What an absolutely fantasticly enthusiastic review - I got noticeably and increasingly excited and am now beside myself until Saturday afternoon when my brand new pair arrive - I'd already bagged the B&O H95's for a very good knockdown Black Friday price before I checked out your review bu now I am chomping at the bit to hear them.
I loved this review! Thorough deep dive into describing its sonic capabilities, and I couldn’t agree more! I think they’re truly incredible! I have had the same impressions. A huge step-up from the H9. Some might argue that they couldn’t hear the difference. You might need to spend a couple of hours with these. While you might hear the difference immediately, it’s only after having listened to a wider selection of your favourite songs and having watched a few scenes from your favourite movies and then going back to the headphones you’re upgrading or have upgraded from that you really understand that the H95s do stand out. And by the way, include the storage box and the excellent cables and details like the material used even on the on/off/Blutooth switch, and you’ll see how much effort B&O have put into making these. Thanks for your review, it was interesting to watch!
Great review with the details and presentation. I managed to pick this up on Prime day for an amazing £464. I've listened them for about an hour or 2 now and they have surpassed my expectations. I'm into good audio gear and the H95s deliver the sounds so velvety smooth with out missing the details. The bass is also bottomless and rich. Love them!
The H9i are great headphones - no need to upgrade...however don't try the H95 unless you are ready to make a purchase, as I think you will fall in love with the sound when you hear them!
@@soundsheavenly I’m thinking of getting them now , after your introduction, also I went to apple to try AirPods Max last Sunday , and they can’t even beat BeoPlay H9i personally, I’m guessing that H95 gonna rock the hell of my head.
I bought these thanks to your review - and I'm completely blown away by the quality of these. They bring a level of detail and sharpness to the music that I've never experienced before. It's been a long time since I've simply closed my eyes and really listened to tracks that I've known for 30 years and discover new details. The breathing of the singer, the subtlest of ghost notes from the drummer - I could even hear the faint sound of the metronome in one of my favorite piano tracks that I've never been able to identify before. Fantastic headset..!
Steve, incredible review my friend. Your presentation, poise, voice, together, are the best I’ve EVER experienced on RU-vid. I’ve just subscribed because of this first review for me. Silky job 👍👍👍
Many thanks, you are very kind! I really enjoy sharing my love of B&O and I’m pleased you like my videos. Thanks for subscribing, more videos to follow very soon!
I don't really listen to earbuds so the H95 are still my favourite high-end headphones. I will keep on reviewing B&O's over ear headphones in future videos
Thank you for a your comprehensive and informative review Steve A review that is to the point with out theatrics or frivolous silly uninformed claims as facts. I particularly appreciate when you took the time to share your personal sound experience in all different genres with the H95 to provide a better perspective of what to expect from H95 in different genres to truly appreciate their unique sound characteristics and clarity in which they are renowned for. Keep up the great work. Subbed
Thank you for this excellent review. I purchased the AirPods Max and ultimately ended up returning them. I have order the H95 direct from B&O and I'm excited to get them.
@@DavWoe I think that the H95's are just slightly better. They offer more fine tuned controlling of the sound and are incredibly comfortable to wear. I highly recommend them.
Hi Steve, greeting from London. Amazing video and great review. Was concerned as it is a “paid review” however having watched the whole thing and read lots of the comment. It’s so nice of you replying everyone and explain everything. I was struggling upgrading my beats years ago and can’t decide between so many choices but you have helped me made my mind. Will head to Harrods and get my pair tomorrow! Only problem is now I find really hard to choose between the black and mist colour. They are both stunning. Not a fan of the gold version. Any suggestions? Subscribed! KY
Thanks, please rest assured that whilst B&O sent me the headphones to review at no cost, I wasn't paid for the review and the views are my own. I think you will find a clear improvement over Beats, but please try them for yourself and I think you will be impressed. Please say Hi to Marlon and the guys at B&O Harrods from me! I prefer the black version that you saw in the review - as I have darker hair, I think they work better for me. But see what you think in store, they should have both colours there to see (I agree with you that the gold isn't too great!)
Great review! I have been debating on what wireless headphones to get after being sorely disappointed with the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless. I had my eyes on these and the Focal Bathys. I decided to go for the H95s and this review helped to reaffirm my decision. I really appreciated your insight, technical know-how, and just overall astonishment with these headphones. I'll be receiving my H95s in a couple of days, looking forward to seeing how they sound. I was really disappointed with the Momentum 4s I purchased. I assumed I'd be hearing some good sound, I expected to have a pleasant listening experience. Everyone seemed to have nothing but good things to say about them and they retail for $350 USD so I assumed they would be decent. I was shocked and blown away by how poor sounding the Momentum 4 Wireless were. I hope to be blown away by the H95s but in the opposite way. Rather than being blown away by poor performance, I hope to be blown away by stellar performance and a pleasant listening experience. I never considered myself an audiophile, but after hearing how muddy the Momentum 4s were, maybe I'm more audiophile than I thought. I am somewhat sensitive to sounds and music. I feel I may have spoiled myself by sitting in front of my Audioengine 5+ stereo speakers all day, although I never considered them to be "Audiophile" material. Perhaps I was wrong about that too lol. I just can't get over how poor sounding the Momentums were. I just can't wait to be blown away in a positive way by a pair of headphones like I expected to be with the M4W. If a $350 USD pair of headphones can't do the trick, surely a $899 pair can right? lol
Glad my review was helpful. I was certainly very impressed with the H95, they just sound "right" to my ears, something that I have struggled to find from other headphones. Please let me know how you get on when they arrive!
