👍🏼up #9....Bank fishn can be tough but keeping it simple and being willing to walk a bit to move around will get you bit.... as always really enjoyed it... heck even the bream fishn is fun.... great big ole flatty you caught....
Ha ha, perfect. I do a fair amount of bait fishing off my dock with kiddo poles. I find the Disney princess pole that lights up to be quite effective. Awesome video. I’m gonna be chasin cats tomorrow, caught me some baitfish tonight.
Nice flatty, when i bank fish i use stands like that. I had them when i carp fished. Ive seen too many rods go in the lake when people used sticks for stands or just proped them on a boat. Great video.🇺🇸
Awesome fishing. Those are some big cats. On 6/12 I caught 3 sail cats. I got horned cause he was thrashing so much. Got me in the leg to. Rob told me that salt water cats can be poisonous. Now I know why I see people stepping on them to take them off the hook. Me, of course had to do it the old fashion way. You can't step on on them in a yak. Lol. I was ok though. Thanks for sharing and thank you for all your support my friend.
Kimberly Sears you need to get you some fish grips they don't cost much , I grew up handling them but I love fish grips on my boat that way I don't even need a net
Biggest I ever saw was either 67 or 76lbs I can't remember anymore that was back when I was like 5 or 6 and the fish was bigger than me my grandpa and older cousin got him on a trotline
I started using 0/4 circles and moved up to 0/5 and 0/6 circles up here in PA for Channels.Pair of pliers and a twist of the hook has the point like on your 2 wide gaps.If they're biting I'm hooking them.Haven't lost any that bit. This coming summer I'll get some 0/7's and go an hour east for some Flatheads.
rider660r that's a good idea I just use the wide bends bank fishing cause I know they work lol , but I'm sure your method works great I'll try that . I grew up fishing the banks but I boat fish mostly now and I use 8/0 circle hooks for the most part
Bout all I do is bank fish.Been on a boat here like 10 times in my 47 yrs, hate the other boaters here. They're all vacationers that think they own the lake and the rules pertain to everyone but them,so I don't bother going out among the aholes. Did pick up a decent 12' semi V though this past fall, will be hitting some spots that's a long long walk into otherwise and the bigger boats with the aholes on can't get to.
Hey man just wanted you to know ive been using your trick and twisting my hooks, and I honestly don't know why I never tried it before cause it worked awesome man . I guess I thought bending em would weaken em some but the circle hooks are so dang thick it doesn't really matter much
Man those were some nice catches. Definitely good idea on changing up on the hooks. I bank fish most of the time, since we have a canal system in our area. My plastic boat was purchased for one lake that doesn't have much shore line. Good day out on the lake brotha!
Kirby's FishNGrill yes Sir thank you I hadn't been fish on the bank in years , I went down to a local carp catfish lake there's not many public access areas around here
Catfishbill 66 thank you brother it's just a little catfish / carp lake near the house , it rained for 2 weeks so I wanted to do some bank fishing have been in 10 years lol I appreciate you watching bro
That's the way to show em how it's done! Heck yeah you can catch big fish from the shore! The shore fishing spots are just limited in this age of "Posted, do not enter" signs everywhere. Great video buddy!
Casual Carolina Fishing you are right about that , the good spots are limit now a days , but I've really been wanting to do it is been 5 years or so since I catfished of the bank. Thank you for watching buddy as always we still got to go soon
Yes we do...if these dang thunder storms ever give us a break. I need to mow, but it's so dang wet and squishy I'd slide in the ditch and get my mower stuck. Been there done that, now I refuse to mow unless it's been a couple days since the last rain. Can't remember when we had 2 days in a row without rain though. It's been that long. lol
What great advice you give in that video! You don't need to break the bank to go and catch some good fish! Sweet catfish set up. I'll have to forward this to my nephew who loves to catfish. I probably need to do it myself. Tight lines from R & J Bass Fishing. Subbed up for more. P.S. Sweet editing! Loved the intro.
Thank you Sir , if there's any thing I can do to help you further let me know . Because that's what I love to do . Thank you for commenting and watching brother
Just looking through the vids! This looks like a lake 10 minutes from me. Near a fleamarket :)? I fished that lake many years ago when the lady had a dollar jar on the porch. It was a dollar to fish. It sure looks like it.
vinniesdayoff ok yeah I love catfish but most ppl now let the bigger ones go , because years ago they about fish out some good lakes keeping everything , I keep 10lbers when I do keep em I was just having fun this day
hey brother I forgot to tell you at the catfish conference that I made a video on how to make those rod holders , the reason I asked for your email was I was going to check and see what the shipping would be on some , but they are heavy , well not too bad but to ship they wouldn't be cheap
Maurice Cason hey Marice if your going to the CatCon again this year let me know , I didnt know I was going to run into you last year or I would have brought you some the whippings as high as the rod holders lol
Hell ya we fish down In Texas on dirty madina river all bank fish we have lot of walking and hill climbing but we pull 50+ pound Yellows and blues out of there!
Bryce Hickman you know all about it then , that's awesome bro I haven't been back fishing for a long time before this video but that's what I grew up doing to I fish from a boat or yak mist the time now
Fishin N Stuff I’m not gonna lie we do hit the yaks hard lately searching for holes to fish havent done to good past couple trips out dam gar are like crabs at the coast pick up every bait we put out there all 2 to 3 foot bait stealers! Keep the vids going always willing to learn something!!
I'm new to your channel and enjoy it very much?? Your a hell of a lot better looking than Cat Fish Dave but don't tell him I told you this because it will hurt his feelings!!!!!!!!
