@@alanc457 The chancellor has no power to raise and lower interest rates. Why should he/she? I dom't wish the chancellor of the exchequor to do it. If interest rates rise it will be because the governor of the Bank of England raised them. All the different countries central banks around the world each set their own countries interest rates.
@@robertj5695 Intetest rates were alwsys below 10% under the Lsbour government 1997 to 2010, far better than Thstcher and Major. Don't go blaming the late 1970's labour government for interest rstes being higher into the 1990's when Major was PM than throughout the 1997 to 2010 labour government, nor for black Wednesday and the recession in 1992. A lot of bad economic figures havr been worse unxer tye tories (and often getting worse) thsn labour bad economic figures. 10 recessions under the tories and only 4 recessions under labour since the mid 1950's so there's certainly not been considerably more percentage of time in government under labour in recession than there has been under the tories. Forecasting a perpetual recession under labour now during a time of sustsined strong global economic growth would be ridiculous. When bas tge UK ever been in a 5 year long recession under a labour government and the only country in the world in recession.
Give over it was there stupid budget that truss came up with supported by nigel farage caused this in the first place and his daft brexit . seems the markets trust labours stability the tories said it wouldnt change but o look its gone down now labours led by people who actualy have proper degrees in economics and law instead of the micky mouse ones the torys have . 6:31
@Silver-st2zq Information was given to the shadow vice Chancellor at the time leading up to the election. It's not good, but shouldn't be used by Labour as any excuse to raise some taxes and benefits.
Inflation stayed low from 1997 to 2010 when labour were previously in government. Inflation was lower on general electiion days in 1970 ano 1979 than it was on general election day in 1974. And inflation was higher within a year of the 1979 general election. To prove even in the past that inflation was often higher under a tory government
Amusing to see finger pointing Tory Clots criticise others over stewardship of the economy after the disastrous series of misfits let loose by Brexit. I like that the city had to ‘moron premiums’ in the wake of the Loony Lettuce budget!
@@rishiyanvarsha UK currently has the equal 27th lowest inflation in the world right now according to the inflation tools website, and compared with the Eurozone inflation is higher here than in the Eurozone as well. And inflation's not less than 2% in the UK either.
