I just newly come across your channel and subscribed. Your exploration of Bangkok really teaches me new places that I’ve never been to in Bangkok. As such I’m hoping to learn from channel like yours and the likes of Bangkok Pat & Retired working from you.
To be honest Jan, the channel already had about 100 uploads before I picked it up again in April 2020. On the other hand I also published quite a few GTM videos under Sukhumvit Homes at the beginning. I would considder this one of the first GTM videos : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HfKANvM7Sq8.html
I have heard that the pink line will be operational next year. It will pass over my housing village at Chaengwattana Rd. Time for me to explore Bangkok and environment as I've retired for 10 years now and I could say unashamedly that I had only one time experience riding on BTS with my regular bike when it was still allowed 20 years ago to go to the meeting point at Chula stadium for Car Free Day ride around Bangkok. This time I will board MRT and BTS using my folding bike next year. One good thing about being a senior citizen is that you get a ticket discount on public transport everywhere whether regular train, BTS/MRT or Chao Phraya river ferry.
1k vids and knocking on the door of 50k subs……must be doing something right😃…..love that the BTS and MRT have expanded and can get to so many places without getting stuck in traffic in a taxi or Tuktuk….
Unbelievable you make 1000+ Videos now. But we are updated by you. A lot of traveling and a lot of time you invest in your Channel. CONGRATULATIONS Jeroen. 🙏
Jeroen, Gefelicitteerd met je 1000ste video en de bijna 50.000 subscribers. Thanks for all the information. We make a lot use of it on our last trip to Bangkok in November.
I used to live along Samakhee road. You mentioned LakSi intersection previously. So the line makes a southbound switch back from Chaeng Whatana. Great that there will be several connections with other lines. In the past it took > 2 hours by car during rush hour from Pakkret to the city centre e.g. Lumphini. By motorcycle about 45 m. When this line will be finished, 2 rides with swift connections. I suppose +-45 m total as well, but in air conditioned comfort. Thanks for the vlog
LG
Congratulations Mate for the 1000th video. Though I must wish for 1,100+ as of today. It is high time, Thailand tourism folks acknowledged your contribution for promoting their country 😅
The latest news is that they delayed the Yellow Line to June 2023 for the whole line, and the Pink Line from Government Complex to Min Buri to August 2023. As for the section from Nonthaburi Civic Center to Government Complex, that'll hopefully come later within 2023.
You may come to Royal Thai Air Force Museum from 24th to 26th Dec. 1330-2200. There will be Music in the Museum. Take the Sukhumvit green line further north from Wat Prasrimahathat to RTAF Museum station.
I hope that all new stations will have toilets that you can use whenever you want without having to wait for station staff to open them for you, similar to the MRT purple lines. I was on the MRT blue lines yesterday and needed to use the restroom, but it was locked. Allowing the security officer to stand guard outside the room while you use the restroom is embarrassing. It looks like a cop and a suspect. It gave me the vibe of a cop and a suspect.
