Bangkok Chinatown Walk Around

I jumped on the train and met my girlfriend for a Bangkok Chinatown walk around. We explored the backstreets off of the main Yaowarat Road in the Chinatown area. Then we headed to the Soi Nana area. We visited Wallflowers and Brown Sugar for food and music.

When in Chinatown I love walking over to Wat Suthat, one of my favorite temples, next to the Giant Swing. It's also a quick walk over to The Golden Mount, another temple worth visiting at least once.

Wat Mongkon is a rather new part of the MRT, i remember just before Covid you had to get off near Hua Lamphong and then make the approximate half-mile (800m )walk to Yaoworat. Now with Wat Mongkon station, its only about 100-150 meter walk to Yaoworat Rd.

Yes, today there is another dozen stations on the MRT Blue and growing. It's a giant circle today. It seems like yesterday the Sukhumvit Light Green was Mo Chit to On Nut. Now it's dozens of more stations. Plus the new Orange line soon. I love the train system.

we saw video of charcole lobsters being cooked on the main street,, went there couldnt find any,, the lobster my wife had was ordered,, cooked in the back and bought out,,,,, i dont east seafood and just took in the scene. cost $80 Aussie for 1 meal. At another market i was told most of the lobster looking giant prawn looking things are freshwater. cant wait to get back to BKK

Ya, I've had the fresh water prawns. I had lobster in Jomtien. It wasn't $80. Maybe that was imported lobster? I've even seen Maine lobster in BKK. That will get expensive fast.

I took the MRT Blue from Queen Sirikit to Wat Mangkon. I think that's 6 stops and 10 minutes. Add another two minutes from Terminal 21 and Sukhumvit Station. Maybe 15 minutes to take the Green at Phrom Phong to Sukhumvit MRT Blue.

Ya, but it's all what you know. I'd guess Boon would be afraid of the 405 in California at 6pm. 70mph then 5 mph, then 80mph all in a mile stretch. Mix in bikes splitting lanes at 60mph when traffic isn't moving. Side-saddle at 5mph down Sukhumvit seems safe.

Question: what do you mean when you said "I avoided the lines at the BTS by buzzing my us credit card?" If you have the contactless enabled CC, you can use it at the BTS turnstile?

You can use a credit card on the MRT subway. The BTS skytrain does not accept a credit card. For that, I load money on a rabbit card. You need to load cash. You used to be able to put the first load with a credit card. But I did that 10 years ago. Things may have changed. I know you can't reload with a visa. I always try. It's cash only