@@soundsheavenly Well, I received my H95s but I've already returned them. At first they were amazing, and still are for the most part. They sounded much better than the Momentum 4s and I loved the controls. There was some discomfort with regard to the clamping force but I was working on breaking them in and getting used to it. In the end, the reason I returned them was due to a game sound effect that it didn't seem to be able to reproduce properly. The game is FFXIV and there is a simple menu sound effect that is supposed to be a subtle clicking sound that the H95s made quite unpleasant. It made what should have been a subtle click into a sharp almost popping sound. It handled the sound effect better at lower volume levels but the harsh sound became more and more evident the louder I made the headphones. At about 80% volume, the clicking sound became very harsh. It felt like it was penetrating my eardrum. I purchased 2 other headphones at once and switched between them, performing a test of the sound effect, before ultimately returning the H95s. The other 2 headphones I tested were the Bowers and Wilkins Px8 and Focal Bathys. Both headphones handled the sound effect fine at 80% volume. Overall I feel the Focal Bathys produces a cleaner more pleasant sound experience but are similar to the H95s with regards to their sound signature. Why the H95s couldn't handle that menu sound effect is beyond me. It was surprising how well it handled everything else while failing so poorly to produce this silly sound effect to the point of producing a rather unpleasant, somewhat painful sound. In the end, it was hard to justify the money spent when it seemed to fail where these other 2 cheaper headphones had no issue. Both the Px8 and Bathys sound great. I'll miss the H95s controls and premium feel and while that 1 sound effect test was an odd thing to return them for, I simply couldn't justify keeping them with that glaring flaw. FFXIV is a game I play regularly and is one of the main activities I enjoy wearing headphones for. I like to have a few drinks, play the game, and run some music in the background. I needed headphones that could properly and pleasantly produce those sound effects, without sounding harsh to my ears. Again, while it may be a strange thing to nit pick, in my case it was an important aspect of my general use and for a pair of $900 headphones, I just couldn't tolerate it. I also tried every EQ preset on the H95s and it didn't make much difference what my EQ settings were, it just couldn't properly handle that sound effect. For most people, I think the H95s would be great. Personally, I'd recommend the Focal Bathys over them. While lacking in the looks and controls department, they provide an accurate and pleasant listening experience while saving you a couple hundred dollars. I still like your review and think the H95s do provide a unique listening experience. They have premium build quality and for the most part, sounded nice. Their controls will be sorely missed but since I don't plan on quitting FFXIV anytime soon, they didn't work for me.
Sorry to hear that they didn’t work out for you, that’s quite a shame. I haven’t tried this game but I will mention this issue to B&O so that they can investigate what happened
@@YourMajestyTheKing I think H95 is a high quality product and it would have been worth the original planned price of £900 GBP, so at £700 I think it is well priced.
This video just cost me £750 (8750NOK), or £50 (583NOK) per minute . 😄 Seeing it convinced me to replace my old H9i, and I just had to order the H95. Thank you Steve 😄 But seriously, I have wanted the H95 since the day they were released, and I can't wait to get them! This video made me pull the trigger 👍
Hi there Steve. I confess I indulged myself on a pair of H95s (first new headphone set since my Form 2s!) and I couldn’t agree more with your comments. They are truly extraordinary, I have been listening to long term favourite albums, and I am hearing sound elements I have never heard before. Expensive yes, but highly recommended, definitely. On a separate note do you have a cable that would link them to a beomaster 7000, I am really keen to hear some vinyl through them !!. All the best with the channel Steve Alexander.
Thanks Steve! Yes, I wish I had got some sooner! I have a 2m long cable here to use the H95 with your Beomaster 7000 to play back your vinyl: soundsheavenly.com/bo-play/150-2327-premium-braided-cable-for-beoplay-h95-h2-h4-h6-h7-h8-h8i-h9-h9i-headphones-with-metal-plugs.html#/3-length-2m
Hi Steve, thank you for this very informative review! My first B&O Product was the 3rd Gen H9s, and I absolutely love them. However, I found that the sound quality on the H9s dramatically improved when I connected them via wire to my listening source. Have you had a chance to compare the H9s wired to the H95's wired performance? Interested to hear what you think!
Hi, glad the review was helpful. Yes, the H95 also sounds best when used wired in my opinion. I find the H95 to sound far better than the H9, it is a "night and day" difference for me. I would go for the H95 every time if your budget allows.
Small hint regarding the H9 3rd Gen: They sound their absolute best when using a DAC amplifier (even though they have only around 30-40 Ohms impedance if I remember correctly).
So ADC-ing heavily? Do they support USB Audio, so one can use the internal DAC+DSP rather than using one's laptop DAC (ugh) and then add the ADC in the chain.
