Extreme heat is one of many factors that makes Asia the most disaster-prone continent in the world. That's according to a new report by the World Meteorological Organization. Last year, extreme weather events across the region killed two thousand people and affected millions.
This latest report warns climate change is intensifying the severity of climate disasters. Floods, the melting of glaciers, along with extreme heat remain the major threats in Asia. And Bangladesh is one of the countries MOST vulnerable to the impacts of the climate crisis. It's currently facing its longest heatwave in 75 years.

Di Jateng pagi2 sekarang dingin bgt, kerja pagi mau mandi aja menggigil dingin bgt, kalo siang jam 9 keatas panas cetar smpe jam 4 sore, krn udah mau masuk musim kemarau. Tpi klo dibandingin sama tahun 80 90an masih jauh lebih enak cuaca dulu sih dripda skrg 😂 Skrg jam 9 udh panas cetar, dinginnya cuma pagi sma sore malem, dulu jam 11 siang masih sejuk berembun angin kenceng. Pemanasan global udh jelas terjadi, akibat area hijau menyempit dirusak, pohon2 ditebangi diganti beton. Gk kebayang 50 thn yg akan datang panasnya gimana. Bahkan gunung aja skrg bnyk dibabat jadi kebun dan perumahan kafe2 hiden gem, area hijaunya tinggal di pucuk aja. Perbanyak tanam pohon didepan rumah dan area2 kosong, bonsai sama bambu bagus bgt buat menurunkan suhu pas udh besar.

We should see this as an example how all countries are affected by this sooner or later. And how the costs of emissions who were tanked by the planet for over 100 years come back to haunt us. Not that cyclones are in North-America and Europe but that some extreme weather events happen more often and being stronger raising the costs it has on a country each year until one day it is more in total than fossil fuel ever created on profits.

Heat index here in manila reached 53c. I go out in the morning smelling nice perfume but by noon time i smell like roasted chicken coz my skin is burning. This year is especially bad. Never had this kind of heat before. Schools were closed and students go online to study. Offices now close early. Aircons are working overtime and yet it cant cool a room enough. Electricity consumption went thru the roof and worse power plants are breaking down due to the extreme heat. Stray animals like dogs and cats had it worst. There were many reports of cats and dogs just dying in the streets due to heat stroke. We are all doing our part by putting water stations around corners to give them some relief. But we cant do anything about their paws full of blisters due to walking on asphalts all day. Dams are drying up. Govt cant do cloud seeding coz there are no clouds at all, visibility is clear as far as the eye can see. Im afraid we will get strong typhoons later this year as the ocean waters are so heated today

I have lived without electricity in a hot top floor room in India last to last summer. One of my mentors has lived similarly in a hotter city than mine. Basically you sleep late around 12-6 am. Then take a siesta in the afternoon for 1.5-3 hr. The trick is to never use a ceiling fan, have South and west cross ventilation, and hydrate a lot. This year I use an AC almost whole day because now I have a baby daughter and I don't wish her to suffer. Why did I live without electricity,? Because I am a follower or student of Mahatma Gandhi and I was experimenting living as a poor person on 42 USD a month.

Nepal's rivers primarily flow into India, and some of them eventually reach Bangladesh as well. The Ganges River, for example, originates in the Himalayas in Nepal, flows through India, and eventually forms part of the Ganges Delta in Bangladesh. Similarly, the Koshi River, also known as the "Sorrow of Bihar," originates in Tibet, flows through Nepal and India, and joins the Ganges in India before ultimately reaching Bangladesh. While Nepal is landlocked and doesn't directly border Bangladesh, its rivers have significant impacts on both India and Bangladesh due to their interconnected water systems.

What should be blamed here are the European countries and the West; they are the ones at fault for the abnormal high heat index or heat waves. Just think of it as us healing the wound they inflicted. We're the ones suffering; if only the wealthy countries didn't abuse the use of fossil fuels, we wouldn't be experiencing this. We, especially those in ASEAN countries like the Philippines, are pitiful. The normal temperature here is almost 45 to 50 degrees Celsius. Can you imagine that?

While living in a country that contributes just 0.49% of greenhouse emissions globally every year, I am spending a quarter of my salary every month just to run a single A/C to keep one room cool (not cold) at this time of the year, every year, for 4 whole months. My family of 6 crowd inside my tiny home office just so we can all stay cool. Energy prices are through the roof. The A/C needs to be run almost 24/7. Not to mention the countless category 3 and above hurricanes that hit my country every year during the monsoon season after the heat wave is over. It is absolutely unfair. If we're the most affected by climate change, we should at least be compensated by countries that emit the most greenhouse gasses so that we could deal with the impact of climate change. The least that they could do is subsidize energy costs in countries affected the most, so we can level the playing field a bit. This would also incentivize the top greenhouse gas producing countries to work towards actually lowering down their emissions because if there's an international law that charges climate tax equivalent to the amount of greenhouse gas they produce. I promise you, they will stop giving us the walk-around and actually start doing actions that will slow down climate change. A win-win for all parties. The saddedst part? Everything I said is just wishful thinking.
