I discovered this channel by complete accident. This channel is fantastic for someone such as myself who has a great interest in Bench Joinery and look forward to every upload! You can curtainly tell he knows his stuff, the way he explains it so simply for anybody to understand. Thanks! :)
Nick is the shop teacher I wish I had in junior high school and high school, providing his vast wealth of knowledge while never being condescending. Thank you to Nick, Travis, and Bella for making these videos, and I look forward to learning more from you in the coming year.
Good lord you two make absolute top notch videos! Truly talented teachers, woodworkers, craftsmen, and content creators. In a class with Norm Abram, few, very few, can match what yall do. 👍🏻
My dad was a wood and metalshop teacher for 38 years so growing up I used to go over to his classes whenever we had off(he taught in a different district so we'd usually have different days off for holidays and whatnot). I'm pushing 30 myself in a few years so I can't describe how nice it is to feel like I'm right back in his classes learning about tools or whatever they were doing that day. Been close to 20 years now and it feels like yesterday. So, thank you.
I am not a woodworker or craftsman, this just popped onto my radar one day; and while I cannot see myself becoming a carpenter or woodworker, your entire persona and way of explaining makes these videos educational and fun. I applaud you, Sir. Keep up the great work and great content.
The author does like to from scratch, ru-vid.comUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
Im a learned carpenter but discovering this channel always opens my eyes to new ideas and your Presentation is just awesome. Also i love you providing imperial and metric units. Best greetings from Germany
I don't know why youtube suddenly decide to bless me with this channel, but i'm so glad i found this! Those initial instructions on the bandsaw are invaluable to me! I'm a complete novice, and had trouble calibrating the bandsaw to get it to saw straight! You just made my day! Also, the little plank with the ridge to push the last piece of wood through the saw is practical genius! Continue with the amazing instructional videos, you're an amazing instructor!
I've read that when dogs put their paw on you like that, it's a bonding behavior. It's them touching you with their sensitive pads so they feel a connection; like holding hands. Anecdotally, what I've seen leads me to believe this is true. I think the dog in the video loves and trusts this man.
Since I found this woodworking channel, I can’t stop watching everything that comes out, sometimes even three or four times in a row. Learn a lot and keep more interesting discoveries here.
Please show a detailed video about your entire workshop and how you set it up and planned it and why it is the way it is - I think your workshop is fantastic from a first impression. Thank you.
Im a 40 year carpenter with all my fingers and toes and you would be a blast to be neighbors with... you could write a book of lies, tall tales, and erronious missions helpers got sent on. Great content and excellent guiding on defeating the devil in the details! Salute!
Mr. Engler, I want to say that I really appreciate you. The way you present very educational information and share your expertise is amazing. You are an inspiration to craftmen. From the bottom of my heart thank you.
Thank you so much for all your videos but specially this one. I found it at the perfect time and I really dig your teaching style and how knowledgeable you are
Love the professional production quality, the clear explanation and the fact that measurements are all given in both the archaic imperial and the more understandable metric system. Thank you.
I am very new to your channel and only found it because of a RU-vid suggestion to watch and I absolutely love how you teach! I haven't done any wood working since high school woodshop about 30 years ago and the way you teach has really gotten me excited to pick up wood working once I can get a shop and tools. So in the mean time, I will be going over your older content to study and learn. I simply wanted to thank you for lighting this spark and thank you for breaking down the 'How to' of wood working for a complete novice like me!!
I've been watching woodworking videos for like 10 years but had never seen this channel until very recently. Buddy just drops in and blows me away with these incredibly high quality, entertaining and informative videos!
As many woodworkers are turning to other videos, I find it refreshing to find you making this nested boxes. I large slab of oak that I could cut out a 6", 12" long and 6" wide. This project is going on my to do list right away. I'd love to make the glue up for both of my daughters. A while back, I tried to make a jewelry box and us dovetail joinery. I was using walnut and oak. Unfortunately the jig I made did not workout. This would be a great keepsake for both of them.
My wife I’ll Love those boxes, I’ve always watch and rewatch your videos, Im always watching to see you use that sand paper trick with your glue ups Thanks again Got to get back to the reindeer project
I'm glad I've come across this channel because I have an interest in woodworking and the things it can be made into. I hope that one day I'll be able to try some of the things I've seen. So, thank you for explaining things in an easy to understand way and giving different options.
Wholeheartedly agree, although I wish it was its own video. I don't have a band saw yet, so I'm going to have to go digging to find it again when I have something to actually set up!
I understood every word and sentence. Now I’ve got to get the paragraphs to work 😂. You are simply brilliant and I thank you for inviting me round. Compliments of the season to you and Bella. She’s lovely 🌞
I did a band saw box with multiple nesting. It was a much easier design because it wasn't square, but it is really funny to watch people attempt to opens the last core. And yes, I sanded and finished it! I guess we have a similar sense of humor! Great video!
Even though I cannot remember squat, I truly enjoy your very educational videos. Having your shop dog nearby adds to the pleasure of watching. Keep up the good work and enjoy your New Year.
Absolutely wonderful video. I don't donany sort of wodworking myself, but I do use a portable bandsaw mounted on a hinge to cut metal components at my job. I keep blade alignment calibrated with the table measurements for fun.
Those boxes are neat. Your assembly table and ShopSmith as a disk sander did a nice job of helping out on this project. The assembly table is definitely on my list of jigs to build. I also have ShopSmith envy, but probably don't have the space for one.
You can cut them down. There is no better sanding station than a Shopsmith with a belt sander attachment. Put the drill chuck on the belt sander PTO and you can add flutter sheets, drum sander, pneumatic drums, etc. as needed.
I wish I could have learned as your apprentice. Darn gov service careers. 2nd best option has been buying your complete set of books. I read the ones relevant to each project before starting and it has been invaluable. Couldn't recommend them more. Those books and your visit to Mr. McCann's shop are my go tos when I am going to be changing anything in my garage shop layout or just want to learn more about this imperfectable craft. Thank you, Travis, and Bella for the knowledge and entertainment, may your new year be a great one!
Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic. Definitely going to try this for Christmas presents for next year. If I get started now I just might just get some done in time. 😄 It was so great to meet and chat with you at the Shopsmith 75th Anniversary celebration.
Beautiful. Informative. Just awesome. Im a beginner woodworker. Self taught with some help from youtube. I build custom shutters for people along with custom sofa tables. I have a band saw and i really appreciate the detailed instructions. I also have a table saw, compound miter saw, and various sanders. Still need a planer badly along with a bench sander or disk sander. By far the biggest challenge has been finding decent wood. I have to go to 3 different stores depending on how much stock they have just to find decent materials to work with. Most wood nowadays is shapes like wet noodles. But all in all my finished products look pretty damn good. Thanks for the video. Cheers from the mountains of eastern Tennessee.
Thank you so much, I have been wanting to purchase a saw blade, but I don’t know how to use one, I’m new to woodworking and love it, I feel I’m ready to try other ways of cutting wood to creat different things. And your videos have been a huge help for me. I am much more confident using my table saw, and use all your tips and tricks. Thank you again Happy New Year 🎉
I had a piece of curly cherry 1/2” x 81/2” and my local woodcraft store employees a luthier and he re-sawed it to perfection so I ended up with two book matched panels exactly the same thickness for a guitar top. I don’t think I could have gotten that result and this video helps me understand what’s he had to do.m. Thanks for posting
