JYP is a wise man. Channie excelled at everything he put his mind to, however he just wasn't suited to other groups (he had a chance of being in Got 7 and possibly Day 6, the timing wasn't right). Being a trainee for 7 years and seeing so many people come and go, not to mention his friends debuting without him played on his mental health. He had decided not to get close to others as it hurt too much when he was left behind. We all know Channie, he is a social butterfly, this was not him. Channie speaks openly about being in a dark place. He often says the boys saved him, without them he probably wouldn't be on this earth. I believe JYP saw this and wanted to give him this opportunity as he knew how much talent he had and to put it simply, he wanted to pull him out of that dark place. Remember, Channie had been a trainee there for 7 years. That was a third of his life. He lived there, in a dorm away from his family. The staff at JYPE became his alternative family and JYP was the head of that family. As the head, you do what you can to protect and Channie had the potential of being a super star.

Bang Chan had gone beyond just being a trainee. He had been studying music production and arranging as well as forming 3RACHA with Han and Changbin. Putting tracks on sound cloud. The staff saw something special in him and he had shown himself to be trustworthy to pick members from the trainees at JYP himself.

Chan was at the academy for 7 years, JYP had several boys and girls training, they thought it was something new that they formed groups themselves. Since Chan was the oldest man, he was given the privilege of choosing, writing and producing (he was already on his 3RACHA). He chose each one and also made the logo with the name chosen by him as well. He is considered the best leader, father of 7 unruly boys who fill him with pride. Leader, father, singer, composer, writer, he is excellent multitalent When they eliminated Leno and Felix he didn't forgive himself, but later they included them again, he always says that he had no direction and the group saved him. He is very sensitive and has tremendous patience.

Basically, the whole concept of having a trainee build their own group, was purely an experiment by JYP!! It certainly paid off for the company!

How much responsibility this young guy took on. He is not only talented in dancing, singing, rapping, but also as a composer, songwriter, and arranger. The fact that he created such a unique group is amazing. The fact that he is respected in the company speaks volumes about his qualities as a person and as a talented person. I'm glad it took so long for the company to debut it. Chan is a humble and charming guy, he gives everything to the members, letting them go ahead in all their endeavors.

here's how the survival show worked. Chan picked other trainees that he wanted to be in a group with him ( all the original 9 members) and then they had to do challenges and proformances infront of JYP where they were judged on their skills to see if all 9 members would be able to debut together. Lee know and Felix were both eliminated but during the last episode they had the veiwers vote on if they should be brought back and debut as part of the group or not. The members also named themselves stray kids and chan made their logo.

4:39 - If I'm not mistaken, Bang Chan had been a trainee longer than anyone else ever had. He had been there so long that everyone in his age group had either Debuted already, or Chan tells a story of everyone in his age range being told they were not going to continue training and being sent home.... Except for him. He was at the company as a trainee so long, that he ended up taking interest in the production side of music as well, and added those skills to his tool belt. Im under the impression that JYP could see his potential, trusted him as a person after knowing him for so many years, and none of the other groups JYP had put together were a good fit for Chan. It may have been to help Chan with his depression and give him hope. It may have been JYP's last attempt to get Chan into a group that he fit well with. We don't truly know. We do know JYP decided to give Chan the chance to show, not only his skills as a possible idol, but to also showcase the other skills he had learned at the company. Being able to recognize talent, how to balance the skills needed in a group with the big personalities that come with people trying to make it in the entertainment industry. Some people theorize that Chan is someone JYP may have been training.... To possibly take over the company some day? But that has no proof to back it up.

You asked if Bang Chan is the most popular of Stray Kids. I think Stays love them all but as far as most known, most followed I would say Felix and Hyunjin are the most popular. Recently Felix has generated the most money at events like Met Gala and Hyunjin has the most fancams with over 100M views, he has double over all other Kpop artists in the industry with 30. Thank you for reacting to my #1 bias. Bang Chan is actually Korean Australian. He was born in South Korea and immigrated to Australia when he was a toddler. Yes he is the mastermind in picking the members for SKZ, JYP knew that Bang Chan had the potential and experience to pick his members. He designed the SKZ name. He's the 99% main composer of their music apart from 1% when he brings in others to help when he feels it needs more but he is 100% the main composer. He is also the Leader for 3RACHA, as he's the one who formed the Group in 2017; he recruited Han and then Changbin. The name came from Siracha the hot sauce.

They are more than a group, they are a family 😊
