@Yousuf Hassan Let's just say that a great player need not be a good teacher. He is the GOAT but when he's talking chess, it is not in the most interesting way. PS: If I was uninterested in chess, I'd say that all GMs are boring as that would reflect my dislike, but no! Many explain in a very enthusiastic way. Or it might just be with the accent, I don't know.

@@elirubenstein5588 the pawn on g4 is protected by the bishop on c8, so the queen can't capture it. If Qh3 and fg4, the queen can come to h8, kf7, g6 and white wins the rook on e8. The reason he sacrificed the rook is because if he played Qh3 immediately black could go kf7 and the king would be able to run away. If after Qh3 Kf7 white tries to prevent the black king from running with Rde1, then black plays Rf8 and frees the e8 square for the king, so king is running away anyways. By playing Rh8 he forces the king to go to the corner of the board. In the sacrifice line if black tries to run away with kf7 after Rh8, then g6 and white wins the rook on c8.

NO WAY was that Jukka character truly 1800. He played an exceptionally strong game that no player with a true rating of 1800 could ever sustain over 40 moves or so. Very suspicious. I play at about 1900 blitz (2000 in bullet) on good days, and there is no way I would have played that well.

@billj4525
@billj4525 Год назад
In most cases that's true, but in certain positions an 1800 can last 40 moves or more, especially in very passive games and passive openings. There are examples of grandmasters losing to ratings as low as 1300-1400, so in CERTAIN RARE cases these things can definitely happen. A lot of these people cheat though, so that's more than likely it, but to say it's not possible isn't even close to true.
@scrumpymanjack

@@billj4525 can you reference the games where a grandmaster has lost to a 1300-1400 player? I would be truly amazed if these examples existed. I don't play very well but I would probably beat a 1400 player every single time ......and I would definitely lose to a grandmaster every single time.

The opening is named after the 16th-century Spanish priest Ruy López de Segura, who made a systematic study of this and other openings in the 150-page book on chess Libro del Ajedrez, written in 1561. Although it bears his name, this particular opening was included in the Göttingen manuscript, which dates from c. 1490. Popular use of the Ruy Lopez opening did not develop, however, until the mid-19th century, when the Russian theoretician Carl Jaenisch "rediscovered" its potential.
