Similarly to Pegasus, Bandit Keith's fate in the Original Manga was a lot more gruesome than how it was written in the anime... Playlist - • Yu-Gi-Oh Did you Know?... #Short
Fun fact: Bandit Keith was resurrected by yako temna in YUGIOH R manga and owned one of the wicked god but his current fate in that manga is unknown( whether he is dead or alive).
So we are going to ignore the fact that Pegasus has a trap door around his chair that drops you straight to the ocean which may or may not kill you and can only be activated by pressing a button that is on the floor
The manga was so dark and had way more death than you'd expect for the origins of a 'childrens' card game. Hell, in the first few books alone Yugi makes a guy so delusional he thinks leaves are money and is wasting away outside the school, he turns a slimy tv producers face into an actual pixel mosaic filter, and makes an escaped convict holding a restaurant and his friends hostage LIGHT HIMSELF ON FIRE AND WALKS AWAY AS HE'S SCREAMING AND BURNING ALIVE.
Yami in Season 0 was legit anime Jigsaw. And I really liked that about him. He stays true to his name, the darkness within him shows no mercy. He's no hero that abides to others morals, all he cares is to execute judgment as he sees fit. In comparison Atem is all about the power of friendship. The closest we see him go for a penalty is when he "Mind Crushed" Kaiba, PaniK and that one pervert after they lost to him. And the only times he went "evil" was when he tried to attack Kaiba, who threatened suicide should he lose, when he activated The Seal of Orichalcos, truly letting the darkness within him free and when he massacred Weevil in a rage of fury shortly afterwards.
What I like is that Manga-Ushio still went a similar road as in the anime. I wonder if the penalty game was temporary, because how does one get employed anywhere if one thinks leaves are money?
And absolutely disgusting how both the original 1998 Yugioh and Duel Monsters anime butchered Takahashi's story and characters with its changes. At least the 1998 anime actually did what the title said and Yugioh'd (Game King; playing different games), plus kept the dark tone of the manga. It actually has more value than Duel Monsters and its spinoffs.
4kids be like: Guy 1: Yo this guy's holding a gun Guy 2: we can't have that, quick to the One piece roo- Guy 3: wait, see in the manga his hand became a gun Guy 2: ... GENIUS!!!
I saw the anime version and would be shocked to find out a decade or so ago through the manga about this. It was kind of jarring to see this contrast but it does feel fitting given his 'work'.
I always liked the anime version more. The fact that Pegasus never kills Keith is just another insult and shows how little of a threat he considers him to be.
When you put the fate of Keith in the manga, next to what happens to Keith in the same scene in the “dubbed“ version, then it becomes ironically appropriate for him to just be pointing menacingly at Pegasus.
His return in pre-battle city was actually to emulate the manga storyline for Dungeon Dice Monsters which led to the chain necklace being used as the new puzzle getup.
Yes, while, Keith does return, R's story was made by Akira Itou using the scrapped plot Takahashi came up with. It doesn't "need" to be mentioned since Takahashi didn't make it himself. Aside from the base premise of using Pegasus death to get revenge by Takahashi, we do not know how much was Itou's idea vs Takahashi's idea. The story itself was rather lacking, especially since Takahashi improved the story each arc (or good in general) and Takahashi's idea was suppose to be after Battle City.
Pretty sure Bandit Keith became a pawn of Marik, not Yami Marik as Yami Marik didn't come out until near the end of season 2. Other than that, pretty accurate video, though I think the trap door was darker, because he literally sent Keith to die of drowning and exhaustion. Compared to just magically making him shoot himself in the head, being rather over quickly.
Thank you for posting this on my birthday Dylan, & i have learned a bunch of favts from your shorts videos. I never knew this info about Bandit Keith in the manga until now that's very freaky, as for my favorite version of him I liked it when Pegasus made him drop through the trap door.
Another did you know: Yugi’s Broken Millenium Puzzle and Building Fire in the Anime and Manga: Anime Version: • Keith destroyed the Millenium Puzzle and causes a fire during a Duel with Yugi. Manga Version: • Otogi’s Father destroyed the Millenium Puzzle and causes a fire during a Dungeon Dice Monsters Duel with Yugi.

He appears in the Valley of lost sould along with Arkana who also doed in the manga. Because of this I assumed he died, most likely of overdose or drinkin or Russian Roulette like games do to his overwhelming depression.
Pandora was never stated to be dead in the manga. Malik stated that when he wakes up, he will have suicidal impulses and kill himself. Obviously, Battle City ends the next day, and Pandora got cut badly by the saw that he was leaking blood. So either he dies from blood loss, dies by suicide, or stays asleep long enough for Malik to undo what he did after losing to Yami Yugi (which he did state) so they'll regain consciousness soon. In Pandora's case, his chances of being alive are low due to the aforementioned reasons and the main fact that the manga isn't a kiddy series. Once again, Pandora's fate is unknown.
It like the same situations with Pegasus in both version they die in the manga & live in anime(idk if Keith did die in later of the anime?) But the difference here is Pegasus have important role in both version while Keith is unfortunately have his fate not in his favor in the manga he die by his own hand(Hahaha get it) by Pegasus & the anime make him mind control by Marik & caught the building on fire this is his final appearance & never come back(the ghost one doesn’t count)

Both have their merits, but I really loved the macabre atmosphere and frequent deaths in the manga. Reading it while everyone I knew had only seen the 4kids anime felt like I knew some kind of dark, esoteric secret 😎
Doesn't work, Pegasus has to be dead for R to take place. If they adapt the actual manga and leave it out, then yeah, missed opportunity. But it has no place in the highly modified anime-continuity.
