DICE, Moratorium, Domination, Play, Choose Me, Daydreaming, Don't You Tell Me.. The list goes on.. A great band and I should know.. I have virtually all their catalogue in my collection!
Hey, guys. First, check out a few of their awesome live performances before they're taken down: ru-vid.com/show-UC5q-a21ctifYAJr0MLv2kkA ; ru-vid.com/show-UCyaZU3Ct58N1tO39oOB9KhQ ; Second, Band-Maid is about to embark on their third limited world tour; and third, Band-Maid is fast becoming one of the best hard rock bands in the world. Their music composition, thanks to Kanami's guitar (Ka-na-me) and Misa's bass and incredible chops and music background, Akane's powerful drive and novel kick drum patterns, Miku's writing and personality (which I hope she'll tighten up a bit) and Saiki's super strong rock Goddess voice (hope she doesn't blow it out anytime soon) and stage presence all go to make Band-Maid a major world act and culture influence.
Great reaction guys. Yeah, Kanami's guitar playing is very reminiscent of old-school rock and thrash players which is weird because she considers Carlos Santana one of her main influences. She kinda reminds me more of Eddie Van Halen though since she uses a lot of single-string trem picking and tapping.
The best female bands have been coming out of the " LAND OF THE RISING SUN " for the past decade now! The musicianship and originality is mind blowing! Check out Scandle, Bridear, DOLL$BOXX, Aldious, LoveBites for starters, because there are so many incredible Japanese female bands to be discovered. This isn't even talking about JROCK groups like Baby Metal, X-Japan, Gazette, Wagakki Band, OneOK Rock, Vamps, Larc En Ciel, Maximum The Hormone, just to name a few that will get your attention.
What @Swedish Fukei said. Moratorium, Play and for me Puzzle are all "required". Dice from the new album is really good, so long as a creepy dolls doesn't get to you 😎 I'm an old time, old school rocker and I now own all their albums. I was impressed immediately when someone sent me a link to one of the MVs (Real Existence). The premise as maids they stated in one interview was that no one expects them to play real hard rock, you would expect Hello Kitty JPop. A contrast that works well I think, since they can and do bring it on everything I see and listen to. Loved your reactions and comments/critiques , so new subscriber here! And just some info, the 5 are: Misa: bass Akane Hirose: drums, acting band leader Kanami Tono: lead guitar, main composer
If you like the battle, and you haven't already (I know this vid is 3 months old at this point), check out "BAND MAID LIVE kanami vs misa (Turn me on/Don't you tell me). At around 6:30 in, there is an epic duel between the two, it's amazing.
I don't know if the original idea for the maid outfits was supposed to troll everyone or not, but I feel like that's exactly what it does...in a good way. It's like they were together and thought...hey, we're a bunch of young cute girls that want to make a hard rock band. Nobody is gonna take us serious anyway until we show them how much we rock...so lets just wear maid outfits so they doubt us even more to begin with...that way, they'll be even more blown away when they realize how awesome we are. Plus its a genius marketing/promotional idea. People love a gimmick because they want to bash on it or fall for it. Either way it gets attention and if you can back up the attention with real talent, then it stops being a gimmick and turns into just good ole fun.
When they formed most of the girls where working in maid bars to pay the bills. That's how they showed up to rehearse. Somebody noted that they looked like a maid band. Plus the Japanese are all about juxtaposition. They like different.
These ladies kill it. And this is one of their songs that isn't as strong as their others IMO. Don't get me wrong. I still get a chill up my spine when I hear this one. Well worth diving into the rest of the catalog.
How nice to see more and more people reacting to BAND-MAID like this. More or less intense but every time more than just positive. Now try to find one BAND-MAID song thats not good. Tryyyyyy 😄🤘
If you want to be pleasantly surprised, 'weird-ed out' ... AND absolutely amazed at the same time, watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zTEYUFgLveY.html (Warning: this may cause unexpected and unpredictable reactions in your brain and spine at first. However, don't panic, after new pathways have formed in your brain and nervous-system, those will be replaced by endorphin surges.) BTW, if you like the bass, check out Japanese metal more: they put way more emphasis on the bass and give it room to shine, compared to 'Western' metal.
Love me some Band Maid. Watch their live version of “Play”. It rocks even harder than this song imo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YeiIju_t1D8.html
It's been 4 or 5 years since you listened to BAND MAID and you're missing a lot. BAND MAID was on a sold out tour of the US last year and they have released a quite a few MV's.
