Just thinking that if in bannerlord you can have children then all you need to do is marry the princess and have a child then your child has a claim to the empire after you kill the princess, who says you cant play ck2 in this 😂

You forgot the most important Faction: "And the newest Faction is the "SmokeWeed69" lead by "Lord DiqWard" who hasn't done anything for 40 years, only to kill thousands of looters within a year, only to rise up as a general and suddenly and without warning breaking off from the faction, recruiting lords and now rules over half of the continent at the ripe old age of 42."
Or the faction that did half of that until they were overrun and the leader was held as slave for an entire year and just now got released, ONLY TO GET CAUGHT BY ANOTHER ENEMY WHO JUST DECLARED WAR AS SOON AS I GOT FREE.... this game is out to get me.
Random Lord: What is your name? Me: My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor HARLAUS!
I'm currently playing a Maximus playthrough!! Limiting myself to tournaments till I'm champion. Then siding with the Western empire for world domination
lore: "The empire wouldn't dare to send their legions and be cut off from their own supply lines" game: rhagaea rushes directly into the desert, proceeds to lose her original territory to Garios, Monchug then bomb rushes most of the eastern half the continent and she ends up running a cityless empire while sadly pacing between Lycaron and Vostrum.
In my game Rhagea has taken half of the aserai in the first 3 weeks of the game. The vlandians bypassed the battanians and took the the eastern portion of the northen empire in just a few weeks while at the same time overwhelming the eastern empire. The battanians are fighting the sturgians and the sturgians are fighting everybody except monchug's boys. And monchug apparently got lazy and his hordes are just sitting pretty at his borders. Hahaha. The Vlandians are so OP in my game, they are steam rolling everyone.
I've recently started playing and after aboit 3 weeks of game the South warred with the khuzites and the war is still going 3 years into the game. No one else has attacked us except aserai but we keep stopping them in their tracks. The khuzites are brutal but when you just go after their cities and castles they loose their horse advantage and become much easier. I found that out 2 years into the war with them

@@kyrieeleison9599 All the names sound slightly different from their Warband versions (Pravend -> Praven, Ocs Hall -> Uxhal, Jaculan -> Jelkala, Galend -> Yalen, etc.). Though the map has also been shifted around a good deal--playing the game, Sargot is a lot further south than Sargoth in Warband, and Ocs Hall is further west than Uxhal.
Terry Pennington In my point of view , Sturgians are more Nords (sadly for me) There is some Slavic-Sarmatian elementa..like city Balgrad and other, but banners and names and elites are Nords imo. I like Nordic coulture, but i consider myself Sarmatian origin and this is why i dont like game. Bigest etnic population is not presented in game. Maybe i could go Khergit faction, i dont know... Preety disapointed for Vaegir miss..
The factions in Warband are all descended from these factions. The Vlandians led to the Swadians and the Rhodoks. The Sturgians became the Vagiers. The Nords I think are a subfaction within Sturgia, plus some from the Vlandians. The Khergits and the Sarranids are are just the respective Bannerlord factions, ruled by different houses. I heard that the houses from Warband are going to be sub factions in Bannerlord.
What I like about this fictional lore is that it seems so much more accurate to a real life medieval situation rather than just any other fictional story like Skyrim or others, bannerlord just seems so much more accurate.
It seems accurate to real life because it is. The situation here is pretty clearly based off the Roman Empire and its neighbours in the High Medieval Era. The Empire is the Roman Empire. Battania are the Rus. Vlandia are the Normans. The Sultanate are the Islamic Caliphates. The Khanate are the Avars, Mongols, and various other Eurasian nomads. Battania is bit of an exception as they're probably based off Britannia.
I like how the factions in bannerlord really drive home the fact that none of the factions in the original game had any real historical claim to calradia Nords and Vaegirs were Sturgians Swadians and Rhodoks were Vlandian And obviously the sultanate was a sultanate and the khanate was a khanate
The faction lore just reinforces how similar the vlandians are to anglo saxons, red flag with golden lion (although that came with the normans), used as mercenaries by the empire, invaders from overseas taking land from the native battanians (celts) it fits so well
Yeah, all the factions are based off of historical ones. The Vlandians are Anglo-Saxons/Normans, the Battanians are Celts, the Imperial factions are the Byzantines, the Sturgians are the Norse/Rus, the Aserai are the Islamic Caliphates, and the Khuzaits are Mongols.
I kinda think of Vlandia as a mix of Anglo-Saxon and Franks. Anglo-Saxon for obvious reasons, but also Franks because the territory they control in Bannerlord is almost as big as the entire map of Warband (in terms of landmass) and they would go on to fracture into the rival kingdoms of Swadia, Rhodoks, and (to a degree) Nords. Much like how the Frankish Empire under Charlemenge eventually fractured into smaller kingdoms in real life.

