There’s a lot more detail from the real men of Easy in the documentary “We Stand Alone: the Men of Easy Company.” It has stock footage from the war and lots of interviews that weren’t used in the series. I think you’d love it!

Congrats for making it to the final episode! If you decide to watch “The Pacific,” be aware that it has even more intense and disturbing violence than Band of Brothers. It is a good series, though.

Sgt Grant was able to live a mostly normal life. He occasionally had difficulty speaking and had partial paralysis in his left arm, but was otherwise okay. He owned and operated a little tobacco shop in San Francisco, and died in 1986.

Well done Ella, for finishing this series. It was obviously very emotional for you to get through the more difficult episodes, and the difficult moments in the easier episodes, but you carried on like a real trooper. I think you said your grandfather was in the US military, I'm sure he would be very proud to see you do this. You asked about filming locations, on IMDb for this episode they are listed as: - Giessbach Hotel, Brienz, Kanton Bern, Switzerland - for the lakeside Austrian hotel. - Swiss Air Force Base, 3800 Matten bei Interlaken (now Interlaken Airport), Switzerland - for the baseball game. - former British Aerospace factory, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, UK - for the street scenes. - Grimsel Pass, Switzerland - for the road leading up to, and the location for the fictitious Eagle's Nest.
@chrisbolliger5717
@chrisbolliger5717 Год назад
Fictitious Eagles Nest? Are you saying it didn't exist or that they made a replica of it?
@davemac1197
@davemac1197 Год назад
@@chrisbolliger5717 - it's the word used on IMDb. I think it means the production constructed a replica, because the real building, the only Nazi structure at Berchtesgaden saved from demolition, does still exist but was converted into a café after the war. Someone mentioned that in the livestream comments.

Yes the Eagles Nest is still there, today it is a museum so the world does not forget about the horrors of the Nazi's, and yes they did in fact allow the filming of the Eagles Nest scenes in the actual buildings, for authenticity. actually the real Sergeant Grant passed away in 2012, although, i do not know what his quality of life was. I fought in Desert Storm, and from time to time, some have called me a hero, I AM NOT, i feel that those of us who survive the wars in which we fight are not hero's, the real hero's are the men and women that are brought home to be buried, those are the ones who truly gave their last full measure of devotion, and deserve to be remembered as hero's!

Thank you for watching this series. I've seen it multiple times, and it's impossible not to get emotional when watching it. My grandfather was in France in '44 and '45. He landed in Normandy four days after D-Day. He never talked about combat, but he told me some stories. One, I remember was him telling me was of them finding a dead German soldier and his group searched the body. He found a photograph in his pocket, showing that soldier and his wife. He put it back in the dead soldier's pocket, but always remembered the photo. After VE day, they were suspecting that they might be sent to the Pacific, but luckily, they didn't. He lived a long life, into his late 80's, had 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and got to see some of his great grandchildren. It's amazing what one life can accomplish. God Bless all those who served.

Ella Richard "Dick" Winters lived a long life after the war until 2011 at the age of 92. I don't know if some of his men are still living today. Back in 2002, during Primetime Emmys, Band of Brothers won Best Miniseries. Both Hanks and Spielberg had Winters accept the award and made acceptance speech. Prior to his speech, audience (actors & actresses) gave him and his surviving members of Easy Company standing ovation as they were sitting in nearby hotel watching on, with them and others of greatest generation defeated madman and saved the world

The Kehlsteinhaus is real and you can visit it today. It is not officially called the Eagle's Nest, which was the nick name given to it by US soldiers. The elevator is huge and it is lined with brass (it is NOT gold plated). The power that moves the elevator is provided by a repurposed U-boat diesel engine. If you ask nicely you can see it, which I did. (The diesel engine that is, the Kehlsteinhaus is a tourist attraction)
