Saved the best for last! The king of rht eh Joints and the nemesis for many woodworkers.Yes it can be done here is how to make "Through Dovetails and Pins" on a Bandsaw. Hope you have enjoyed this series and continue to join in what we do.
This is a series that has been requested many times so here it is. I have filmed 14 different joints that can be done on a Bandsaw. They range from the very basic to quite complex. The series has been broken it into 9 parts for ease of people that are searching for a specific joint. The entire video will soon be available from our Vimeo channel for Rent or Purchased download. Also love to watch your video's with the morning coffee. I only started woodworking a few months ago and have only made a mallet and the units to convert my shed into a workshop :). You video's have taught me a great deal. It's just the putting it into practice and making it look as simple as you do that's my problem. :)

Love the last comment "I didn't run away and do a different set". Was that because of my comment in a previous vid where I thought the shadow was a gap :)

YES!!! Found this with morning coffee(Sunday, no work, no hurry.) Great series(as always Steve.) One MAJOR HOW TO QUESTION, I'm sure most of us need answering; how to convince our wives we need to buy a ban saw(in my case a bigger ban saw, lol.) Been hot like Australia here in Normandy lately...cheers richard

Love your work Steve I've got the 14 12 bandsaw no brake and every time I turn it off to change a setting I wished I had one cheers

Hi Trevor, Yes I had the 14/12 and loved it but the brake is a real plus. Especially as I have little fingers in the shed a lot of the time. Cheers Steve

Great series, I’m going to try my first dovetail with your video. Also might I say I have a king Canada 17” band saw, they tried to get me to go for the laguna model your using. I saved a couple bucks with the king but I really like the sound of yours running, and mine tends to jump time to time. I mean off the floor while saw jumps. It’s 400lbs and I don’t wear steel toes in my shop only at job sites. Just saying I like your saw

WOOOW Alexander, sounds like a runaway. Check the welds on the saw blade for lumps or the drive belt at the motor for unevenness or any bumps in the wheel rubbers. Hope you get the dovetails out alright with it jumping. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers Steve

Excellent series Steve, thank you. Had a pretty serious mishap with a bandsaw about twenty years ago which has left me sh*t scared of mine ever since- only use it when I really have to!

Yeah, things like that can make you very weary. Mine is the Spindle Moulder. Hope you still enjoy using other stuff though. Bring on the Hand Tools! Cheers Steve

Great series, enjoyed it all. Just one question: Were all these joints done with a hardbacked, rather than a flex back blade?

All joints were cut with same blade 10mm x 6tpi x 115" Bandsaw blade plain steel blade. Cheers Steve

Not a problem Tom Laguna 14 BX and yes no hesitation in recommending it. My favorite feature on it is the micro switch foot brake. Cheers Steve

It's not difficult to hold the piece against the fence with your hand. The weatherboard just complicates needlessly.

Hi Steve, well don't use one if it get in the way...but sometimes the timber can wander and that's when it's good to have the feather boards in place. Appreciate your comment. Cheers Steve
