This is a promotional video that was sent out to subscribers of Nintendo Power magazine (as a VHS tape), just prior to the release of Banjo-Kazooie. It was narrated by Jon Lovitz, and gave a comprehensive preview of the game.
Interestingly, at the very end, there are quick video previews of many "upcoming" N64 games, including footage of Rare's own Twelve Tales: Conker 64 (which was canned in favor of the adult-oriented Conker's Bad Fur Day).

He is a funny man. I saw him on TV doing the “Funny You Should Ask?” Game show as one of the celebrities. Didn’t realized until recently it was him doing this preview of the epic game before it was released.

Me too, along with Zelda Ocarina of Time. I liked Conker's Bad Fur Day, but I might've preferred it as Twelve Tales instead. I'm glad Banjo-Kazooie came out because after how painful it was to waste money on Yoshi's Story in 1998, I know I needed a game to give me a bounce-back in Summer that year.

One thing I should point out about Clanker's Cavern is that Clanker himself is implied to be hostile in the video when he's actually a friendly character.

Even more than 20 years later, I still haven't seen a better promotional video for a video game. This is the best, most memorable promo for the best video game ever. This is truly one-of-a-kind. Even to this day, watching this is amazing! I watched this promo video hundreds and hundreds of times! I just couldn't get enough of Banjo-Kazooie!! I was in high school (just finished sophomore year) when I received this promo video in the mail back in June 1998. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite video games and it's probably the best game on N64 in terms of game design and graphics, with only Zelda topping it. It had some of the best, most beautiful video game graphics back in the day. Banjo-Kazooie IS a masterpiece!

Nintendo mailed this to me when I was a kid. I watched it SO. MANY. TIMES. Bought the game because of this video and it's still one of my favorite games to this day.

Daaaamn the memories. I remember getting this VHS and immediately asking for Banjo Kazooie for Christmas. I watched this tape over and over again until I finally got the game.

I got this VHS in the mail. I was so stoked to get an advertisement for a game in the mail that I got Banjo-Kazooie right when it came out. Rare had so many genre-defining games for the N64 it's incredible. Diddy Kong Racing was one of the best racers, Banjo Kazooie was one of the best platformers, and GoldenEye was one of the best shooters. The first two have aged really well all things considered. And Conker's Bad Fur Day is another classic but I never got to play it as a kid...had to play it later as an adult. Side note...Conker is so rare (no pun intended) that the cartridges sell for a TON of money on eBay these days.

If you miss collect - a - thon game's like Banjo and Kazooie and DK 64. Please support the kickstarter for Lobodestroyo its a retro action adventure game inspired by N64-era collect-a-thon platformers. Channeling the spirit of Rareware's late 90's titles.

I remember getting that video in the mail back when Nintendo Power sent out promo videos. I still have the VHS tape along with the other promo tapes NP sent out. The guy narrating the video is hilarious. When I watched this after Banjo-Kazooie came out I noticed the world descriptions in the video are the same as the Banjo-Kazooie instruction booklet.

Around the time BK came out, I had saved up enough for a Playstation, but my parents said no. Dejected, I watched this video and decided on a new game instead. That's how I got Banjo-Kazooie.

6:24 the ghost in that shed is purple in the game not green. Also here’s a tip. You don’t have to watch the game over video when you save once you accept it on the menu it’s saved. I know because I’ve tried it.

Super Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Sun and Moon, Crash N.Sane Trilogy, Cuphead, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hat in Time, Arms, Sonic Mania, Stardew Valley, and Ni No Kuni 2 are all half finished games that demand so many micro transactions... Oh no wait! None of them are like that at all. They, along many others, are all games made with loving care. Well fancy that! Its as if you have not down your research and/or being purposely ignorant of good games these days and only singling out the bad ones

Well first of all, you are guilty of the logical fallacy of Special Pleading Second of all: Doom 2016, Grand Theft Auto 5, Borderlands 2, Dishonored, Twisted Metal, Bioshock Infinite, Metal Gear Solid Rising, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Darksiders II, Far Cry 3, Uncharted 3, Injustice: Gods among us, Persona 5, Overwatch, Bayonetta 1 and 2, Fallout 4, The Witcher III, Rayman Legends, Xcom 2 And many many more. For every bad game there are quite a few good games to balance it out. For every game with gratuitous microtransactions there is one with reasonable DLC or nothing you have to buy. You are making this waaaay too easy buddy, you really should just stop before you make an even bigger fool of yourself. And third of all: "Nintendo games which are never bad"? Thank you for further proving you have no idea what you are talking about. I myself am a Nintendo fanboy, but not even I can deny they have made real crap.

It's already been established that Mt. FireEyes was HailFire Peaks with no ice side. Witchyworld and Glitter Gulch Mine were moved to Banjo-Tooie, and Fungus Forest is in Donkey Kong 64. (I know it was removed because a day-night level and a seasons level both in the same game would have been a little repetitive.)

wut I was subscribed to nintendo power but i didn't get this tape. The only ones I got were Diddy Kong Racing (wasn't even subscribed!), Pokemon and DK64 & Jet Force Gemini.
