Bangkok Putting Electric cables under ground - Before and After Petchaburi 🇹🇭 Thailand

On Petchaburi Road there is a big project underway to put the electricity cables under ground. I noticed many people are annoyed by the electrical cables being above ground in Bangkok.
I checked the part that still needs to be done and the part of Petchaburi that has already been fixed. Also I noticed some interesting building updates such as the Mormon Temple that is being build on Petchaburi Road.
Furthermore there is a big Office building that just finished a few months ago called The Rasa 2.

Electric Cables are not so bad, but the communication cables are messy.

I agreed. The poles were originally set for electric wire only until telecommunications came along 20 years ago. Selfish commercial cable companies keep adding more on it and some never took them off after they shut down. Cant wait to see all these nasty wires go underground.

In the Philippines, we call them “spaghetti” wires. My city, Davao began burying cables a few years ago and it’s far from being done. In Manila however, all of the CBDs all have underground cabling. But many major arteries of the city looks worse than Bangkok.

The Thai government approved a budget of 45 billion baht or $1.5 billion. For the project to remove electrical wires to the ground in municipalities across the country , such as in Pattaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Hat Yai, etc.

I'd love to keep in touch with the engineers responsible for this project. I work at Power Utility Company in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and we have the oldest underground power network in Latin America (more than 100 years old). It would be nice to share our experience with maintenance and operations of underground network. Bangkok is an amazing city, and it deserves anything but the best in technology for power distribution.

Mostly the messy wires are came from the communication cables, since all the communication companies don't care of these wires. They hire the subcontractor for installing, but they don't hire any for removing (that's the huge cost). just cut off the signal when people unsubscribe.

It should be those communication companies responsibility to put those wires underground. It also shows incompetency of the government, not just this one.

My first daytime memory of Bangkok, was eating breakfast in my hotel dining room on the first floor. Right at wire height. As Chris from rethaired working for you will attest, film and video was totally cable driven, and for me, the one thing that messes badly with my head is rats nest wiring. I love them as a symbol of Bangkok and the way things work, but…it’ll be nice to see them go.

There are a few 'pocket developments' that have done this like ateneo university (as early as 1950's) and bonifiacio business district ('90s). But these are private developments.