I haven't tried USB audio to the headphones, but if you use Bluetooth then the headphones will receive a digital signal from your laptop and process this with the high quality internal DAC. Best option of all is a good external DAC and use a cable to the analogue line input of the headphones...
I ended up with the H9 3rd edition, the H9 having a true switched off passive mode, I believe having to have the H95 switched on for passive mode causes double dac issue when using an external dac for use with apple lossless music, the sound was very dull even after playing around with the app, so H9 for me, very pleased with them
Well I got them for under £440 opened box - like new. I might keep them but not sure just yet. Still really like my Bower and Wilkins P7 wireless/ B and O Beoplay H7 wireless/Crossfade Moda 2 which I have had them for over 3 years now / recently Sony H910 got them as free gift they are good also. Did return BandO H4 2nd gen/Sennheiser HD 579/Master and Dynamics MH40/ Sony MDR-100ABN/MDR-1000X and couple other from 1more, over the last 3~4 years. Keeping my Sony MDR-Z1R and Beyerdynamics T5p 2nd gen for many years to come.
I am very strongly considering pulling the trigger on these! But I look around my room & see how many I own, and how few I use.. Then I realize I have a problem LoL! That B&O sound signature though; is truly a great drug!
I haven't had any issues with the volume dial being wobbly. However, I tend to use the cable connection and keep the headphone volume at maximum, then use the music source for any adjustments, this all works fine
The conclusion on selling the sennheiser is THE sales pitch! Please don’t get me wrong, but you’ve managed to illustrate how good the headphones are Steve. 👍👍 I would say the H95 is better sounding than B&W P9 Signature.
Thanks, I will freely admit that I have loved Sennheiser headphones for many years, they are superb! I was quite shocked at how good the H95 headphones sounded compared to the Sennheisers, even though both of the models I compared them to are really, really good. I haven't heard the B&W P9 yet, so unfortunately I can't comment on those, but great to hear your views on the H95!
I own the H95 and have tested the PX7. Can’t say the PX7 sound as good, they sound a bit darker, more “sealed in”. But for half the price they sound really good. Regarding fit, both fit nice, the PX7 earcups are more spacious tho.
On the H9 you mentioned to wear them the other way around due to your ear shape. Do these have the same issue or are they just comfortable as is even for bigger ears? (Got the same issue lol I got some weirdly shaped ears)
I have Sennheiser Momentum 3 on the way(AUD $495), and somehow ended up drooling over the H95 (AUD $1,490) 😅😂 They are 3x the price of Momentum 3's! so its a difficult choice :/ (I live too far to go to showroom and test any, so I have to watch many reviews) You can get a Samsung or LG 7.1.2 Atmos/DTS:x Sound-bar & Sub home-theatre setup for this price 😥 Steve have you tested the Momentum 3's ? If so, is it worth getting H95 and selling/returning Momentum 3's when arrive? I don't care about ANC features in this case (as these are for indoors working & watching stuff on laptop). I just care about = Clarity/mid blowing sound Quality build Doesn't hurt crown of head in less than 3hrs use.
H95 are superb headphones, but very different from Sennheisers. I haven't tried the Momentum 3, so I can't comment on these. You really do need to hear headphones for yourself before purchasing, as each person's ideas of comfort and sound quality will vary - don't take my word (or anyone else's!) as you need to know if they work for you.
@@soundsheavenly thank you for such a swift reply! :) Sadly it leaves me in a bind since i'm not in a position to test :( I can always buy, test then return if want..Its just troublesome process to return products when live rural. You and many commenters praised the sound quality, & build quality is clearly top notch. Just one last box to tick... Over the last yr since this vid, have you found the H95 hurt crown or ears after less than 3 hrs?
Hi, I find the H95 to be comfortable for long term use but your mileage may vary as they say. Always try headphones for yourself if you can, but I know this isn’t always possible
Hi Steve, Gr8 review as always. I was wondering is the default cable which comes with the H9i good enough for wired listening? I know you said the one that comes with the H95 is very good, and I hope it’s the same for the H9i.
Thanks! There is room for improvement with the H9i cable, I have an upgraded version here: soundsheavenly.com/bo-play/150-2327-premium-braided-cable-for-beoplay-h95-h2-h4-h6-h7-h8-h8i-h9-h9i-headphones-with-metal-plugs.html#/3-length-2m
@@soundsheavenly oh, that’s a bit disappointing that it’s not approved by you. Appreciate the suggestion, Steve! Will have a look. Thank you and have a lovely Christmas.
How do you like them? I'm really considering these as my next set of headphones. The only thing that concerns me are the complaints I'm hearing about low volume.
Are any B&O products still made in Denmark? I was disappointed to learn that the Beosound Balance is made in China and that’s a major turn off for me especially at that price point.
I think it varies between different products, depending on the materials involved. I know that the Beolab 90s are assembled in Denmark, for example, due to the specialist aluminium forming required. B&O should be able to confirm for specific products on request via their website contact form.
Bought the H95 after watching this review, definitely the best decision I've made this year, can I ask what EQ settings would you would you suggest for someone that listen to all genres of music?
