You never lived to see What you gave to me One shining dream of hope and love Life and liberty With a host of brave unknown soldiers For your company, you will live forever Here in our memory In fields of sacrifice Heroes paid the price Young men who died for old men's wars Gone to paradise We are all one great band of brothers And one day you'll see we can live together When all the world is free I wish you'd lived to see All you gave to me Your shining dream of hope and love Life and liberty
My Great Uncle- John Lucic Sr, was a member of the second wave that entered the beaches of Normandy after the first wave was pretty much wiped out. He went on to serve as a warden for a Allied- German Prison Camp, he ensured all the Germans were treated fairly, with proper nutrition and medical needs met. He especially befriended a young German soldier who was 16 or 17 at the time. After the war, they kept in contact, and in the 1970s they met each other again on those shores, this time in peace, as allies and as life long friends.
Thankyou im glad you like it,unfortunately I am not the one singing it. It is sung by a band called the soldiers and the three men are serving soldiers some of their songs like this one are really emotional but brilliant
I hope this does not happen again, we seem not to learn from our past. The threat of war is hanging in a balance with Syria and Russia I am concerned right now.
Gerard Talbot war will never end. Look throughout history, mankind will never stop hating and killing. Barbarism is Human Nature. Every day someone around the world will die violently, any faith in Humanity as a whole is misplaced. These violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph burn like fire and powder.
I don't get it----WHO is singing this and what about the orchestra???? Where is a recording of this available? Please excuse me if you don't know, but it's not sung by a "band" -- it's a soloist --= one man---whom???? Dying to know...bad choice of words. I'll check back and hope you have posted detailed info. Thanks for your patiene.
I'm watching this 4 years later and oof I read this. Band of Brothers is a show which uses Requiem for a Soldier as their theme, with an amazing orchestral arrangement of it.
Yeah I'm with Michael, big oof on your part. The band name is in the description and also in the uploaders comment. There are quite few comments so you can find it easily. Also I can't belive you are here and don't know about Band of Brothers, one of the best WW2 miniseries ever made. You should watch it. I wish you would look beyond the tip of your nose before posting something like "whom" and "I'll check back and hope you have posted detailed info" - If you can't read or do a simple Google search then it doesn't matter the amount of info he posts.
