What you thought was keyboard is Koto (traditional instrument) sampled in the backing track. The melody is very traditional too. Very tasty.

Well yeah they can get pretty heavy in some ways but then, on headphnes parts of _Unseen World_ are basically the Nine-Assed Peyote Demon reaching in and rearranging the different parts of one's brain 😊 If you like rock in general, they've got a favorite song for you in their catalogue.

Great point about the resolution affecting the audio! Might explain why many have commented about recent videos sounding muffled and compressed. As for more songs to try, hard because Band Maid does the whole range of rock. Not a one trick pony. Best I can suggest is a 2 in 1 video of Manners/Black Hole. Two different songs, bluesy rock to controlled chaos. Also some love for the drummer, Akane. Not flashy, but solid, tasty, and musical.

Band-Maid and The Warning co-wrote a song "Show Them" and performed the song at the joint concert in Tokyo. This song is in the Band-Maid new album "Epic Narratives" (release date Sept. 25th). We are hoping they upload the live video of the song sometime soon!

PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘 Let's see if we can provide some information: -MISA is playing her signature Black Cloud Black Smoker 5 string bass. Black Cloud is a custom luthier out of Japan. She's using Ag -Miku, the second lead vocalist, backing vocalist, rhythm guitar, main lyricist and band founder. She plays Zemaitis Guitars and is currently playing her signature model, "Flappy Pigeon". She is the one who uses the EVH. - Kanami, lead guitarist and the genius composer of Band-Maid started with Addictone guitars, where they created two signature guitars. But since 2016, she's been a PRS user. The Angry Larry was the one used in this video. She just showed off her brand new PRS Private Stock Guitar, 3 live concerts ago, on the first of their "Hall Tour" Okyu-ji's (What they call their live concerts, which translates to "Servings"). She recently switched from Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier to Bogner. -Keyboards you are hearing and any additional effects are done by the Kanami. Band-Maid does use backing tracks to add instrumentation, but when they are playing live, the 4 primary instruments are all live. -This song "Protect You" is a contracted song for the outro theme for the anime "Grendizer U". Although there is the Band-Maid sound and style, I think it's a bit more straight forward lyrically then their normal stuff. -Extended/added intros and solos or solo conversations are added to Live performance as a treat for the Masters and Princesses (What they call their fans) attending their Okyuji's. They like to give them something extra as a "Thank you" for making the time and joining them at an Okyu-ji. -As for The Warning collaboration song, "Show Them", it was performed for the first time live at their dual concert in Japan. Unfortunately someone released a bootleg, as you mentioned, and people picked it up and reacted to them and got copyright struck, as the song was not published and/or digital registered. The copyright strike process was the only option to shut down the song. Why would they not take more precautions with a live play of the song before the official publish/digital registering? Well, in Japan it is illegal to record or video in concerts unless specified. Pony Canyon, is usually pretty "loose" about copyright, but this one was the exception to the rule. Think of it this way. Can you imagine if someone was part of pre-screening sample viewing of a Marvel Movie coming out and someone released a copy on YT. I'm sure there would be some quick action from Disney legal. As for next songs: Bone's definitely should watch the two you have seen, whether it's part of your reaction videos or not. We Maidiacs don't mind hearing the same song if it's being introduced to someone new on the reaction. "From Now On" OMV - a kick 🍑 instrumental. Kanami on the lead guitar does the singing in this one. Since Bone's mentioned the instruments. "Onset" OLV - another kick 🍑 instrumental. You seemed to like the bass, so watch MISA do her slight of hand trick. "Manners" & "Black Hole" OLV - a two-for which will give another two feels from their diverse portfolio. "Manners" a more groovy classic rock song and "Black Hole"....fasten your seatbelts! A chaotic ride into a black hole. At 220 bpm, currently their fastest song. "Daydreaming" OMV - a rock ballad masterpiece. My favorite song and why not, in an interview Kanami mentioned it's her favorite song to play. If you want to do this as a two-for, there's a copy of the Live performance from the 10th Anniversary Tour Finale at Yokohama Arena floating around out there (same show as the "Hate?" recording). This one has an extended intro by Kanami. A tribute to her Grandmother who it was her dream to play in front of in Yokohama Arena.

Best rock band on the planet. You've only scratched the surface. Watch anything live, they're an amazing live band.

The base's used by Misa are custom from Black Cloud. She has a custom signature model (not in this video). The rhythm guitarist (Miku) uses Zemitis and has a signature model called the flappy pigeon. The lead guitarist Kanami uses PRS and is featured on PRS web site Artists. She also has a signature model from Addictone custom guitars.

On their studio tracks they usually keep solos short and sweet.

Nice one. Easy sub. After Hate and Protect You, maybe try something a little lighter, to check out their versatility. Daydreaming is a lot of people’s favorite, but they have excellent taste and enough creativity that they won’t release a bad song, so you can’t really go wrong.

Band Maid did a video of two songs in one video during covid I believe. The songs are "Manners" and "Black Hole." Both songs are demonstrations of the talents of each member including Saiki, the vocalist. The two songs are also extrememly different and showcase exactly how extremely good every band member is. I would recommend this video for your friends next listen to Band Maid. I believe the video was done in 2021. I really enjoyed your reaction and the studied efforts to investigate the best sound. I learned something too and I have subscribed too.

Great reaction and hope you friend enjoys Band-Maid and twice is always good, you can never have too much Band-Maid. This song is the ending song for the new anime Grendizer U (airing starting in late July in Japan) and is a re-telling of an old anime from the 1970's, basically a mecha anime war series about two star crossed lovers in their fight to save earth from invading aliens and the lyrics are directly related to the story line. Thanks again for reacting to Band-Maid, it helps to spread the word about this great band.

I know you did the higher quality video and it sounded better... But they do have straight instrumental tracks that he might enjoy as well. Check out From Now On. (lead guitarist does the keyboard stuff that gets mixed into the track)

Yeah, this song is very compact, slamming tons into a short span, as it's a closer for an anime. Generally if you want to hear the instruments better, check out the live stuff (which, of course, will vary a little in terms of sound quality, but for the official live videos tend to be pretty good). One of the things I love about this band is their even mix. You can really appreciate the rhythm section which is amazing (like the rest of the band.) Some fans complain that Kanami's lead guitar is hard to hear but I guess this is relative to the usual Western mix w/ the lead guitar much louder. Akane and Misa are doing so much on the drum and bass that you don' t want to miss, and it's nice to hear Miku's rhythm guitar. I'd suggest "From Now On" for a listen. Cheers.

Hate ? , which you already heard is the newer performance of a song they already had that is being used to grab people's attention as you stated. Quite a few of us were pulled into the pigeon hole by a previous song called Domination. I would recommend watching the Official Live Version of that.

Band-Maid has a couple of Instrumental only videos. From Now On is an official music video while Onset is an official LIVE video. That'll get Bone more familiar with the ladies and the instruments they play. :)

This song is another anime commission, so it is compact and snappy. The mix is a bit of a mess, and overly compressed, as are so many of their studio recordings are. PROTECT YOU is a great songs demonstrating the continuous evolution of BAND-MAID, but for introducing the band to a potential fan, go back to the live performance of DOMINATION, from 2021, for extended instrumentals and enthusiastic audience interaction.