Hi I recently got the H95 and I worry a bit about how to drive them properly. I was previously using the H9 3rd Gen with a Fiio K5 Pro DAC headphone amplifier. Because the H95 cannot be used passively and rely on a ADC to convert the input line-in analog signal to digital and internally processing it back to analog, I worry that my DAC amp or even my phone could break their ADC unit. If anyone uses the Fiio K5 Pro too, is a 9 o'clock volume setting and mid amplification (around +6dB) (or no amplification at all) fine for the headphones? Regarding phone use: Should my phone's output volume be set to 100% and this output then get dialed in using the headphone's volume wheel to ensure the best signal? My phone is a ASUS ROG Phone 5s. Thanks in advance!
Yes, setting the phone to the highest level that plays without distortion usually gives the clearest sound, then you can turn this down with the headphone controls to the required level. H95 don't need (of benefit from) an external DAC, as their built in DAC is superb so they work well from any analogue input
@@soundsheavenly @Steve at Sounds Heavenly Thanks Steve, for your quick answer :D Well I have to use an external DAC since my PCs onboard soundchip is unfortunately not great and outputs a very unclean signal (high frequency hiss).
Hi Steve, Thanks for your review. I surely understand why you are so impressed, they’re absolutely marvelous. I flipped my grado for a pair and they are almost as good. But I struggle to find the best way to use with my vintage bm4400 and bg4000 setup. I don’t recognize your experience using them with a cable as I seem to get some amp after amp like noise, especially if the h95s are at low to semi high volume and i touch the volume control on the bm4400. It works fine with my h9 and the old grados. Do you just turn the h95s to max volume and use the other volume control for the best quality or do you have any other suggestions?
Hi, yes I turn the H95 volume to max when connecting via a cable and I haven't had any noise issues this way. Then the Beomaster can be used for volume adjustment. Please let me know if this helps!
Hi!I have the xm3's and i m quite dissapointed with the sound quality:The clarity is not amazing and the worst part is the sub bass that it s almoast non existing and it also distors at under 100hz.My sennheiser ie80 blows this out of the water and they are almoast 8 years old and cheaper. How is the h95 conpared to the xm3's.All reviewers priase the xm3 s and i dont rly it s the case. The noise cancelling and the battery life is great ,but the sound qulaity could ve been better.Have a great day!
Hi, I haven’t heard the XM3 but I have listened to a lot of Sennheiser headphones and I rate the H95 very highly against them. I recommend hearing them for yourself if possible
I just bought these but I haven't received them yet. Since you are a cable expert, I have a question for you. Apparently these headphones support listening over the USB-C cable. Do you think the sound would be as good with USB-C as 3.5mm?
Thanks, you can use the USB cable for listening, but personally I found the thicker USB cable awkward to use.and the sound seemed clearer to me over the 3.5mm cable
@@soundsheavenly OK thank you for a great video and the response. I have one very thin USB-C cable that I can try and compare on the computer. Unfortunately I havent had a phone with 3.5 jack in a long time. Have a nice day! looking forward to next video
Finally someone answer an ANC 🎧 with concern on sound quality. Thinking of h95 plugin with balanced cable to headphone amp should be even better enhancement.
Thanks! Yes, a headphone amp will help improve the sound even further. No need to look for an amp with a balanced output, as the H95s have an unbalanced input so either balanced or unbalanced will give the same high quality sound
@@klc2578 Yes, I like the H9 3rd gen but they are OK headphones, whereas the H95 are GREAT headphones. If your funds won't stretch to the H95, then you will get good results from H9 but if you can go for the H95 then 100% they are the better choice in my view
They look amazing ! & See you lost for words on the quality, tells anybody interested in these beauties !! Must visit a store very soon when it's safe to do so or go to website & treat yourself ! 👍👌🎧
Dear Steve, My name is Simon and I come from Germany! I am a big fan of your videos because you explain everything very precisely. At home, we have some B&O systems. Among other things, the beolab 1. I hardly find any experience reports on the internet, so I hope that you could maybe make a video about these boxes. I keep asking myself what the advantages of these boxes are compared to the penta 6611 ... The beolab 1 may look timeless, but why is the bass so incredibly weak? With a size of almost 1.90 meters you actually expect a deep, powerful bass! But there the 20 years older Penta 6611 with countless many woofers and mid-range speakers are much better and, above all, very durable. The beolab 1 broke after 2 years (normal use). The repair cost 600 euros !! We have had the Penta 6611 since 1989 and it wasn't even broken. What can you say Is it worth keeping these boxes, or were they a bad buy? So far, the beolab 1 have been the speakers with which we could hear music the loudest. Neither the Penta nor the 8000 can keep up. These get hot immediately! Is it still worth buying the new beolab 20 or 18 if you like to hear loud disco-pop from the 80s / 90s? Or do they break even after 2 years? And are these boxes loud enough for a large party room? Warm greetings from Germany and a Merry Christmas! Simon
Hi Simon, many thanks for your kind words! I have always preferred the sound of Beolab Penta to Beolab 1, they both give a very different sound. Penta seems warm and deep, while Beolab 1 often lacks bass in comparison. I think that some owners have adjusted their Beolab 1s to give more bass, but I still prefer the sound of the Pentas. However, Beolab 1 can go very loud, as you have found! I hope to be able to make a review of Beolab 1 vs. Penta in the new year. Also wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Just wondering. If streaming from a phone - what streaming Service are you using to get the maximum out of the h95? I am on Android and i dont know what to choose Don't want to overpay for a streaming service. But i do like these headphones a lot - so i want to get the most out of them
Hi, I use Spotify, paying for the basic subscription service allows you to unlock the higher quality streaming options in the Spotify app. Well worth it to get the best from these great headphones without adverts in my view.