Jared, do the research. Your comment makes no sense considering the fact that R came out after the manga finished in 2004. It wasn't even out when the Doma arc finished. How are you going to adapt something that does not exist? Not only that, R was made by Itou using Takahashi's scrapped/rejected plot as a base premise (plus it spoils the Final arc a bit if you read it first because it takes things from the Final arc that are supoose to be seen for the 1st time there). This is why R is considered Itou's story (he is credited story & art) and most likely wouldn't get an anime adaptation within Takahashi's story.
What is funny is that the videogames(Or at least Sacred Cards and Reshef of Destruction) take place in a pseudo-universe where both manga and anime-events canonically took place. And in that one, brainwashed Keith actually became a higher ranking member in the Rare hunters and he actually somehow took over as their new leader after Yami Marik's defeat. I like that version of him most, just because of how strange it actually is.
Yugioh R version of Bandit Keith is the best one for me, where he gets revived by Yakou Tenma, was thirsty for revenge and wielded an Wicked God card, he was basically the OG Dark Signer
It is better. It is the true story and vision of Yugioh by creator Kazuki Takahashi that started in 1996. Yugiou means Game King. Meaning Yami Yugi, the Game King, playing many different games to defeat his enemies. Not Card Game King. Without the manga, there is no anime, card game, video game, etc. The original 1998 anime (adapting chapt 1 to 59) and Duel Monsters anime (chapter 60 to 343) butchered his story in many ways. There are literally 3 different canons of the original series because the anime staff altered the story and characters. The Kazuki Takahashi manga canon: Yugioh (chapter 1 to 343) > Transcend Game > The Dark Side of Dimensions Toei canon: Original 1998 Yugioh anime > 1999 Yugioh movie Gallop/Konami canon: Duel Monsters > GX > 5D's
Dylan, you already said in your other video “Things you missed in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s” that Hunter Pace had once lost to Bandit Keith at some time in his life, so I assumed that in the anime continuity he survive and lived another day.
It's funny when I was younger I always seen this never thought of it when I rematch it many years later i noticed dude was pointing his hand shaped gun I was like what? 😂😂
I have a genuine question, are there anime is a mangoes out there that are accessible to those to have a disability or a visual impairment, and where if you are visually impaired, you can only read Braille and not read physical print
As terrifying as the manga is...I kinda gotta give it to the anime. Pegasus just pressing a button to get rid of him is more effective. Sure, he COULD use magic, but why bother? Keith ain't worth it.
Unlike the Pegasus situation where I think the anime made the right choice in keeping him alive to be used for story arcs down the road. When it comes to Bandit Keith I prefer the manga killing him off the way it did because…well…holy sh%t is that scary. And plus besides making him a brief pawn of Marin, they never really do anything else with him, so he’s not all that useful to later story arcs in the Anime, unlike Pegasus.
Except they didn't make the right choice because Takahashi was going to place his scrapped plot of R after Battle City and it needed Pegasus to be dead. Ishizu confirmed Pegasus death to Kaiba at the museum by saying "The late Pegasus J Crawford". Roba reiterated in his Duel with Jonouchi that Pegasus was dead months ago. Both dialogues removed from the anime obviously. Takahashi's editor told him not to do it because it was unrelated to the main story (Millennium Items) and Battle City took so long so he went into the final arc. Takahashi gave hints to the arc like during the DK duel with Pegasus and Yami Yugi as Pegasus called Thousand Eyes Sacrifice an Evil God (Jashin). The anime staff simply got lucky. The fact that they kept 2 dead characters alive shows how "light" they turned DM into.
@@jeskerjames3260 Well, everything I stated was from the main story by Takahashi and his interviews. R is Akira Itou's (Takahashi's apprentice) story from start to finish using the base premise of Takahashi's idea, which is why it is a spinoff. It is not a requirement to read. I'm not telling you not to read it. Just saying Takahashi didn't work on it.
I’m just confused why they removed the gun from the dubbed version. All I can seem to understand that the dub was aired in 4Kids in such it might of been removed for censorship laws. Also fun fact: When Pegasus opens the trap door, the sound effect of the gun rattling and hitting the floor was still in the Dubbed version. Bad continuity 🙂
It's honestly baffling how much 4Kids censored the manga. There was so much violence and guns and overall dark stuff in there, but I lowkey wish they would show them in the anime too. Also, I feel like they should've changed a few of the actors in the dub as well. Maybe then Yu Gi Oh would be considered a solid piece of animation, not just a meme.
You should have read it years ago when it was announced that The Dark Side of Dimensions was a manga sequel followed by Takahashi creating Transcend Game, a part 2 manga prequel to the movie. But hey, better late than never.
@@rob19ny heck yeah fam I just recently really got back into Yugioh to the point where I can now pendulum summon lol Link summons are next in my list I actually did just watch DSOD recently that movie was great
No lie I was just rewatching the Doma arc and saw Bandit Keith as a "lost soul" with PaniK not too far off from him. It made me legit believe he died at one point after being forced to duel against Yugi.
That is a common theory, but not confirmed because the Labyrinth/Paradox brothers also show up and they are canonically alive. So Keith may just be figuratively lost.
@@lpfan4491 That's right since I remember seeing them too but they were in GX that took on Jaden and Syrus. It just got me thinking on that mindset since I remembered Bandit Keith did died in the manga like with Pegasus.
