Bandelier National Monument is located in northern New Mexico, just west of Los Alamos in the Jemez mountains. Ancestral Pueblo people lived in this area and built extensive cities and cliff dwellings starting a thousand years ago.
The Main Loop Hike takes you from the Visitor's Center out to the ruins, up to cliff dwellings, and out through the forest to a large cave ruin high on the cliff side, known as Alcove House. Tours led by Rangers are usually available however currently, during Covid restrictions, no tours are available. All hikes are done as self-guided.
On our visit we were greeted by a herd of mule deer near the visitor center and more deer out in the forest on the 2.5 mile loop hike.
Dogs are NOT allowed to hike any of the trails in this park and are restricted to the campground or the small picnic area across from the Visitor Center.
Videos in this series:
1. Main Loop HIke
2. Juniper Family Campground - Review
3. Buck in our campsite and one more hike!

Lol 2 hours from burque....we just use espanola or santa fe as a landmark to bandalier i can see why u would use Albuquerque that is the only city people know about in New Mexico..the deer are all common and tame its unusual to not see them

Yes, most people from out of state can find Albuquerque on a map, so it is the best reference point for locations, plus we live near there. Thanks for watching.
