That feeling of exploration when I was a wee me was amazing. Their ability to truly immerse ourselves in a world unlike our small earths, is amazing. Makes me sad :\ . When I have the time, I'll play this game all over again when I'm fried, cause it'll make enjoying events as if it were the first time
Been 12 years since I got my Banjo Tooie played it 1 year b4 my 64 broke.. bought a new one last month. I searched in my old drawer to find my dear Banjo Tooie game. I put it in the N64 and had the best feeling I've ever had. No1 can beat Rare during the 1990s and Grant Kirkhope's fantastic music!
Banjo Threeie should start with faded out scenes of nuts and bolts, the kazooie knocks Banjo on the head awaking him from his sleep (he was dreaming and nuts and bolts was just a dream).
MaitreRyu It was a dream because Banjo enjoyed himself. He got to play with toys like a kid and also relive killing gruntilda, both of those things are his most desired things to do since banjo tooie.
I think this is my favorite Banjo Kazooie music, over Hailfire Peaks and Clanker's Cavern. It has a nostalgic feel to it, particularly the bit at 0:46.
OMG Ive been playing this on piano for years - Thought I made it up but I knew it was too familiar, and totally clicked on this by accident and made the conenction!
I've always loved how Rare almost seem to go out of their way to avoid coming up with new tunes. The part at 0:46 is EXACTLY the same as the melody from click clock wood in the first game, only slowed down and played in a minor key. :)
One of the best games for the 64. The music was impeccable and the game play was par for the course. They don't make classic platform games like this anymore. It saddens me. Yeehaw!
They don't make "classic platform games" like this anymore because you're describing them as "classic platform games". You don't just place a game and think of it as a classic. And, yes, I got what you meant. You meant that they don't make platform games that have the potential to be a classic. So, what I said should just be nitpicking and ultimately irrelevant. But, it's really not. It's the mentality that led you to use the phrase "classic platform games" that disables you from being able to see the more recent classics like Super Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Super Mario 3D World. Yes, they don't have that same sort of open concept as the Banjo games did, but that isn't necessarily entirely bad. There are things you can't do with that sort of open concept. And there are things that you can't do with a closed concept. Thought, I will agree that it is kind of sad that no game has ever really attempted to duplicate the sort of open level platforming that the Banjo games have. I read a while ago that Rare (or it could have been some other game company) is trying to make a "spiritual successor" to Banjo Kazooie. In other words, they want to make a game with that sort of open level platforming. I haven't heard anything about it in a long time. Let's just hope it ends up happening and it ends up being added to the list of more recent platforming game classic. And, if you haven't played those games, then you totally should.
Agreed. You don't see games like this anymore.. which is a real shame. I really liked wondering about in the games and collecting things. Nowadays it's just shooting angry birds and killing people without any reason.. :/ Urgh.
TheDisarminghinkle What about "A Hate in Time?" It's a 3D Indie game that's a collectathon like Banjo Kazooie. Plus, the music is being composed by Grant Kirkhope.
I have a funny story, I used to play this level all the time, and it got to the point that I got my mom hooked to this song so much, she would subconsiously hum it every single day, she would even hum it to my niece and nephew for them to sleep, it kept making me chuckle at it all the time
i grew up with thi sgame when i was like 7! i love it sooooooo much! thanks fot having the themes from one of the best Nintendo 64 games ever made. 5 stars!
Glitter Gulch Mine's theme has been stuck in my head every day for what seems like 3 years now. I've stopped listening to music in the car because I'm overtly inclined to sing this ol' ditty. There's nothing like it.
Glitter Gulch Mine was always one of my favorite levels, I've always been appreciative of the fictional arts, But wish I could have been more appreciative of *real things* as a kid. Alas, I was a moron and am now little more than a fool.
NNNOOOO!!!!! dont say that!....every game they ever touched was gold, pure gold!!!so much nostalgia i could just cry....remember when everybody got their own spin off from diddy kong racing?,those were the days brohan...a time before everybody grew up playing call of duty and halo and all that evil witchcraft voodoo sorcery scientology pentagram drawing sun worshipping harry potter stuff
I initially couldn't find the similarities either, but if you listen to 0:45-1:00 on this track, and check out roughty 1:00-1:12 on the click clock wood track (search spring click clock wood on youtube) you can see the similarities quite clearly.
Christmas of '98 and '2000 were made great for me because of Banjo Kazooie. I still have the player's guides and games from those days. I was eight-years-old when I first got my Nintendo 64 with Banjo Kazooie. While everyone was playing Ocarina of Time, I was on this.