@@soundsheavenly thanks for the quick response. My only complaint with these headphones is they don't get loud enough. But to b&o defense - i do listen at stupidly high volume. Any recommendations on a amp that will work with these. Is very new to the hobby and i would hate to ruin something at this price 🤣 but b&o definitely makes me proud to be danish.
Hi, if you use an iPhone then the phone may be the cause of the low volume. If that doesn’t help then Fiio and Dragonfly make some great headphone amps
I'm looking to upgrade my wireless ANC headphones (I currently use Bose QC35ii) to a high end set and the H95's are top of my list. I'm also looking at the AirPod Max as I have Apple everything. I am in the early stages of my 3 month trial of Amazon Music HD on my iPhone 12 mini and music sounds pretty good using the QC35ii. I am going to wait until you release your comparison video before I make my final decision. Do you think using the audio cable rather than bluetooth would increase the sound quality from my iPhone? I've subscribed and am looking forward to looking through your company web page when you open it up again.
Thanks! Yes, the cable gives the best sound quality for the H95, this helps improve the sound whether you are using a phone or a dedicated audio pre-amp. I'm trying to track down a set of AirPods Max to make a full comparison, lockdown is making this a little more difficult than I had expected!
@@soundsheavenly Thank you for your prompt reply. What is your opinion of a DAP (looking at the Sony ZX500) for streaming Amazon musicHD compared to the iPhone 12? I'm looking for the best quality sound I can reasonably afford to match the (possible) H95. I've watched many reviews of the Airpod Max on youtube and the opinions vary so am looking forward to your verdict. Once you add the audio cable & decent carry case to the APM the cost is very close to the H95's. Decisions, decisions eh !!
@@ianchamberlain1631 I haven't tried this Sony product, but a good portable headphone amp/DAC will always help you to get the very best from your headphones. I would recommend trying out the H95 via the extended return offer on B&O's website at the moment (please see the link in the video description for full details) - this way you can make your own choice without needing to wait for me to find some AirPods Max to review first!
@@soundsheavenly Thanks again for your time during this holiday period Steve, very good of you. I have taken your advice & just placed an order for the H95 using the link you supplied. 30 days should be enough time for me to make up my mind about them (but it's part way there after seeing your enthusiasm for them!) I hope my 60 year old years can hear the difference !!!!
I use Apple Music for high res streaming, whats the position for using the line in with an external DAC, such as ifi XDSD, the H95 have to be turned on for the line in so, will there be issues?
Hi, yes this should work well, I use my H95s mainly via the line input from a DAC connected to my PC and I have been very pleased with the results. The H95 auto detects the line input once they are powered on, so no problems there. H95 doesn't work unless they are powered on, as they don't have a "passive" option.
I suggest checking the H95 sound profile in the B&O app, this is active even when using the line input. The Neutral profile is a good place to start, then you can tune this to suit your preference.
I will aim to follow up with a full comparison review once the Airpods Max are launched, my plan in this video was to present the H95 as potentially being the ultimate wireless headphones...
H95 is a masterpiece. b&o solved and implemented "bitter" learnings regarding functionality (haptic) from the young brother from H9 series. They are acoustically similar to the H9i (H9i slightly louder then H95). Enjoy them!
BLADERUNNER 2049?!?! Are you joking? Apart from the ground-breaking & visually stunning masterpiece the original was, it's one of my ALL-TIME favourite movies & need to listen to it at high volume to experience the atmosphere & the detailed character. That's why I can only watch it when I'm home alone without any, "It's so loud!", comments or, "Can you turn it down!" preceding the slamming of bedroom doors! LOL One of Hans Zimmer's best I think....(but then there's INTERSTELLAR, we could go on & on)... Anyway, I am a fan of the B&O sound & have: E8 Mk 1, E8 Mk 3 (only worn a few times), H8 Mk1, H9 Mk 3 (only worn a few times) and was "annoyed" when these were released, as I wanted "1 pair to rule them all!". So, I too am thinking of selling all my others to fund these. So am thinking if we have similar taste in music/movies & you're raving about them, then they must be good... Only problem is not the price but the crazy price discrepancy: £700, €800, $800USD, $1399AUD (checked with local store), seems the cheapest place to buy the from is the US. Any ideas? Cheers
Yes, that sums up my view of Blade Runner (the original and 2049) - I normally have to play them loud when alone... 2020 has meant that I don't get evenings alone as no-one is ever out of the house, so the H95 headphones have been the first time I can experience that full dramatic soundtrack properly without waking up the kids. "One pair to rule them all"? Yes, I like that. Perfect description. Shame about the price differences, if you have a friend in Europe who can safely send you a pair, that would help...
