Early into my first campaign, I saw a small party with an absurd amount of prisoners. I was feeling bold, so I attacked. I won, and when I got to recruit the prisoners, most weren't anything worth mentioning, aside from about 20 Triari. I had no idea where these came from, but they looked cool, so I adopted them all immediately. With most of my army at the time being low ranking sturgian troops, bandits, and the like, the 20 Triari immediately made a huge impact on my size 70 or so army. Where a battle would previously be a struggle, my new elite troops pulled through with ease. I wanted to recruit more of them, but no empire town ever seemed to have any available. Their numbers dwindled slowly over time, until just a handful remained. I had never sworn myself to any kingdom, as I wanted to be my own ruler one day, and when the time came that I finally mustered the strength and courage to siege my first town, I succeeded, but the last of my Triari had fallen in the battle. I named my kingdom after them, having saved them from slavery, not expecting to have them repay their debt tenfold. I eventually learned where they actually come from, and was sad that openly recruiting them wasn't an option ;(
Wolfskins and the legion of the betrayed are my favorites. I always like when I can see the triarii on the battlefield they are amazing and be honest who don't like warriors with wolf pelt on then
Also of note is that there's a removed faction hidden in the game's files: Removed Imperial Clan - Guardians (Guardians of the Hills), Description: "The Watchers are frontiersmen in the northwest of the Empire. They are used to working with the local nobility, specializing in scouting and tracking. But as the Empire descended into civil war, they have begun asserting power in the areas in which they live, becoming a law unto themselves and taking what they want from surrounding villages. They still will cooperate with imperial marcher noble families, but on their terms, not the Empire's."
Talesworlds these minor factions sound amazing, but please add more content to them! Let me talk to one of their lords and hire from them! Let me join them! Let them take over castles and towns and become major factions! There are lots of things that could be done to make them so much more interesting!
If not a whole Fife, their occupying towns without outright sacking them could be a thing. And if you execute a leader of the Lake Rats, most would cheer for you...
Some of the minor factions are: •veteran’s day parade •literally just the state of Haiti •bedouins •mongol countryside •the order of the Assassins •viking warrior monks(?) •Rhodoks •Robin Hood and his merry men •Sauron’s Illuminatii •Louisiana people •the Irresponsible Agriculture Squad •Furries •self-enslavement(Hey isnt that Golden Company from GoT?)
The Jawwal in my current world are under the Empire, which is very surprising cause me being an Aserai, I've nearly eliminated the entire Empire. So the fact that there's Aserai factions working for the dying Empire, is shocking.
I wish there were more to the minor factions than just flavour text, like being able to recruit individual troops instead of the entire clan; being able to join the faction, even if temporarily; being able to select them as your starting culture. As to my favourites, I have to go with the Karakhergits. These guys go way, way back in MnB's lore, being a bandit faction back in the earliest version of Mount and Blade classic. The Digital Companion also paints them as pretty cool. Other factions, I don't care much for. I guess the Elephteroi (or however you spell it) are interesting, and under the right mood, the Legion and Skoldebrodva could also play out pretty nicely, but otherwise, that's about it.
*Eleftheroi moves into steppe and Imperial borders* *Start to live and fight as the Khuzaits* *Khuzaits move into the Calradic steppes and start to live and fight as Imperials* Monchug is fuming right now...
ya that would be dope if you could join beni zelal and learn "the secret" or join the wolfskins and they give you some kind of wolf helmet as initiation. or just something cool. they could do so much more with this game. but who are we to complain. not like were helping them develop the entire game with $45 bucks
Let's remember that bannerlord it's still an early access, yes it has been in early access/development for almost a decade now, but there's still an slight piece of hope that bannerlord could become Warband 2.0
Definetly the brotherhood of the woods. Despite their tactics they are the only minor faction that seems to genuinely care for the impoverished masses and they are rebelling against the valandian monarchy which is good enough in itself
Personally I love the Embers of the Flame and the Wolfskins. They originally weren't just bandits or mercenaries and had some way of life or major goal they wanted to achieve. The embers are waiting for literal fire Jesus and the wolfskins are a battanian warrior society which live like wolves.
Damn man this is so cool. I didnt know there were this many and that they actually had decent background stories. I wish you could join them. I'd love to join one of the mercenary groups, even if they make a slave out of me.
Legion of Betrayed: Throwback to republic era roman troops, in reference to traditionalist factions in the major roman civil wars that saw the transition from republic to empire (think supporters of Pompei Magnus) Hidden Hand: Nod to ancient “mafia” types in Rome Eleftheroi: Self explanatory nomadic auxilia, free people’s not bound by feudal ties, servitude or or slavery typically in reference to groups within the roman empire Embers of the Flame: Cult of Mithras, an underground cult in the early roman empire before the widespread adoption of christianity which saw its decline, the cult was mysterious, had sacrificial rituals and symbolic imitation questions. Wolfskins: Celtic/Germanic fanatic pagan warriors, berserker types Skolderbrovta: Based on Jomsvikings, Baltic-Nordic mercenary viking conquerors who are historically seen as a foreshadowing to later christian and chivalric military orders such as the templars Lake Rats: Slavic-Nordic raiders, two cultures seen fused in both bannerlord and warband, based off of Baltic-Nordic shipwrecking in history, and historical customs in which ship wrecking, slavery and looting were allowed within ones territory against outsider ships Forest People: Representation of semi nomadic Finnish-Ugric tribes and their relationship with Rus Boyars Jawwal: Early Arab Nomadic traditionalists, roaming adventurer types, based off Bedouins. Ghilman: Akin to Mamelukes, Ghilman actually existed in history as slave soldiers and mercenaries in early the Islamic world. Beni Zilal: Early Arab mystic pagans, possibly “soothsayers”, influenced by mythical Djinn creatures, they were seen as fortune tellers/clairvoyants. Brotherhood of the woods: British Merrymen types, middle class (Yeoman) house servants who filled heroic archetypes in literature Company of the Golden Boar: Reference to Northwest/ Central european mercenary groups (free companies), the boar is usually a sign of France (Norman conquerors) although there is also reference to Italian and Catalan free companies who acted independent of government and would turn to banditry when not serving as mercenaries. Karakhergit: Independent nomadic traditionalists seemingly inspired by the story of Ghengis Khan, who created his own empire independent of pre-existing powers and eventually overtaking their rule and land
The way the factions are talked about makes me think I am watching a mod for skyrim about added factions you can join. Like the thieves guild, dark brotherhood and ect with their own questline for each.