I remember that multiplayer shooting game that came with Banjo Tooie... that shit was so fun. Putting mines around corners and laughing at everyones who dies from them. Back then I was 11 or 12, and my parents wouldn't let me have Goldeneye, so Banjo Tooie was my "Goldeneye". XD It was a damn good replacement though. Banjo Tooie not only had awesome single player but great multiplayer support for it's time.
These banjo kazooie/tooie soundtracks just makes me almost cry, both of how fond the memories of this time as a kid are to but also causeof how sad that that time is gone and the magic with it =(
Got this game for Christmas in 01, woulda have been 10 or 11. Remember sitting outside Wumba's hut listening to the music playing an air-banjo. God dammit this game was so bad ass.
Me and my best friend sat down to this game about 8 years ago and had a wale of a time. Now 8 years on me and the same friend sat down to my xbox360 and played this once again on the same games. Ah we both went back to the innocence that is childhood. Brings a tear to my eye.
Don't worry, you didn't come off as a "know-it-all", just someone who wanted to add some accurate information into a discussion that needed it. I really did appreciate the input, especially since it gave a more professional insight to the topic, something I couldn't have done myself. It's interesting to see the differences that ARE there, despite the similar sound of the two sections. And concerning your last observation... Yes. Yes they are. If only BK 3 had gone in a different direction...
I'm obviously going to download it too. Got the game though, but I heard rare were planning on online capability for the game. And yea the fact that every world in Tooie was somehow linked to eachother was just awesome. Every jiggy felt unique ;).
*Plays this world for the first time as a kid and enters Glitter Gulch Mine* *Sees cowboy hat at the beginning* Banjo- Hey Kazooie, check out this cool cowboy hat! Let's go pick it up and wear it! Kazooie- Banjo, I don't have a good feeling about this... Banjo- What's the worry? Do you think an enemy is going to pop out and try to get us, or something?!? *Gets closer to hat and almost picks it up...YEE-HAWWW!!!* *Epicjose jumps back 5 feet and has a near heart attack*
Banjo: Hey, Kazooie! A honeycomb! Let's get it! Kazooie: Banjo, can I ask you something? Banjo: Sure... Kazooie: Does this level and theme music make you feel like you belong here? Plus, your name's Banjo? Banjo: I'm named after an instrument? Cool! Kazooie: ...let's just get the honeycomb...
I figured it probably wasn't exactly the same thing, but it's good to know for sure from someone who knows what they're talking about. Thanks for the info.
This game is only 11 days older than me! I played Banjo Kazooie with my brother and Tooie with the same brother, my younger brother and my cousin. I love them. Screw Microsoft and X-Box!
+Rat The Rare that's "still in business" is a pathetic, hollowed out shell of its former self. A lot of the original team has gotten together to form Playtonic Games, working on the first TRUE sequel to Banjo (if only in spirit), entirely crowd-funded to prevent Microsoft coming in to fuck everything up.
@PD4FR Believe it or not, it was actually Rare who sold the rights to the company to Microsoft first. Nintendo only sold their rights because Microsoft had majority thanks to Rare selling off. If anything, it seemed that Rare didn't want to work for Nintendo any longer, which clearly was the wrong decision.
Yes, there is, it's called Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. It's not really 3 it takes place between Kazooie and Tooie but it's still a pure banjo kazooie game
Hey man, they ARE similar, so your point is still well taken (sans "near direct copy"). Also, I was not trying to be a know-it-all or anything, but I feel compelled to give out accurate info wrt things I am knowledgeable about lol. Anyway you look at it, this game (along with the first one), was a work of art on all levels (art direction, music, use of colors, original characters and powers). To be honest, I haven't seen anything quite like BK and BT since they came out. Those are special games!
haha i just started playing this game a few days ago. i played it so much, i picked up my guitar and picked this whole song, cause i spent so much time in that level. it's catchy...
Actually, he's partly right. While the majority of the song is clearly different, listen to 0:45 - 1:00. It is, without a doubt, a near direct copy of one of the melodies from Click Clock Wood. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as it still manages to sound fitting in this song, but I just wanted to clear things up a little.
Brings me back to the year 2000 when I was a ten-year-old. I miss those times. I love this game very much. The only thing in it that really weirded me out was where Mr Patch's blowhole was. I was too young to understand any of the other sexual innuendo back then.
This song makes you wanna grab a old cowboy hat put on some overalls get a banjo, and dance your ass off on the floor... I luv this song as a kid. :D I always put this on when I was doing my homework... and yes Gcube I agree YEE-DIDDLY DAM-HAWW!!!
Agreed. I think a lot of the hate towards the game is because of that. But the gameplay of SFA, in my opinion, is great, and I think that's what matters.
@KrazyKaz12 I know how you feel. The only difference is that I go the right way, think I'm going the wrong way, turn around and continue until I reach the far side, then get mad because I can't find a warp point...
