Love Voice Play!! They have a newer release of a Viking song "My Mother Told Me" that is amazing. I looked up the lyrics just so I could understand correctly. It's really good!! This (Bang!) was great and you got the feeling they really enjoyed it. Enjoyed your reaction. I subscribed to your channel at the beginning as I am a die hard 'Home Fry'! but I also enjoy Voice Play and Pentatonix.

Appreciate all you have to say about this cover. It's nice to see a reactor, you know, *react*, and do so with some actual thought behind their comments. Saw you'd done Home Free and their Sea Shanty medley. If you haven't viewed it already, you might consider reacting to VoicePlay's "My Mother Told Me", because TikTok said "Sea Shanties!!" and VoicePlay said, "How About Vikings?!!" Geoff's a little bit... otherworldly in that one.

@@PiscesintheRain I have been wanting to do this for a while, and thats been my biggest problem. There are a few reactors out there I have watched react to stuff like Queen, AC/DC, Aerosmith for the first time, and I don't understand how anybody could find out Queen exists, and still take the time out to set-up their recording before listening to it aha.

When you said that the original of this song is one of your faves, I was thinking "he's either going to love that change into major key or absolutely hate it." So glad you enjoyed it! I agree with you that J.None is often underappreciated - his voice is so rich, and really brings a lot to Voiceplay's songs.
Yeah, I appreciated it, and it is something that AJR themselves have done. Obviously its different to do it in a cover (especially where up to a point, it was pretty much a variation of the original's arrangement), than it is to do in an original piece. But that is very on brand for AJR, who so often are inspired by classic music, Jazz, and big band. They often use diatonic planing in many of their popular singles for dynamic changes like this mid-song, before again bringing it back. It's part of what I think gives them both a contemporary, AND a retro sound all at the same time.
This review reminded me of Ken Lavigne reacting to Disturbed "Sound of Silence". He also had predetermined not to listen or participate because he thought the original was perfect, and he came out nearly in tears and talking about how he had been an idiot for ignoring it for so long and he's glad he listened. You should watch that reaction! Its really great :) And this one was great too! I love when someone will go out of their way to listen to something they really don't want to, and are pleasantly surprised. Voiceplay always honors the original, and adds their own spice to it. I love these guys! And your reaction was fantastic!

I really like this one. Deejay sounds amazing with them, I really hope they pick him as high tenor. He collabed with them again recently, which they already released on Patreon.
I did see that. And I can't wait to be able to watch and react. He's got a great voice, and I've a feeling that wasn't even his highest register. I looked him up afterward, and he is very accomplished as well. If he sticks around, I might still miss Earl, but it would definitely soften the blow a little bit!

Sadly J None has now left to join the navy for the time being. So now more guest singers will appear. Maybe you know that Geoff and Layne have been friends and singing together since middle school , so it's no wonder they work so well together. DeeJay joins them for J None's last song with them, Man In The Mirror. Beautiful.
And that’s why he (Deejay) is backup for Alexander Hamilton tourin group (Philip group, I think). Which just started up in May I believe. Hamilton is coming to Greensboro, NC in 2022 and unfortunately but we do get native NC Cory which is the Peggy touring group.
Yeah someone else mentioned. That's incredible, and I LOVE Hamilton. I got to see it on Broadway years back. Awful seats... but didn't care. The music was so engaging. I love that for him. Good on Deejay.

So maybe some of the increase in numbers is from Home Fries coming here in droves. I know PTX has millions of subs and have a ginormous following. Home Fries seem to come out of the woodwork when new reactors start reacting to them! I’ve seen it happen to many reactors. Most reactors who never heard of them before are hooked on the first video. I wasn’t familiar with this song prior to Voice Play releasing the video. I’ve been following Voice Play for almost a year. I did watch this one after its release and I like it very much! It’s a catchy tune! I like what they did with it! See you on the Home Free song you posted!
I dare say most of my subs are from the Home Fries. It's definitely humbling, and a much better turn out than I expected. I was going to keep going anyway, because I like it, and it helps me relax. But the subs definitely help let me know that people are in to what I am putting out. Thanks again Beth! If you like this song, you should check out more AJR. They have very young, and contemporary ideas about music, but are SUPER interactive with their fans. And while they themselves are current, their music is heavily inspired by older music such as Big Band, Jazz, and 19th Century European orchestral. They bring classic sounds with a poppy update.
I agree with you completely about J.None. I LOVE Voiceplay, but I could listen to J.None and Eli forever. They'd never want to be my friend, because I'd expect them to serenade all the time.
