I remember hearing somewhere that Paul doesn't like all the commercialism Gene has done with KISS, nor the politics because Paul feels it has taken away some of the fan base and made them look like all they cared about was money. I do find it interesting that Paul has to go with calling Ace an anti Semite. Perhaps that is true but my feeling has always been why trash someone when they are out of your life, what good does it do?
Maybe that's true. I remember my band and I had always used to get stoned and drunk. My guitarist counterpart used to play the wrong chords and I would get irritated. But, a few more shots or a bowl and I would be like, "Ehhh. Maybe it could work." Or my buddies songs were so easy, that i thought it was TOO easy for our style, but humored him anyway. I think maybe we all just got tired of eachothers' egos and dealing with getting paid jack-shit for all the work we'd put into making appearances and shows. But, it had it's fun times---but, no music lately.
He was a diva, plain and simple. I can name the day and place where GNR and Axl started going downhill. August 8, 1992 in Montreal. What happened? While GNR was on their joint tour with Metallica, James Hetfield suffered second and third-degree burns after a pyrotechnic accident, and Metallica had to cancel the rest of their performance that night. GNR went on stage 30 minutes later. Because of the short set-up time, the sound coming out wasn't to Axl's liking, so he just left the stage after playing a few songs. Then, all hell broke loose in the streets of Montreal.

They were called the "Toxic Twins" due to their drug use. They had a falling out for awhile and Joe left the band. I think Brad and Joey left too. I don't remember for sure. Then Steven and Joe went to rehab and reunited before they recorded "Permanent Vacation". I have a biography called "The Rise And Fall And Rise Of Aerosmith." I had no clue that they still had problems with each other. That sucks
they were also on opposite sides of the spectrum politically. joey was a progressive and johnny was a reagan loving conservative. johnny hated that joey was singing songs insulting his favorite president.
Whatever problems Axl and Slash had off stage didn't stop their awesomeness together on stage , they were and still are great together. Just happy they are back on tour together, it's great .
Zero8880. Yes, you are right. I agree. They fight more like brothers and sisters fight or "hate" each other. Real, true HATE is completely different. They would never stay together for as long as they do if they REALLY HATED each other.
The Ramones are another example (of many!) - Joey and Johnny Ramone refused to speak to each other from the mid-80s right through to their breakup in 1996.
Also, while it seems evident that Tyler was definitely in it "for the fame and women" more than his band mates, I don't think it is fair of them to characterize him as not being in it " for the music". Not only has he been Aerosmith's front man and lead vocalist for its entire history, he has been the lead, or co-composer for the overwhelming majority of the bands songs, and plays multiple instruments( sometimes as many as a dozen) on each album( unlike his band mates , who may play one or two). All of this means that he has spent a huge amount of effort making the band's music, and is probably as, if not more, responsible for its success as anyone else. I think part of what they claim comes from the way Tyler seems to get the job done. He seems to be like the musical equivalent of the person from college that would get an assignment on Friday, that was due on Monday, spend all of Friday night and all of Saturday partying, be passed out for most of Sunday, then spend just a few hours cranking out a paper Sunday night , but still ends up getting and A or B on the assignment. This tends to piss off people around them that work much harder than they do.
I once heard Rod Stewart say that he played in the same band with Jeff Beck for two years and never looked him the eye; not once. Sam and Dave (super popular in the '60s) had separate dressing rooms and refused to talk to each other for years. But the show went on. Heart had a lot of band member tension in their early years. One guy, right in the middle of a performance, destroyed his guitar and stormed off stage, never to be seen with the group again.
Their performances suffered as well. Never saw THAT Van Halen lineup, but I DID via. the Hagar years & that show was horrid! So...apparently, Eddie is a dick...if history repeats itself as such🤔 I met a guitarist that tried the "I'm a musician, not your friend" crap with me...let's get REAL here...we're NOT f'kin Van Halen 😒 I walked right outta that place. The guy's presently barely hanging onto his drunk-ass lifestyle & I've been working all year...& most of last year since...because of RESPECT. Gotta have some degree of respect. IF NOT...there's no reason otherwise.
The Van Halen part was VERY one sided. There are two sides to every story, and the Van Halen brothers have managed to bad mouth everybody they ever worked with. Maybe a long hard look in the mirror is in order...
Roth and Hagar HATE each other, but if you read their books their stories about the VH brothers and how they act and operate are identical. Funny that.