This is your first video? It's superbly made and the best one to explain the lore of each faction thus far! You've earned yourself another subscriber, keep it up!
L0rd0fLight because the western Roman Empire, who’s capital was Rome was invaded and taken by barbarians. Similarly, the Vlandians have taken the western Calradian empire, who’s lands contained the old capital. The Vlandians are also based on the Normans, so we can assume they are based on the ones who invaded Italy
Sonderistic The Normans did not invade the Roman Empire, they didn’t even exist during that time. They settled in southern Italy several centuries after its fall. The Roman Empire fell because of internal controversies and bad politics and corruption that led to the invasion of a Germanic rebel army under the leadership of Odoacre. They were mercenaries that rebelled against their superiors basically.
Nameless Hero it’s Odoacer*, not Odoacre, I didn’t say that the normans invaded at that time, I’m saying that they have a similar story to the barbarians that invaded at the time. Given the fact that the Normans invaded Sicily later in history, and that the culture of the Vlandians is based on the Normans, we can assume that they are a mashup of the two.
@@sonderistic7664 I'd rather compare Vlandia to the Latin crusaders that briefly were mercenaries of the Byzantine Emperor against another claimant, but since he could not pay them, they took their pay by sacking Constantinople and establishing their own Kingdoms around the area. The Empire is clearly Byzantium since they have catapracts and such.
I'm having a dilemma; should I become a simp for the widow empress in the southern empire? or restore the glory of the empire through military might with the western empire? One thing is for sure. I'm already starting to feel the hate for the senate and those noblemen in the north.