Understood. They certainly aren’t cheap, but all this technology and the high quality does come at a cost. H9 are still good headphones at a lower price
Steve, I got one of those on E Bay But I can't tell if it is real. Are they made in China? They pair with the app from B&O but I am not sure. Sound it is not that I expected from B&O product
Hi, I'm sorry that I can't comment on eBay sellers, you do need to be careful as there are a lot of fake headphones about that are very poor quality. Please always buy from a B&O dealer or direct from the B&O website to be sure of getting high quality genuine products. I suggest contacting B&O via their website to confirm if your headphones are genuine B&O products.
I'm really not a fan of the Airpods Max sound, which is one reason I haven't reviewed them on the channel yet. The H95 are pleasant to listen to with a wide range of music and movies, but I can't enjoy the sound of the Airpods Max anything like as much. Well worth the extra cost for the H95 in my view.
@@soundsheavenly Will we see a review of the Airpods Max sometime against the H95? How would you compare jazz music on these two headphones? Thank you in advance.
@@christosdemetriades6031 Hi, Unfortunately UK lockdown means I won't have a chance to make a review of the Airpods Max for the time being, however I'm not a fan of the sound of these headphones so that is no great loss for me!
Thanks! I personally love the sound of these headphones, I don't change the equalizer at all for the H95, they sound great with the default EQ settings.
@@soundsheavenly thanks for your fast reply, i have the beyerdynamic xelento, do you believe it worth to buy the beoplay at this price or it will be about the same quality of sound?
@@Kazeant You should get a massive improvement going from in-ear earbuds to over ear headphones like the H95 at this price range. I would certainly recommend trying the H95, I think you will be very impressed with the sound and quality.
Hello Steve, thx for the vid did you know, its possible to buy replacement Ear pads for the gold version of H95 ? the B&O online Shop didnt have Ear pads for the H95 :-( What you think will cost replace ? Tom
@@soundsheavenly i got the H95 headphones yesterday , wow what a sound, i pair it with my PC over APTX Avantree DG60 USB Bluetooth 5.0 Audio Movie Sounds is fantastic and wehen is connect to PC i can in the Same time make options in the IOS App from B&O I happy i see your video in the right time, so i can cancel my Aipods Max order only one thing didn't work the automatic shutdown after 15 minutes, i shutdown my PC, but it just stays on, I had the batt. was noted when i go out the houise, and when i come back home , in 7 hours it was down from 61% to 22% my firmware on my headset is 5.2.1.793 , your the same ? work your auto Shutdown correctly ?
@@Bermatingen Glad to hear that they are sounding good! Yes, my H95 will auto shutdown after 15 minutes when used wirelessly, but they do stay on if they have the cable connected. Just unplug the cable from the H95 and they will turn off after 15 minutes if they aren't being used.
@@soundsheavenly The mistake was that the PC still had power on the USB after it had shut down and therefore the BT transmitter did not turn off, now it's going as it should My H95 now switches itself off after a few minutes
I prefer the sound of the H95, I haven't yet found any other headphones that can match them. I suggest trying them for yourself, please let me know what you think once you have heard them!
@@soundsheavenly I have them and I think they’re great I’m looking to add another pair of Bluetooth headphones to my collection for the new year but want to upgrade to an even better pair. Are you sure these are the absolute best?
@@jonathanbarnes7641 These are the absolute best that I have tried. B&O currently have an extended risk-free trial offer on their website, so you can try them out for yourself and return them if you aren't happy - please check the link in the video description for full details!
@@soundsheavenly I’ve been trying to purchase the cables for the Beoplay H95 Bluetooth headphones mainly for the length and the good tip which I think makes them sound better than the silver tipped cables that come with the Beoplay H95 out the box in my opinion?
@@jonathanbarnes7641 My store will be open again tomorrow after the new year break, then you will be able to see the upgraded H95 cable here: soundsheavenly.com/bo-play/150-2327-premium-braided-cable-for-beoplay-h95-h2-h4-h6-h7-h8-h8i-h9-h9i-headphones-with-metal-plugs.html#/3-length-2m
Hi, sorry I have never seen or heard any Focal headphones, so I can't comment on those. Best to hear both for yourself to see which suits your own ears best.
@@joshuamikelson6230 When turned to maximum transparency, the H95 seems to boost the treble slightly, but this is good to give an amplified version of the outside sound. When the transparency is turned up just a small amount, the sound is clear and realistic.
@@soundsheavenly thanks for this. I have a toddler at home, so I’d like a pair of ANC That when needed can also allowing good awareness of the mayhem he’s causing. I tried the Aipods Max, but the earpads really bothered my ears, and they generated a lot of condensation. Very disappointing.