The Jawwal Units in-game have names like "Jawwal Bedouin" as well, and their official description in the game describes them as "The Jawwal, or 'Roamers,' are the main bedouin confederacy in the Nahasa desert", so I imagine he's just using the in-game terminology. The game already uses a lot of real-world historical terms and words for its cultures and units, like the Khuzaits fielding Keshigs (actual name for the Royal Guard of Mongolian Khans), Battanian Fians (based on the Irish Fianna of Celtic Mythology) and Sturgian Varyag (literally the origin of the word Varangian, meaning the Viking peoples of modern-day Russia)
@@JagoPulastra Yeah I get that, I just found it very strange. I understand all these other historical use of the terms, since they're mostly historical and not used as a term for an entire culture. Like, keshigs and varyags are immediately understood to be a military unit, and the fians are as such too. But the use of Bedouin felt kinda off, since Bedouins are an actual people haha.
i Chopped the head of the jawwal members they had becomen mercanaries of sturgia and i was a vassal of khuzait and i was in war with sturgia and they were in a sturgian army of 980 men Vs My army of 400 men
I think Bannerlord would be alot more fun if the player could join any of these mercenary groups become a leader of it or befriend and ask them to join their clan or kingdom as lords. Would also be cool if serve as soldier mod worked with mercenary groups and the players clan was interchangeable with other houses and clans. would also be cool if the Mod Fourberie worked in such a way where the mercenary clans actually had bases of operations to call a home and where villages could have a tavern like towns and minature towns that had walls. but very unlikely from the Devs. thank god for the modding community though. I'm still annoyed at the Devs for teasing Elephants two years ago and still no sign.
some benizilal dude tried jumping me so I politely told him it was a bad idea and he didn’t listen so I executed his ass after capturing him, now he really watching from the shadows and telling no secrets lol
Sort of! I just don't have time for new videos at the moment, unfortunately. Had a huge video project with over 500 hours invested that I scrapped, would like to revisit it someday. I occasionally work on the Life in Calradia mod as well. You can usually find me around the mod Discord, I don't post very much on RU-vid anymore lol
Sorry for the very late reply! The most simple answer is that I've been extremely busy with IRL work and moving houses, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to return to the channel in the coming months. I've already spent at least 200 hours on the next video, so hopefully when I do come back it's going to be with something far surpassing the quality of work that I've released so far!
Thanks for watching the video! I just want to quickly give an update to those who watch my weekly top 10 mods videos. Unfortunately, I’ll no longer be making those videos due to a lack of mods for such frequent videos. However, I’ll still be continuing to make videos, but expect quite a bit of a delay before I have my next video posted. I have a few big projects working in the background, so I plan to have lots of good content for you all in the future! Also, if you're interested I have listed a mod relating to minor factions in the description, I highly recommend checking it out if you want easier ways to recruit minor faction troops! --- Much further into the future edit here: Unfortunately, I've been busy with starting a new career and haven't had the same time for RU-vid that was available to me back in 2020/2021. I hope to eventually return, but there's a very good chance that I just won't be able to find the time. If you don't hear from me again, I wish you all the best of luck in life!
Tbh, i hate and love them all. You cant count on any of them when shtf however, easy big army loot when they betray you 🤷 just starting to get hard to find traders that can actually pay for the loot... I need comstant war to pay for security against bandits... I feel like thats an inbalance that needs fixing. No amount of towns supply enough money to keep a working army to keep towns safem
Check out game called Gloria Victis :) its coming out in few days on Steam (full game) - it has the same combat system as Bannerlord but is medieval MMO :D
Fuck i am too late but i love Kara Kuzayits. Kara often means low born in the old Turkish, shows that they are not from a family with "Kut"(Right to rule given by god, taken by showing strength.). More over Seljuks and Ottomans had similiar issues with their nomadic brethren, the fact that they included this relation between sedentary and nomadic people is amazing.
@¡ᒷᔑꖌ𒈙𒐫꧍𒈙𒐫¡ᒷᔑꖌ𒈙꧄𒈙I𒈙𒈙ꧥ𒈙L𒈙ᔑᒷᔑꖌ ꧍𒈙𒐫¡ᒷᔑꖌ𒈙꧄𒈙I𒈙𒈙ꧥ𒈙L yeah primary usage of the word means black in Turkish too. But its like a side meaning. As far as i know the Mongolians too used colors to indicate status, as "ak" means nobles, "kara" means common people. Well atleast it was the case in Golden Horde.
would be cool if karakhuzaits protected the border of khuzaits instead of being hostile towards it. Its the only army apart from aserai that I lose my big boi khans guards in battles
