The polyrhythms are one of the things I like about Polyphia- it's like a jazz band where everything chaotic comes together on the downbeat, unless they surprise us with a rest on 1 and come in on the upbeat (which they do a lot). That's definitely a breakbeat kind of thing. I think what I love about Steve Vai's part is that he's known as a "shredder" (I mean, he's OG). But instead of trying to out-shred Polyphia with notes, he does this crazy-hard double/triple bending flow section that's just insane, once again proving he's not afraid to innovate. Never heard anything like that before.

9:08 "That's a neat effect" I actually watched a recorded video call between Polyphia and Steve Vai. Vai actually didn't know there would be a music video until after he already recorded his tracks. When he found out, his reaction was something like "Oh crap!" because he recorded multiple overlapping tracks. (In other words, to play it live, there would have to be multiple Steve Vais on stage.) So, some of the perceived "effects" are actually just more Steve Vai :)

Soo cool… they nailed it with this song… Showcasing all of their talents. The main melody going on behind all the technical stuff is so lush. Just beautiful. And they tastefully weave it in and out throughout the song. (The melody the brass player does at the end)… and yeah. In the middle of Vai’s solo when they drop drop the bass and start jamming. That few phrases is Polyphia’s signature sound. I love it… I hope they keep it going and never compromise their sound for anything. The video is beautifully planned as well. The entire point of the throne is it signifies the guitarist who is leading that section. Tim first with his hip-hop influenced sound. Then Scott and the metal-ish vibes arrive. Then lastly Steve and there's a bluesy tone that enters and Steve does his Magic. It's the exact same chord progression in each sectio, including the intro and the trumpet outro. But in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th each Lead guitarist gives their interpretation. It's both beautifully simple and amazingly intricate at the same time. Variations on a theme like a classical composition but with a simple pop chord progression that draws us all in. Possibly perfect 🤌

First of all - awesome reaction. I love the passion paired with the knowledge. I read through the comments and didn't see this but apologize if this is repeated info. Two things you might find interesting: 1) Polyphia in many ways is a 5-piece band, with production elements playing the 5th role. It's something I love about listening to them. 0:51 is a great example. Adds a really interesting element if you try to listen to the role of that "5th" member. 2) Secondly, I've always loved what they do with visual storytelling. A few people pointed out the role of the throne, but it's also worth noting we transcend this building over time. Tim starts as arguably the most recognizable member in the basement. Once Scott starts we've ascended into a windowed space. Finally, for Steve (with Clay in the center this time), we have reached the "pinnacle"/ the roof. Just a really cool touch. Again, great reaction! Loved it :)

The trumpet player is the leader of the band BrassTracks. That lump on hos horn is some sort of midi interface I think. If you want some real insight on how this song happened, check out this long chat between Polyphia and Vai. Vai actually asks how they compose and they explain in detail. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MKCsEDWl0ys.html