Thanks a lot, excellent review as always. I also favored open Headphones (Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic) and switched to H9i a few years back. I would switch to H95, especially with your recommendation, anytime, if B&O managed the same effortless device-transition as Apple with their AirPod Pros. I strongly dislike headphone cables (sorry, I know you are THE cable guy, I like cables for permanent installations like speakers only). So as much as I like B&O, the non-effortless switching of my 5 Apple devices (watch, phone, ipad, macbook, imac) as well as the sometime audio-hiccups from my H9i resulted in a sadly no-no for the H95 and probably will have me buying Airpods max :-(. Also my H9i and probably the H95 result in random music-playback when getting turned on and auto-connecting to the last Apple device used - annoying.
Thanks, I know what you mean about the advantages on being cable free for headphones! I am considering going wireless for the connection from my pc to the H95, which is a major step for me as a cable maker! I can see that it could be a challenge to get multiple devices linked to the headphones
@@soundsheavenly okay thank you very much for the information. I did hear you have had used the H9 3rd gen. I just bought a pair of H95’s. How much better would you consider the bass response on the H95 compared to the H9’s (I own a pair of H9i). And would you consider it to be a physical bass response?
@@spicymemesz The bass response of the H95 is amazing compared to the H9, I have never heard headphones like these! The bass isn't boomy or over-emphasised, but it goes really, really deep. A transformation from the H9 (which are already good headphones) in my view
Hi! I tried them on demo in store, for just for a brief minute. Obviously they're on a league of their own and come to B&O .. it's been competing with themselves till now, given they have their customers and niche , so price wise it is what it is. I wanted to ask you about the main issues other reviewers have been voicing out, mainly to do with a couple things.. weight, ( heard the Air POds Max are actually heavier) , so not for taking out on long outdoor sessions maybe , and the volume wheel being slightly off or not firm enough .. what are your thoughts on that? love em though
The volume wheel isn't the firmest to touch, I tend to set this to max when listening via a cable, then it isn't an issue. I find the H95 not too heavy, just enough to keep them securely on your head - not a headphone for sports, but great for a walk outdoors (don't think I would want to risk them on a rainy day though!)
@@soundsheavenly Thanks for youe reply! I've given it much thought, and obviously feel in love with them. They are arriving today, and I'm a bit nervious, cause as we know it's quite a heavy price tag. But i'm excited. Will let you know my thoughts hands on. Merry Christmas from Spain and happy New Year.
@@soundsheavenly HI S! been playing now with the H95s for about two weeks. Been trying to get them to express themselves in the fullest way, They are amazing for sure., albeit with a few quirks, I must admit. I tried even to connect to Siri , but no idea how to.. Other than that, with the cable and Tidal Masters alone, (and NC off) they get quite a beautiful clean sound. WIsh they could be used just with cable though, but batterywise is great too.
@@artactreact2387 Yes, it would be great if they could be used as unpowered headphones with the cable, but I guess they wouldn't give that great sound without the processing. Battery life seems to go on forever... I haven't tried adding Siri or any other voice assistant yet, but I will try that.
Been after some great audiophile great bluetooth headphones for a while now. Okay at home i use a cable and DAC BUT if i wanna go into the city? Or travelling? Yeah i wanna keep my music with me and not cut down to consumer level. These are what i was searching for 😃 ordered a pair
@@soundsheavenly I’ll get them next week but was able to test them at a store yesterday. Absolutely incredible in comparison to consumer level headphones, the 3k focal stellia came close in my opinion lol
To my ears, the B&O sounds clearer, cleaner and with deeper bass that doesn't feel too heavy. Plus the connectivity of the Apple is severely limited by the lack of a line input, so the Airpods Max don't work for me at all.
Hi, they don't give true surround sound (no headphones can really do that, they are always stereo with one cup for each ear) but they give you a very immersive sound that makes you feel part of the action.
@@soundsheavenly Thx for the reply. I actually went to the Apple store to listen to the AirPods max today and honestly I was not impressed. As a normal person, not an audiophile, I have always found my music lasting a punch and clarity, since I have been using just iPad speakers, budget soundbar and headphones. Got the AirPods Pro for conf call 2 weeks ago and was unimpressed when listening to music with them. Was hoping the AirPods max would be a huge step up but no. Didn’t have a sense of being touched at all. Going to try out the B&o H95 tomorrow. Hopefully that will turn out different.
@@soundsheavenly Went to some stores and got to listen to many headphones. All the popular wireless ones, Xu-1000M4, Bose 700, Sennheiser Momentum wireless, H9 3rd gen, and H95. Also listened to a bunch of audiophile wired headphones like Sundara, Ananda, Focal Clear Pro, Sennheiser 660S, Denton D9200 and the new Hifiman HE-R10. Honestly the wired ones were much better than the wireless ones, except... for H95. I found that to be very surprising to be honest. I was just listening to the H95 wirelessly using a 12 Pro Max which only does 44.1/16. To me some of wired ones sound better than the others, and the H95 is like right there in the middle and it’s supposed to be significantly worse. For wireless ones, the H95 was by far the best. I don’t know how some people can say the Airpods Max sound better... though probably only 1/10 people who listened to both say that. I found the H95 better than the Sennheiser 660S too. Do you have experience with other wired headphones and how do they compare to H95 to your ears?
@@kchuen Yes, I listen to a lot of wired headphones, I usually like Sennheisers the best but H95 has really surprised me - I find them more comfortable and better sounding than any other headphones I have tried for a long time. They are my current favourite, by a long way!