When it came time to announce the members of the band, instead of introducing Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, Sting said, " you know him, and you know him." Not long after that Sting launched his solo career.
Joe Perry was actually quite fair with Steven Tyler in Perry's memoir. He gave Steven a lot of credit for all the hard work he put in on one of their final albums. Joe also told a lot of stories at his own expense, admitting to bad things he himself had done.
Nothing about the Eagles, with the sheer animosity between Glenn Frey and Don Felder, or Fleetwood Mac, with the relationship spats between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks turning the band into rock's greatest soap opera?

I find it harder and harder to love EVH as a person even though I love his playing and VH as a whole. He has the inability to be the bigger person and holds grudges over meaningless things for way too long
Tom and Mark dont hate each other theyre just two very different people who sometimes dont get along. If you look at their history then youll find that the only time that they really get along was in 2004 when they were on drugs and then in 2009 they got back together and got along great. The reason that Tom left in 2015 was because he wanted to focus on his program called To The Stars. It was a little harsh in 2004 but when tom left a couple years ago it was just a few words like " Guys I'm just gonna go work on To The Stars and AVA (his side project) and just take a break for a while" thats all. Plus he just has a hrd time commiting.
You're quite wrong. There have been a few legendary bands that did not have huge in-fights and hated each other. Alice Cooper for one always had a fairly homogenes lineup. The same can be said for Judas Priest. Halford had a bit of a hissyfit in the early 90's, but that was mainly due to the fact that he needed to try other things. They never hated each other and really fought.
Having been in touring bands myself, I can echo this. We fought like brothers here and there! You're in very close quarters nearly 24 hours a day. So, any tensions can really escalate!
The Toxic Twins may quarrel, but they still manage to bang it out. See that Boston Strong version of "Dream On". They "Come Together" when it's time.:)
Tim Johnson wrong.....he got thrown out. After an appalling gig we’re every one but roger was a bit too loose, roger flushed Keith’s drugs down the loo. Keith went mad & roger was fired for using his fists to settle an argument.
Ritchie Blackmore just... doesn't do well with most singers. He also didn't get on well with Graham Bonnet, and Joe Lynn Turner's relationship with him was all right but Blackmore keeps reforming Rainbow without him and it kind of pisses him off a little bit.
jecos jecos Yes, and Blackmore's feuds with the band nearly destroyed them; once he was gone for good, they have been in harmony, with only one change, when Lord was ready to retire.
They are the only band I know of who had a tour bus with separate doors on the side for each member so they wouldn't even have to pass in the hallway. At least that is what I have heard.
Being so hateful is not going to help. Axl is a really nice guy and always has been except for few incidents in his early life. Over the years, he maintained good relationship with whomever he worked with. Not surprising since his old bandmates reunited with him.

Story: in 1994 I met Ace Frehley and no human being has ever been as rude to me as he was. He was walking by me at an award show, and I simply said “hello Ace” and he spun around and looked at me (in front of people) and said “Let me guess - I’m the reason you started playing guitar???” I walked away feeling humiliated. John Densmore hated Jim Morrison with a vengeance for his incessant drinking before, during and after a show. Hardly surprising, as Morrison, the drunk would turn the performances into a hideous debacle. Miami 1969 was the worst example.

I had been molested by my stepfather and one of those "Big brothers" from that association when I was a kid. But I can say Jackson didn't sexually molest kids. It wasn't about sex, and wasn't related to it. He has spoken about what it was about, and his downfall, was not being able to understand why people didn't get it, and thought he was weird. He could have had a better sense of people, and not think he could do anything without scrutiny or backlash. You can't give that kind of attention to kids and then suddenly lose interest after. Corey Feldman explained that best. But people will go on believing he was a pedophile to the day they die.

