One more thing to add would be Latency and/or ping - That would be the speed limit each individual car can drive..in terms of gaming and streaming where the packets are small..it ‘doesn’t’ matter how much total bandwidth of bridge can handle..each packet needs to get to their destination fast for reliability.

Simple and efficient . The best channel for getting a general idea about almost everything in networking . Btw sunny , can we say speed means both bandwidth and throughput based on the sentence ? If we say '' DSL download speed is between 10 to 100 Mbps '' , I think we mean (throughput) from 10 mbps to 100 mbps but when when we say its 100 mbps we are talking about bandwidth .
@cosminionutgrosu169
@cosminionutgrosu169 2 года назад
It should be noted that for the same stated bandwidth, the maximum data transfer rate depends on the mode of the operation of the link: half-duplex or full-duplex. For example, for a 100Mbps half duplex link, the maximum data rate is 100Mbps, because at any point in time, a device can be either sender or receiver of data. On the other hand, for a 100Mbps full duplex link, since a device can be both sender and receiver at the same time, the maximum data rate is 200Mbps.

I am still kind of confused. so Bandwidth is the max amount of data that can be used. Throughput is the amount of data that actually used. Then why cellphone companies typically charge people for the bandwidth they use, not Throughput (the actual amount of data used)?

O.K. Mr. Sunny. I will leave a very flattering comment for you because you make all the other videos on this subject look like a bunch of dangblang idiots. You immediately point out the different in the use of the term bandwidth which eliminates a lot of confusion in the beginning. Then you bring up other useful terms as speed and throughput. Now I am ready for your video on modulation during transmission. EXCELLENT WORK!!! thanks

sir, I am not clear. My question for wifi: I have AP (802.11AC). it has dual band (5GHz, 2.4GHz). speed 1300Mbps. please explain bandwidth and speed in wifi. Thanks and best regards.
@sunnyclassroom24
@sunnyclassroom24 4 года назад
great question. The dual-band means your AP can work with all wifi standards (802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac). Your AP can work fine. Speed means how much data can be downloaded per second. Most of the time, the vendor brags about "the speed" because it refers to the maximum speed in a perfect condition.

@@alexjune6414 speed is the bandwidth I think.
@alexjune6414
@alexjune6414 4 года назад
@Aun Maqsood hah thanks. I saw an article and it is sort of the same thing. My understanding is bandwidth is what you're supposed to get and since you're sharing it then people won't get all that bandwidth so you get a slower speed. Hand in hand. But throughput is still a mystery, I gotta re watch this. www.highspeedinternet.com/resources/bandwidth-vs-latency-what-is-the-difference "Bandwidth refers to the maximum capacity of an internet connection, not the actual speed. For example, if you order a 100 Mbps package from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), your bandwidth would be 100 Mbps. That means the most data your connection can download at one time is 100 Mbps. Your actual internet speed, on the other hand, is likely to be less than your bandwidth most of the time because of network congestion and other external factors. If you want to see how fast your internet connection is now, use a speed test." As per the article.
@aunmaqsood3129
@aunmaqsood3129 4 года назад
@@alexjune6414 Yeah definitely. I think companies market the bandwidth when you're buying. For example, we have a 1gbps wifi speed, but my pc only runs at 100mbps (lower sometimes). Also that's a great article, thanks for linking it!