About every day wearing - i've read somewhere that operating temperature for them is [°C] 0 to 45. So you are prohibited to wear them in winter? Is this the problem with all the headphones?
I hadn't heard that - I used my H95 all through last winter without any problems. I guess that temperature range is more of a recommended guide to get best results and longer battery life.
I was so excited when i got this pair, but i was so disappointed. The wind noise you hear while wearing them is absolutely dreadful, even if its almost no wind outside...
Hi, that is really strange, I haven't heard any wind noise. Is that with the noise cancellation on or off? I recommend raising this to B&O, as you may have an issue with your headphones.
@@soundsheavenly Either the cancellation is on or off, i still hear it superloud. Yeah i will speak with them, i really hope its something wrong with them and not every pair is like this.
I had tried the H95 and returned it just before the Apple Airpod Max announcement and returned. FYI. the ANC is very weak on the B&O H95. The H95 is relatively good but the price of the H95 is not right. It should actually be priced near the Apple Airpod Max.
@@soundsheavenly I got the Airpod Max. I think that the H95 is actually good. But playing Ólafur Arnalds - Ljósi∂ sample from www.whathifi.com/us/features/10-best-tracks-to-test-your-headphones it really can't bring out the subtlety like my IEM 846 with bluetooth does. Of course they are totally different beast but deep down, it's a thorn. Just tried the Airpods Max. it can't do it either. But at least it's cheaper. Between Airpods Max and H95, H95 wins in a way that it's more flat sound than the Max. But Max is close. Comfort wise, the H95 is better.
@@YourMajestyTheKing Well I got them for under £440 opened box - like new. I might keep them but not sure just yet. Still really like my Bower and Wilkins P7 wireless/ B and O Beoplay H7 wireless/Crossfade Moda 2 which I have had them for over 3 years now / Sony H910 got them as free gift they are not bad. Did return BandO H4 2nd gen/Sennheiser HD 579/MandD MH40/ Sony MDR-100ABN/MDR-1000X and couple other from 1more, over the last 3~4 years. Keeping my Sony MDR-Z1R and Beyerdynamics T5p 2nd gen for many years to come.
No problem! I always make it clear that I am a lifelong B&O fan and that I am not paid for my reviews. I will continue to give my honest opinions on each product that I cover, but please bear in mind that I love the brand so my views may differ from others who aren’t B&O fans. My aim is to give you more information and insights into the products than would be possible from someone without my passion for B&O.
Was interested in these, but they are still over 1100$ USD in my country despite being 2 years old. Even in the states they still start at $850. Seriously? You could buy 3 different competing ANC headphones for the same price, or premium level cabled headphone. There is no way they could have the detail and resolution of such wired headphones, so why so expensive? Unreal...
As with any high-end product, you REALLY do need to experience it for yourself before making a value judgement. Here is my own view: No, they aren't cheap. Yes, they are worth the money if you can afford them. You won't know for yourself until you have placed them on your head and played some music.
@@soundsheavenly I have a pair coming next week. But from all the first impression videos I’ve seen the sound is top notch at all volumes. And the noise canceling is most impressive. I see why Apple didn’t announce this product during one of their 3 prior presentations. Unlike their other products, the AirPods Max need to be worn and heard by various objective sources to be believed and justify that price they are charging for them. Good word of mouth from actual users of the product will determine if this is another Apple success or not.
@@db4a Please let me know what you think when they arrive! B&O's H95 headphones are superb, also well worth a listen if you get the chance. I hope to get both products side by side for a review as soon as I can!
@@soundsheavenly I will. But there is one thing that the B&O H95 Headphones cannot beat Apple on. That would be how well the Airpods Max integrates with and takes advantage of the Apple ecosystem. All other things being equal, anyone that is invested in that ecosystem will give the nod to the Apple product unless another competing product is truly superior.
Agreed. However, having heard the H95, I suspect they will be very hard to beat for sound quality. That is my ultimate priority and as an Apple user, I would happily give up convenience features if it meant I could get better sound
Sounds amazing, headband is shit. Sennheiser 800s has the best headband construktion ever...emagine Those two combined.... But suondwise H95 is the best wireles headphone in the world right now... but stil light years away from the sound in my open an wired headphone Audezee lcd 3 with amp - OppoHa1...
Yes, there are some great headphone out there, so impressive to see that B&O can get right to the top of the wireless headphone game. I also keep both open (Sennheiser) and closed (B&O) headphones as the sound is very different - each is well suited to a different listening situation.
Hi, I think you may have a fault with your headphones? H95 usually has very good ANC, with good cancellation at all frequencies. I suggest contacting B&O for advice via the support section of their website so that they can look into this for you.
Sorry about that! Basically you can press a button on the H95 when they are paired to your phone and you can ask Google a question, the answer will be spoken back to you directly into the headphones
@@SpeedingguyDrake Thanks, that is good to know. I haven't set up an assistant on my H95, but interesting to see that it can work with the native assistant in your phone if required.
H6 are good headphones, but H95 takes the same sound tech and improves it way further. I loved H6, but I won't never go back to them after hearing my H95!
