When Banks engineers set out to design a Ram-Air intake for the 2017-19 Ford 6.7L Super Duty, they had one seemingly impossible challenge: to achieve higher air density at the turbo inlet than all competitors while keeping the airbox in the stock location behind the battery.
As Power Stroke owners know, the battery is located near the front corner of the engine bay. This means air must pass above and/or below the battery to the airbox behind it. S&B chose to relocate the battery by having the customer attach a piece of supplied angle-iron to the thin firewall, cantilevering it over the engine. In our opinion, the battery is much too heavy and poses a danger if it were to break loose and fall. After all, many trucks see off-road conditions.
These requirements would set our Mechanical Engineering team on a year-long mission of design, research and development, and on and off-road testing.
The Banks Ram-Air out-flows and out-performs aFe and S&B with a 49% gain in MAF on the flow bench, and a 40% gain in intake air density when measured in real-world drive testing where temperature and humidity become involved. And best of all, it's 50-state emissions compliant. CARB E.O. D-161-132

I'd be interested in the numbers between the banks intake for the truck with the battery in front and the banks in the new trucks with the battery behind. Obviously Ford felt the need to correct the battery location.

Where are the dyno tests for all of these, I would like to see if any of them actually change the HP and TQ numbers for the trucks. I thought I saw something in Diesel Power Magazine years ago when the S&B came out and it made like 2 or 3 Hp but it did appear to change the Tq curve to make more on the lower end.

I was thinking about buying one of these for my 2017 F250. I am concerned with that opening at the bottom of that box,. If it would bring dust and water to get into it and possibly damage the turbo or motor? I’m not big on off-road, but I do go down dirt roads every now and then with my truck.

Yeah, you might fit that air filter to the boxes. And then banks discontinues and then you're screwed. Think about it, folks, that's the boat. I'm in with the sidewander 1986 F250 6.9 idi airbox.

Could have did something different with the bolt the holds the top on under the intake tube kind of a pain to get too.

Just installed the kit and now when I start my truck it idles at 1200 rpm and after about 45 seconds goes down to normal is there something I can do to fix this

Love how you tested yours at the highest vacuum pressure and every other intake was texted at a lower vacuum pressure. Out here praying on peoples ignorance I’m sure this thing is a little better than factory but goddamn look at your your numbers. your testing variations are all over the place.

Hey banks power I recently ordered a pedal monster with the idash and windshields holder which all together was just over 600 bucks and have yet to receive it. I have sent customer service emails and have called numerous times only to be told that inventory had to be done before my items could ship out. Can you please just let me know when I will be receiving my items please.

I’m in the same boat, something about programming pedal monsters at another shop in town. 3 weeks still waiting. I’m giving it till Wednesday next week to ship or I’m cancelling. I really only want the idash anyway and you can get those pretty much anywhere.

@@cjwright1960 I don't get it. I call and they tell me it's gonna ship and we will send you the tracking. Other times I'm on hold for 30 minutes then just give up. They had no problem taking the money though

@@anthonypendleton957 yes Sir I agree, they should hold payment data until they can fulfill the order, now I have $680 tied up at banks and don’t want to place another order until I get my refund for this one. Same thing happened at Thoroughbred with another order and the day I cancelled the order, bought the product from SDHQ, they shipped it and I ended up with 2 cold air intakes. So get an RMA, drive to UPS. Super frustrating.
