This is a very decent radio. Comparibley beats the Midland Xtalkers I have with better range and longer battery life.. 2 watts is more than enough to reach a good mile..
Not all HT have two cells lithium ion battery. Those HT with two cells have 7.2V nominal voltage battery (8.2V full charged) and those with one cell battery have 3.6V nominal voltage (4.1V fully charged)
There is 1m coaxial cable RG-58 between transmitter and power meter. 1m RG-58 on UHF has about 0,34 dB loss which is about 8% power loss. For meter scale reading about 1.6 watts on High power, the cable loss is about 125 mW which I take into account, said that is about 1.7 watts!
