BANKS - TONY “T-Rex” CHOHAN and JAYSON “Eagle Eye” SHAW met in a Semi-Finals match at the 2022 Derby City Classic Bank Pool division. Chohan, 40, was best known for his one-pocket titles which demanded great banking skills. Shaw, 33, has proven his worth to be here by winning just about all of the other pool disciplines. Let’s see how they do at “9-Ball Bank Pool”.
Nick Varner joins Mark Wilson in the booth.

i've always said the same thing about cue weight. a heavier cue provides constant feedback. i've been using a 21 oz since i bought my first one back in '91. it practically swings itself and keeps the twitchy muscles at bay.

Dont think I could play that heavy but I have noticed that when I'm anxious, if I try to slow myself down then my adrenaline is too much and my arm shakes. Plenty of experience competing but it can be tough when you just never play anymore lol I think the rear extension helps keep the cue straight but I dont play with one currently

@@swamiward5625 i think most people have those kinds of issues when the pressure is on. my way to combat that is to always be as smooth as possible. since i learned how to really play, i've always been acknowledged as having a smooth stroke. the keys for me is to remain as loose as possible. that is accomplished by having a very light grip. it's not even really a grip... more like the cue just rests on my front two fingers and my thumb. this is where the heavy cue comes in. it just rests on my fingers. to get it to move without slipping requires a very loose wrist moving in combination with the pivot of my elbow. i'm a feel player and that provides so much feel. i can also immediately sense when i'm getting tight, and that's when i focus on keeping my grip light and the wrist loose. it can't really be done without a heavy cue. i recommend just grabbing the heaviest house cue you can find and giving it a try along with the coke bottle drill. stroke smooth without hitting the edge of the bottle and you're good to go.

@@swamiward5625 You'd be surprised how light a 21oz cue feels after using it for awhile. Been playing with one for over 20 years. And it's 64" long

@@alexandersupertramp7353 I'm using a Mezz cue with cue extension, EXCEED X-RING UNITED JOINT. total wt. 23.75oz's It changed my whole game! I'm glad I did it.

@@Scott-px6mi I never saw myself playing with such a heavy cue. Although I don't play anymore, it completely changed my game and who I was as a player. I quit playing by choice, to get back into nature. But still enjoy watching, and helping younger players when I see them. Enjoy!

Man... the standard of play in this match is simply phenomenal. Banks as an art.
@lordmaximus4602
@lordmaximus4602 9 месяцев назад
It is, but it isn't a real art when the pockets are very loose buckets. I play banks on a snooker table with regular sized balls, so only 1 fits in a pocket and those shelves so deep on a Brunswick snooker given how tight. These guys aren't doing nothing special or hard lol . To me this is amateur hour banks. If they really pros should be a snooker table. Even Nick Varner commented how loose the table is

Standard Diamond tables with a fresh cloth will slide a lot in. I bought my own pool table a few months back and had it freshly refelted, everything was fallen for a month haha

Anyone notice Jayson's shaft, its thinner about 3 inches from the tip but the tip is fatter. Interesting. Hes on CF now but definitely something I haven't seen.

why does this table look small..? Like 4x8 ... is it just the angle..? I mean, I've played at the DCC and know it's all on 4.5x9 -- but they just look small.

Well given the current level of play of banks is so low, most don't even play position, only a few pros recently. But you could play safeties after missing a bank but that's a level of play yet to be seen

If they call that Bank pool.... Why not bank on the brake too???
@robdetuinman2
@robdetuinman2 2 года назад
A bank must be clean, IAW can't hit or touch any other ball with the object ball. If you do you loose your turn. With the break the object ball is always touching other balls.

@5:08 Can't believe 'professionals' playing banks on such a loose table with buckets for pockets. When i play banks and i ever hit a rail instead of a pocket direct, its not going in. These 'pros' can fit 2 balls in those pockets at once. I bank on a snooker table. They not as good as me. I'll have to take all their money next year at DCC

Go do it then, and see how demolished you will get. Snooker players always think they can go into pool events and win it all, just to get white washed is hilarious.

@5:29 jeez Jeremy .. you dont know nothing about bank pool. Thanks for showing us with your words 🤦🏿 See how Nick just said yeah all disappoitedly and sad lol. That technique is for jeremy stroke. Speed changes if it goes long or short, but a real banker knows how to aim for both 1mph bank or 50mph bank. Jeremy not a banker at all

In my opinion, bank shots are eventually a great percentage fluke, especially some difficult short bank shots and long rail bank shots. Bank pool should not be considered a game of skill but a game of luck. Then Bank pool should be rewarded on the basis of the luckiness of the player than his skill. On the other hand, Bank pool could be considered the boredom antipodes of the Carom billiards free game.
@KikaKunt
@KikaKunt Год назад
I disagree. To master banks is extremely skillful. Takes more skill to bank than to just shoot the ball straight in.
@danieljohnson9081

Huh? If you're playing on equipment like they are you don't have to guess about anything. In case you're not a pool player or just not a good one those little dots on the rail are there for a reason 🤣 I understand it's your opinion but damn dude to say banking a ball is just calculated variance is wildly ridiculous 😂
@robdetuinman2
@robdetuinman2 Год назад
@Tonychar47 Hey its your opinion lol but what about the first 5 balls im a row that Jayson banked @4:51? Just for all those to be flukes would be one in a million. Of course it is skill or any pool newbie (like you) could just do the same thing. And you don't