Question. The bobber on your line used for an alert. Do you remove it before cranking in the cat? A side note. My wife and I have a bait shop. I use dead minnows and live perch/bluegill. The dead minnows come from the tanks when we clean and do morning check upon opening. The perch are caught with my first fishing pole that came with a long deceased Zebco 202, 60 some odd years ago. I have a worthless Johnson on it now and use it much like a short flyrod to catch the supersize🙂 bait fish like you were catching and using. I find the bluegill are more active than the green perch and catch more cats.
That's true but Catfish Dave fishers the Tennessee River which is a Catfish Gold mine , every one doesn't have it that easy or each State wouldn't have they're own fish records , as far as that gos every single Lake and river has there own records . Catfish Dave's fish ate about half the size of the Tennessee Rivers record size , you should look it up
I'm not sure what you are saying the world record isn't from Tennessee and he has landed fish over 100 pounds. I live in Ohio I fish the Ohio River I fish from the bank and have landed fish 70+ plus pounds click my profile.
just cuz you fish the Tennessee River or the Ohio River where the Mississippi River doesn't mean you're going to catch big fish you have to do. there's plenty of people who fish the Tennessee River from a boat who do not catch a big fish catfish Dave. he'll there's people who fix the Ohio River from a boat who don't catch is bigger fish is me from the bank!
That's true too some ppl dont know how too , but all I'm saying is , if the biggest fish in a lake is 30lbs then not many ppls going too catch a 30lber in that lake . Watch some catfish tournaments held on the Tennessee river and look at all the 50 and 60 plus lb fish that get weight in . In one day your average lake that never happens. Tennessee has a very fertile river for catfish and striper. That's why SeaArk has they're tournament there every year
I use a heavy action rod fishing of the back but I use a med heavy on my boat , i like heavier action rods back fishing because I can get more distance when I cast . I was using 20lb test Suffix tritanium , mainly because I'm a big fan of copolymer fshing line , nothing wrong with mono but copolymer had a smaller diameter and is very strong
Rippin Lips rods are pretty nice for $40 couple bucks.I have a M/L with a Diawa 4500 Emcast spinning and 2 M/H Quantum Iron IR3WL casting. The M/H are more than enough for big Channels. The M/L is about perfect and I plan on getting 2 M/L casters later this year with some Shimano 401A Cardiff's. I've just recently been trying out some Hercules 30lb braid to test it for some Flatheads this coming summer, used 20lb Fireline all the time before that with 0/4,0/5,and 0/6 Gamakatsu's with 0/5's being the most used.Good deal on Amazon 25 for $12.
Fishing With Vance I guess they are a NC thing man they are what the local carp fisherman use , they sell em at more of the bait and tackle stores around here
For flathead I just use a 7 or 8/0 circle hook , and i take some needle nose pliers and put a little more offset in the hook , and i use a 1 to 2oz sinker depending on the amount of current . Maybe a 2 or 3 foot leader and 20lb test copolymer line , bit if I'm trolling i use a no snag weight and a line rattle with a float on my leader
There were big catfish around my area before I ever tried too catch one sometimes its just good to try . There might be one where you fish and no one knows it lol . I've got a catfish bait video that's helpful
There it is , who know what's swimming around lol . But big catfish don't really eat what small ones doi ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jP1wEqqzo4M.html
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JFHvpsescxI.html there's the Link brother , I appreciate you watching and commenting if you have any ideas you would like to see me do a DIY on let me know
Blues channels and flatheads will eat anything . Flatheads tend to be the pickiest eaters wanting live bait more but they will all eat live or cut bait if they are hungry . Too them it's a free meal
That was a blue catfish look at the anal fin it's square that's how you tell a blue channel cats have rounded anal fins ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nN5IueY0M2M.html That's a video of another blue I caught a few weeks a good
The White Trash Jedi all catfish eat live fish , as catfish get bigger they'll eat chicken livers , shrimp and such , but it get much more difficult when the get over the 15 too 20lb range , then its easier to catch em with live or cut bait
It would have worked better , they make off set circle hooks too but a wide bent works really good for back fishing it's thinner and the shape of it makes it hook up better , but circle hooks are great too , the wide bend hooks are more old school but hey I'm old lol , only difference is you jerk with a wide bend but with the circle hook you need to let the rod load up
Hahaha thank you bro , you subscribe and keep watching and I'll never use it again lol . Besides that videos a year old I was learning lol . Problem on RU-vid is you have to use non copy write music
Tony Stonebraker they sell em a lot of places in North Carolina , they are kinda heavy not to bad but the shipping might be high , maybe I could do a Diy on em but most ppl don't weld
Quality tips. Always like to see big ones come in from the bank. Hitting the sub button and would appreciate it if you could check out my channel. Either way, keep on fishing and filming.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JFHvpsescxI.html I made em , I also made a DIY video of how to do it that's the link , thank you for watching brother
You think that they would keep em fed at a Pay Lake. We have one for supposed Huge bass, but the water seems like its oxygen deprived in my opinion, rater go to a public lake after the one and only time going to this place! Maybe about 10 acres total in size! Kinda bummed me out going there! Still enjoyed your video though! Chris
The rods I used in that video were telescopic bass pro shop brand rods , I think they stopped making em but im not sure . I can tell you a rod close to it I really like though . It's a catfish rod . It's a heavy action whisker seeker rod . I normally don't like heavy action riffs but the Whisper seekers medium heavys are a little too goodly for me
Thats cool there maybe an echo in my building , I appreciate you watching and I appreciate the thumbs down too on RU-vid a thumbs down is still considered engagement 😁👍👍👍👍👍👍