I think it comes with the fact Axl has made racist comments a few times and Slash is partly African-American. I’ve heard a lot of Eddie Van Halen interviews from the past especially after David Lee Roth would leave. He did not hold back at all and said that he and Alex always thought from the moment they met David Lee Roth but he was a douche bag in love with the sound of his own voice. That the Cartoon character like idiot that we see now was that way from the beginning so naturally the interviewer asked why when you met him did you think this but still eventually let him join your band is the singer? EVH Explained explained that David’s rich doctor father gave him access to so much Bank that it was hard to say no. He and Alex had very limited financial resources while David Lee Roth had tremendous access. Just by letting him join the band they already had all the sound equipment that they would need because the bastard already owned it again thanks to his rich doctor dad.
Van Halen would have never had the same sound if Michael Anthony hadn’t been on backing vocals. It’s the first thing that I noticed when he’s playing with Sammy.
Everyone here has made really great points. I think the problem or word we are disagreeing about is the word HATE. Real HATE. I can count the people I HATE on 1 hand and have fingers left over. Real HATE. NO REASON or BRIBE or AMOUNT OF MONEY could make me choose to deal with those few people in any way, shape or form. These band guys & gals do not HATE each other and still work, play, see, talk and deal with each other for days or weeks or even hours at a time. It would be impossible for me to be civil or creative with my ex whom I HATE. I could easily kill him, but no way make music with him for even millions or trillions of dollars. I think it's the meaning of the word HATE we are disagreeing about. Yeah, these guys have tons of issues with each other, but HATE?? NO. NOT BUYING THAT STORY. Just my thoughts, dudes.

Good point. Notice that Chris calls his new band the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. The band that does not have his own brother is a brotherhood. I wonder how he pays the members of his "brotherhood"? Rich left the Crowes when Chris demanded he give up his equal share in the band and wanted to make drummer Steve Gorman a salaried employee as opposed to full band member. Odd how many hippy types really love money and hate to share it.
There were/are so MANY example of bandmates at odds with each other, the video touches just on a small a part of rock history. Other huge ones- Mick and Keith (they haven't visited each other's backstage rooms in decades), The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Mike Love vs. Brian Wilson, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Elvis Costello vs. Bruce Thomas (Attraction's bassist), The Band (Robbie Robertson vs. Levon Helm), Fleetwood Mac, The Clash (Mick Jones vs. Joe Strummer), Glenn Frey vs Don Felder, Cheap Trick (Bun E. Carlos), The Police, Husker Du, David Bryne vs The Talking Heads, etc. It is almost a prerequisite to not get along when forming a rock band.
Sting and Stewart Copeland are also two band members who couldn't each other. They so disliked each other that story has it they recorded their parts for "Synchronicity" in separate buildings
None of them hated each other. Johnny Marr and Morrissey were incredibly close during their career and I’m sure that Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce have never had any animosity with any of the others apart from the money issue. They just won’t get back together because they think it would spoil their legacy.
They didn't hate each other at all. The course trial took place many years after the band was over. Morrissey and Johnny say they still love and respect each other although they're not as close anymore
John Cale and Lou Reed of The Velvet Underground. They had musical issues about how the band should further progress after the albums TVU&N and WL/WH. Reed wanted to become more comercial, whereas Cale wanted to go further in exploiting experimental sounds. So Reed decided to kick Cale out of the band, but didn´t have the guts to tell Cale himself that he was out of The Velvets, so he had guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Moe Tucker do the job. Also for years they would have lawsuits about copyright issues, and although it was Reed who had written the songs, it was Cale who mainly created their sonic sound on TVU&N and WL/WH but never was credited properly for that. For almost a decade Cale and Reed wouldn´t talk to each other, until their mentor Andy Warhol died in the late 80´s. Both of them got together again to do a couple of gigs in NY and recorded the LP Songs For Drella, a homage to Warhol. In 1993 they reformed The Velvets with the original lineup to do a european and us tour and eventually record a new album with new material. Unfortunatly this never happend, due to Reed´s ego. While touring europe Reed expected the band also to play his solo stuff, so the others would become his backup band. Cale wouldn´t stand for this bullshit and told Reed to f*** off. So that was the end of The Velvets reunion.
The Police....One of their video shoots had to be rethought out, with darker lighting, after Sting and Stewart Copeland gave each other black eyes while waiting to start shooting.

Im surprised you didn't mention any of The Beatles. They got tired of being around each other towards the end of their career. Even during the White Album, Ringo was fed up with how the album was being written and he temporarily left the band. Its also called the Tension Album.