@@pizzafacemcbride3582 Yeah, it's clear that devs pulled inspiration from a multitude of examples most obviously roman based ofcourse but it's possible some came from other parts as well. Basically, if we go by the world of the early 11th century, the empire is inspired by Byzantium, the Khuzait by Pechenegs/ Kipchaks/ Bulgars, the Aserai obviously stand for Iberian Berbers as well as Seljuq- Turks and Arabs, like the Fatimids, the Sturgians are basically Rus/Varangians, the Battanians may be Irish, Welsh and Highlanders (maybe even Bretons), but they look and have a culture like classical celts of the roman era like Gauls, Britons or Alpine Celts. Finally, Vlandia seems to be 'everything else' of europe, french, german, north italian, polish, english and so on, but if i'd need to specify them more, the closest to them in real life could be the french normans (the guys that conquered england and put all this french into the english language).
It's maybe for historical accuracy for language about how people that conquer place sometime pronounce that same name differently sometime change the writing of that name. Or sometime the writing system change on the country (this case of my country Indonesia back then when we wrote "u" inside word we wrote it with "oe" example name today "Sukarno" back then was like this "Soekarno".)
@@husnuvesaire7972 for example, my hometown is Kütahya, derivated from the Thracian commender's name capturing it for Roman Empire; Cotys. The original name of the city is Cotyaeum; which basicly means 'City of Cotys'.
Sturgia : the Scandinavian kingdoms mixed with Russian principalities Vlandia : Norman mercenaries in southern Italy who established the kingdom of Sicily The Empire : the Byzantine Empire Asrai : the fatimid caliphate Battania : a mix of Ireland and Britanny but from the late antiquity The kahnat : the golden hord Globally this word is from our 10th- 11th century with some features from the end of the Roman Empire and from the 12th and 13th century
Battania is from their weapons and fighting styles germanic and balkan tribes looking especially at the Rhomphaia wich was used by the Thracians in eastern Europe, or the Oathsworn which were germanic troops. The Nords from warband having the Huscarls represented Britanny
Sturgia is very much the Kievan Rus, essentially early Russians, Belarussians, and Ukrainians. They not only used all the armor depicted in-game, the Kievan Rus were also usually split into many different principalities, which is why the Sturgians have an aversion to monarchy.
@@plaidpvcpipe3792 Actually this Scandinavian-Slavic mix is not specific to Kievan Rus only. Polabian Slavs like the Veleti fit too. Especially the part about hating monarchy.
It is not a story the Democratic shills will tell you. It's an authoritarian legend. Julius Ceaser was a great man of the Romans, so powerful and so wise he could use the Senate to influence the minds of the people to create land reforms and armies. He had such a knowledge of how to manipulate people he could even keep the legions he created from dying. Charisma is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful the only thing he was afraid of losing was his power, which eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he told the Senate about all of his future ambitions and they killed him during a meeting. Ironic, he could save his legions from death, but not himself.
Julius Caesar, the Shakespeare play, is about a tyrant taking control of Rome by force and killing their Republic; senators tried to save it by assassinating him, but the moronic plebs only worship power. Read Act 3 and tell me it doesn’t sound like people you’ve probably met. Brutus was the most noble of all Romans, and his enemies even say this at the end of the play. Caesar turned an historic Greco-Roman republic into a fascist empire, which eventually consumed itself through endless war and strife. Death always to tyrants.
I believe this notion was no doubt inspired by the Polish-Lithuanian elective monarchy. Historically, the polish king (elected by the sejm) had no military power because the nobles always checked it, but he would speak for the kingdom diplomatically. Perhaps the sturgian king is weak militarily in Bannerlord? That would be interesting.
@@Ethan-zt7ky Alternatively it was inspired by early Slavic tribal organization (so called martial democracy), where warriors of the tribe elected a leader from amongst themselves (but only for the times od war). However, as the authority of said leader grew with consecutive wars, he would often use it to establish a de facto monarchy, though many decisions unrelated to war would still be made by a popular assembly of the members of the tribe. In this context it would propably mean that one prince had managed to gather enough fame and respect to vassalize most/all of the Sturgian tribes, but he is considered to be only their supreme commander (while he tries to make this post hereditary).
@@wojciechkowalski8061 I suppose that they are inspired by Kievan Rus rather than Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. To many similarities with Styrgians. Additionally it have more sense if we replace Empire with Byzantium en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kievan_Rus%27
It means monarchy in the imperial sense. You see a strict difference in monarchy between Roman/Latin Europe and other Europe (namely Germanic), who elected clan heads, tribe heads, and a head for confederations (of tribes) which you might call a king. Note that England is a mixed form, influenced by French Normans who installed parts of their system onto a Germanic (Anglosaxon) base. That's why it historically has a conflict between parliamentary power and royal power.
Roman Republic: "There shall never be a king of Rome again." also the Roman Republic: "You've consolidated all power into one person, but refuse to be called a king? I'm in Augustus lets go."
I've just realized that I messed a line up during the video, I meant to say the Battanian capital is Ath Cafal. Dunthanach is their sacred hill where the coronations happen. Whoops!
Sturgia is the Rus kingdoms with the Northern mercenaries, Battanians is the Celts, there are arts, you at least read the developer blogs, do not mislead people because of the hype, complete disappointment and dislike.
I definitely want to play as the Empire, but I'm still trying to decide which Empire Faction. They all seem to have legitimate claims, but each can also be corrupt.
So since we got petitions for all 3, I'll run down why I say they "could be corrupt" 1) a rich patrician Senate can be for the rich instead of the people. Maybe the late Emperor was forced to support them. 2) There must be a reason the Emperor did not name his child as heir, and his wife might be an Agrippina type; a puppet master. 3) A general would appeal to the plebian peoples, and he'd be a hero in the eyes of many, but it could turn into a dictatorship, and there were times when the Legions appointed Emperors and they didn't always turn out great. I think i might support the West however.
In the meritocratic perspective : Garios has the merit to be nominated Emperor. He dedicated and fought his entire life for the Empire. What have the other ''claimants'' done so far?
I think this is the best bannerlord video I've watched so far ,a lot of good information i didn't know about the old calradia , keep going bro you're amazing . ✌

@chetnoMAN this isnt very complicated. yes, they are romans, but many things in the game, from the style of armor, to their colors, to their lore (being they were a great power that got broken up and weakened) point to them being in the Byzantine era, and in that era they mostly spoke Greek, so "ave" wouldnt fit.
