If you want to transfer directly to the BTS Sukhumvit line don’t get off at Makasan. Get off at the last station - Phaya Thai and you go downstairs straight onto the BTS.
Ive never done it that way, Ive always either been picked up from Makhasan station or stayed in the Makhasan area. but I assume continuing on to Phaya Thai its less walking time but more time on the train? Less walking with luggage would be easier. Although my last few trips from the Airport I have just used a taxi, yes it's more expensive and can take longer depending on traffic. But it's so much more easier.
Bangkok has to be one of the most efficient cities for getting from the airport to downtown. Also very cheap. Unlike cities where you have to take a taxi from the airport
Still in the planning stages, so any 'how-to' familiarization content helps big time when it comes to making the big move. Thanks, and much appreciated.
If my final destination is Nana station, should I take the airport link to the end and then ride the BTS back to Nana? I will have one medium sized roller bag. I’m not concerned about the cost, just which route is the easiest to navigate. Transferring to the MRT at Makkasan, and then transferring again to the BRT at Sukhumvit seems complicated.
When you visit Thailand, I highly recommend using the Airport Rail Link (City Line) for your journey from the airport to the city centers. It takes less than 30 minutes, and the fare is just 45 baht at most, which is much more convenient and faster compared to other transportation options.
No, you can't. The machine takes only cash which are small notes (20/50/100 THB) or coins. For credit cards, you may need to take cash from ATMs which are plenty at every station. If you have large notes you will be able to buy a ticket at the kiosk or you can buy a top-up card with a small deposit (50 THB).
Forrest, were you joking or serious about not doing as well financially? The market is up this year. So if you were serious I’m assuming RU-vid revenues went down. I enjoyed your video with Evan(?). Hearing your interview with him actually got me back into being more proactive in handling my stocks and it’s been 👍
Just go straight to the last stop in Phaya Thai, it’s more convenient to transfer to BTS line if your destinations are Mo Chit, Victory Monument, Chitlom, etc.
0:32 would've been quite funny if you do the typical Commiefornian Ultra Extra accent like.... "Ugh mah gawd. It's also Enviromentol friendliiieay. It's very slaaaayyy, like Slay kween"
Thank you so much for your information. I am Thai, but I live in Los Angeles. I don't know how to use BTS and MRT in Thailand. I am very glad to find your RU-vid. My family in Thailand, no one uses BTS and MRT. Next time, I will try to use this transportation. Please show me more of your content. Thank you again.
There's a reason why people pay (a lot) more to take a taxi. It offers door to door service. And it's the same price whether it's 1, 2, or 3 people. Someone travelling to Bangkok would most likely lug along a lot of heavy luggage. Having to transfer from one line to another (with the heavy baggage) takes the convenience out of everything especially after a long flight, one just wants to get to the hotel and refresh up. A true rail link should take passengers directly to Central Bangkok, (like the Hong Kong Airport Express, price notwithstanding), and not requiring the passenger to step off at some suburban station and transfer to another line to get into the city.
I agree with you but in my case my hotel is right next to an mrt line so it seems like a waste of money to take a taxi when I can hop on a train, make one transfer to an mrt, and be at my hotel for very little money. I also learn how to use the mrt lines to get around Bangkok for my 5 night stay. Plus, I will know how to get back to the airport when I continue on to the north. If you're staying in Thailand for a month, like I will be, those taxis and airport transfers can really add up to hundreds of dollars that can be spent on something else. 😊
Good vid. I wish I could find the schedules for these transit types. Getting in after 2200 to the airport and then needing to get off a plane, walk to the airport rail link and then in to the city requires a good understanding of late night schedule in order to know if this is a good option or if I'm just going to get to Makkasan and then not have a ride the rest of the way to Asok area....if you know what I mean.
As Thai, I heard from may news sources that the SRT who operates this ARL has some financial problem to provide more trains to the system to increase service capacities and varieties. That partly because they belongs to government service (unlike BTS/MRT are operated by private sectors )which quite slow when they try to set up budget and planning to acquires more trains.
Been to Bangkok once a few years ago, loved it, and had wanted to go back again for vacation ever since. As a matter of fact, I am planning to visit again in December. Really looking forward to it except that people are saying that there might be political unrest because of some issues with the recent election. I don't really know very much about what's going on. Do you think its safe to visit Bangkok in December, given whatever is going on there with its politics?
