In today's viDEBO I found success with a Zoom fluke! This is a simple and easy way for beginners to catch bass. The fluke works great when fish are shallow and spooked by larger moving baits. I'll discuss the combo, tactics, and lessons learned at the end of the video!

If you’re having problems with hookups on the fluke, switch to either an offset hook or my personal choice, which is nose hooked on a wacky or drop shot hook. I used to use wide gap hooks but missed a lot of fish, and a guide told me to switch and it’s been great hookups since.

I use the Pearl White split tail Fluke from Zoom. Weight less 3/0 EWG hook. Green Pumpkin is a great color too. Debo's Dink's all day long. What fun! Shawn.

It's been warm here in Chattanooga but it's seems like all the bass have left Lake Chickamauga and the TN river. I've thrown everything from spinner bait to ned rig and been skunked last few times I've been out.

Personally not a huge fan of the vega frog. Ive always had more luck on the smaller frogs. Not saying its a bad frog i just havent had much luck on it

Do you use a weightless fluke or do use a Texas rig with lighter weight. I’m new to bass fishing only use spinning reel and trying to learn to use frogs and flukes on it.

Carefully make a long cast, pull out a few more yards of line, put a small piece of electrical tape across the spool then reel in over it tightly to seat it good.. no more deep backlashes. Great for teaching the wife and new spooled line..

After hearing you say so many times that you don’t like using zoom flukes cause they get bent easily, I was surprised to find this video. No hate just yanking your chain lol flukes are so underrated, once it gets warmer up there keep it weightless and use a walk the dog action for topwater bites

Those were BRAND NEW! It's not that I don't like flukes...I just don't like how they get all kinked. So I tend to just use a stick worm instead 💁‍♂️🤣

@@DEBOSFishing that’s true! They’re the worst if you have them crammed with a bunch of other baits in a tackle bag. I think it just gives them a more erratic action, if not, then it’s a different action. Same here I’ve even cut the tails of stick baits to give them forked tails and worked them just like a fluke

It feels great to get that first frog fish under your belt. That was really cool of the Dizzle to loan you his GoPro. It's not often when fishing to limit the motion as much as possible, but that was the ticket with the Flukes that day.

@@synaptik111 use a centering pin (hitchhikers) if you have them, you can use a paper hole cutter on a milk container to make little plastic keepers to put on the hook so your lure stays on...way better hook ups than a ewg hook and fairly weedless too

I'd definitely say go with a standard EWG hook. A weighted hook messes up the action. I wouldn't use a belly weighted hook unless you absolutely need to get deeper

4/0 ewg is my preferred hook. Those spearpoints he was using are amazing. I also use them as chatter bait trailers. Just my favorite uses of them. As he said, no weight is best. That slow fall is deadly, and working it like a jerk bait KILLS in the summer
