MY BIRTHDAY PIECE.
I choreographed this piece for my birthday & it truly means so much to me. Scorpios are the signs of transformation.. consistently being reborn into our higher self; learning from experiences and truly feeling our emotions at a deep level. The sweater in this piece represents the ego. The negative part of my brain that is always trying to tell me what I’m doing wrong &/or what I should be doing instead of what I FEEL like doing. I can truly say this last year was the first year in my life where I truly learned how to control that inner negative voice. It was the first year where I could look at that voice and tell it to go🖕🏽itself. In the beginning the sweater/ego is heavy on me, I’m trapped in it; telling me who I should be. As the piece goes on I show more and more of who I am truly and expressing that. I am beautiful and talented and creative in my OWN way, even if others don’t agree. I can be free from this negative voice & live in my authenticity... we all can. Enjoy.

This piece literally gutted me. In the most beautiful way possible. Nicole you are absolutely incredible. This is giving me serious Mia Michaels vibes and I only say that because her ability to tell a story is also absolutely insane. I love watching your work evolve and seeing more of YOU in each piece. I came back to this after watching The Crown and Raise Your Weapon. Your growth is so evident. Keep fucking growing!

Nicole!!!!! I’ve said it once but I’ll keep saying it. You are taking heel choreography to the next level!! First off the prop of the sweater layers is just genius. Never have I ever seen someone use sweaters in this way before. The way you pour your heart and soul into emotional pieces like this is really captivating. 💙I can’t wait to take your heels class. I’ve finally done your HipHop but an emotional heels class by you is my goal before the year ends!

Keeping it real, I don't typically love the overly emotive choreo. Just not my fave. But this --💥🧡-- this was so distinct & raw & beautiful... like I felt their wasn't an unauthentic move or moment in the entire piece. Nicole, you danced it so beautifully. Deanna & the black, male dancer -- WOW. Could seriously go on about so many dancers, but this would be WAY too long. 🙌🏼🥰