I'm Thai. I don't have any problems. Where did you hear that it's not safe? It's ridiculous because we already have the Prime Minister according to the law and now is the tourist season. Many destinations for travelers coming to Bangkok and going out to other provinces. December is a travel period for foreigners who escape the cold to find warm countries. The temperature in Thailand is comfortable. You can go swimming in the sea and the weather is clear. Or in Bangkok, there are many places to visit.
Generally our news outlets just tell us what they want us to know. If an election is going on there or here, there are issues. Do you remember our last two elections. Did you move out of out country? We need to stop pretending we are so good and everyone else is so bad. Just people y'all and we should only behave like people to each other.
We there recently,10/6/24 with my family of 6,get meter taxi from the airport, kiosk, both small taxi ,I use express way pay 25baht for toll, the other no,reach hotel no toll meter show 498 baht ,toll taxi meter show 241 baht, five minutes different, why so much different? Suspect Some taxi meter being meddle, dishonest
I might have missed something, but when you bought your fare at the airport did they give you 1 or 2 tokens (1 for the start and 1 for the ending). Or, do you use the same token at both ends?
One token. When entering you to put it on the tap (I don't know if it is the correct English word) to get opened the gate. At the final station you put the token into a slot when leaving.
Best video to tell about new means of transport from Suvarnabhumi to Bangkok city in a very simple, layman language. Very easy to understand. I believe you just copied the U.K English accent. Brilliant
I would not get off Makasan if I plan to go to Asok, I'll get off at the last station Phaya Thai, transfer to the BTS Sukhumvit Line, then get off Asok Station. Saves me the effort of walking under the sun, or rain, or in the dark.
Yes, it is. Thailand is very very safe at all times. Go to a food court, and you will see people leaving their handbags on a table in order to reserve it and then relaxed go for taking food. Nobody will steal them. Sounds like a dream for many Americans and Europeans, doesn't it?
It's utterly ridiculous that you have two lines that don't talk to each other requiring two different train companies and ticket types to travel from the Airport to the Central Terminal Station. Even in Australia, not really known for getting its transport 100% right is better than this. The Thai system is not user friendly.
After they burned tons of fuel to get to BKK. Green energy is what is most on my mind to get to the city. May reason is not to get stuck in traffic to use ARL, BTS, MRT..... To take the BTS you better change at Phaya Thai. To walk is much shorter.
I miss the train announcers commentary... I forget how it goes.. "the next station is xxxx"... in a soft female voice... - never got to hear it in your video..
Is it safe to take a taxi from suvanappom airport to a hotel in bkk around 3 :00 am, since probably there will not be airport rail link running at that time? Thank you!
I loved your video--really good detail--the tickets, the currency, and your good humour. One constructive criticism would be to not skim over the abbreviations of the BTS, MRT, ATR, etc....as newbies may not be sure what they are. good job, thank you.
Great video as always lot never show stopping here to transit to mrt. Does anyone have an opinion whether using mrt to sukhumvit or going further and transit with BTS to nana is faster ?
Thank you for a great video and sharing. Please tel me after you paid the lady she gave you two red tokens but I saw that you used a card !? to go through the gate ? what was that card ? then noticed you used the token in another gate ? I'm little confused .Once you were on MRT how many station was it to Sukhmvit ? thanks
My mom usually uses the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Transit to get to the hotel. She always stops at Ratchaprarop station which is between the Makkasan station and Phaya Thai station.
May be a little bit difficult as there are only two trains a day. One in the morning, and one in the afternoon. I would not recommend the train in the afternoon as you will arrive after 05pm at the border to Kampucha. The morning train from my station (Khlongtan) leaves at around 07am... so I think from Lat Krabang it will leave at may be around 07:25am. Much easier if you stay a day in BKK and take the bus to Kampucha.
@@hassanalihusseini1717 thanks for your reply, i read that first airport rail link leaves at 6am from airport do i risk it or should just take tuktuk or taxi i will arrive in airport at maybe 3 or 4am suvarnabhumi
@@hoyember 06am should be fine. If you want to go to Lat Krabang it only takes 10min or so. I think it costs15 Baht from Airport to Lat Krabang, and from Lat Krabang to the border may be 45 Baht.
If you visit Bangkok for the first time, don't get out at Makkasan station. Instead, go all the way to Phraya Thai, board the connected BTS back to Asoke, and giggle when you hear the announcement lady say "Next station, Nana" for the first time.
