wait, there's more. I'm thinking the next one will be Warning.
You may have noticed by now that their MVs often have little "Easter Eggs" or "In jokes" with the fans. Akane eating, Kaname gushing on Saiki, Miku and a pigeon (or dove). Misa drinking, etc. ;) Look for them and you'll notice its a recurring theme that I think illustrates their strong relationship with their fans and simply fantastic personalities.
They combine so many genres and excel at all of them. Beautiful and amazing!!! My favorite Band Maid song is whichever one I am listening to at the moment. No other band compares to them!!!
Dude u must check band maid "dragon cry" broo..u like manners,u Will like dragon cry as well dude..their are so talented ladies with their instrument..little story' about them it Will blow ur mind..miku,first time make this band ,she was learning the guitar bro!!n got the contract zemaitis guitar company from Japan(her own signature guitar dude!!awesome!!),n not just that, meanwhile Corona make lockdown entire world!!they not stoped bro, their practice n learning more!!each day!!with their instrument..Miku sensei(teacher) are kanami dude!!how cool is that hell yeahhh🤘⚡🔥,welcome to maidiacs world dude!!!..great reaction btw dude, stay safe n Godspeed
@@RyanMear well the story begins Miku stop work in Maids cafe in japan,n then make a band!she recruit kanami first on internet(how cool is that bro, just knowing on internet!!😜)n kanami recruit Akane aka the gorrila..then Akane recruit misa the bare foot asassin, because their are close friend.little story' about misa, she is a good drinking dude!!🤘she loves whiskey n beer bro 😜,n always bring her botol on show live broo..the last one Saiki are recruit on audition..what a story' broo n yes,Miku started this band not very skill on guitar dude, but when she team up with this band, her skill more upgrade dude!!to the next level, with kanami ofcourse as her guitar sensei🤘so dope, they all are humble n funny dude!!
@@RyanMear yes, Miku could not play any instruments when she started recruiting the girls. Miku originally wanted Saiki to have a guitar as a prop, because it would look better. Saiki said she only wanted to sing, so Miku had to carry the guitar instead. In the beginning she only did a cord now and then, but now she plays for real 😄
@@RyanMear that's Thrill! She has come a long way since then. Kanami is her guitar Sensei, and she says the speed in which Miku has progressed, she needs to step up her own game so that she does not stagnate. Miku is still nervous whenever Kanami tells her to show her progress. Miku said she would rather perform in front of thousands of people, than performing under the inspecting eye of Kanami 😂
For sure this song when it dropped jumped up on my favorite song list... Such a damn good song. Reminds me of that classic 70s groove rock sound. I listened to this song for like 2 hours straight when it dropped. i love all their songs, some of my favorites are Puzzle, Wonderland, Clang, Daydreaming, Take me Higher, etc. ... Too many to name lol. This song just completely captivated me.
I went through months of new favorite songs, but I think Manners (Helter Skelter on bass steroids) No God and Black Hole, all so different, all incredible. What this band is doing is just awe inspiring ! by the way, love the channel Ryan :)
Hey man, enjoyed your reaction again. On the special edition of their CD "Unseen World" the songs are split into two CD's named "Roots" (Afterlife is off the roots CD), and "Progress" (No God, Warning is off Progress). One track appears on both CD's , that song is "Manners". The band said, in an interview, that "Manners" represents the core sound of Band Maid on the CD. When I first heard Band Maid, I was like you, smiles and finding each song to be my "new" favorite. After Warning, you should give the slightly older song "Daydreaming (MV)" a listen. It will just add to the appreciation of how wide a genre range they can play...(Until you hear their acoustic songs, then it shows their genre range even more lol)
Hey man I just wanted to say that you are without a doubt one of the coolest Band-Maid reviewers I have seen here on RU-vid. Also that interaction between you and your son was very endearing.
Loved the reaction and I see your enjoying our ladies.....Also If you want to hear some crazy arrangement? Listen to Band-Maid YOLO. I feel it gets overlooked by many...What a great song!!
Thanks for doing this pearl! This song has climbed to the top of my list. It has so much cool little details from each musicians, while it is a damn great in general too. Just loving it.
you have now probably already listened to warning...not sure if you realized yet or not but warning,no god and manners are songs 1,2and 4 respectivly from the new album with after life as song 3 :) they really are a magical band
You mentioned pop singers dabbling in rock. Two that are pretty cool are Demi Lovato's "Get Back" and Harry Styles 2017 Victoria's Secret opening song. Demi could have been a rock goddess. But Band Maid RULES ROCK!!
Nice reaction. This song is amazing and I can see why is their more "Clutch-esque" song (Clutch is one of my favorites bands as well). This kind of rock is part of their DNA, because Kanami and MISA have some blues rock influences (MISA has said that she's very fan of Jimi Hendrix thanks to her mother). They have more of these songs, check out "The Dragon Cries" and "flying high" (this one on Spotify, because there's no MV or live videos of this song).
