I upgraded all the screws to higher quality, black screws. It makes the unit look much better.

I ordered one yesterday, should be delivered today! Excited to try it out. My First Radio too! A friend of mine got the UV-5R a while back and he wants us to study together to get our ham license, can only listen to it for now.

Ordered two of these the other day. No idea when I am going to be able to get a license. I read it wasnt illegal to transmit under emergency situations, I would think the country is currently in a nation wide constant emergency situation. With states of emergency declared many places. I will be getting my gmrs license as this doesnt require jumping through hoops to take a test.

I’d like to get my tech license, I just have no idea how to get started. Most websites I’ve seen are very outdated and set up for a desktop computer but I don’t have that. I wish I could figure out where to start and do the whole thing on my ipad. Not sure if that’s possible

@Jake B look in the Google play store and download the ham radio exam by Roy Watson. It's free. Study the questions and the answers. Study hard for 3-5 days and you'll be ready to take the exam. I did mine last week. online! Pretty cool. Good luck.

"You are not going to beat Chinese when it comes to electronics" 🤣🤣🤣As in: nobody else can assemble parts made in Taiwan cheaper. Chinese semiconductor. technology is good for microwave ovens and vacuum cleaners at best. Larger integration stuff gets imported. Authoritarian states ALWAYS lose- AK rifle works to motivate labourer dining ditches, not circuit designer.

@@gosman949 There's no jail time or fines for hitting Ham repeaters (without a license). I've Known too many guys who transmit over Ham without licenses. One example are Truckers. That says what? FCC could care less.

I just ordered my BaoFeng BF-F8HP from Amazon. It's gone up $10 but what's funny is how sloppy China is with the advertising. On the image of the radio it says "Large capacity battery 2000 mAh, 30% larger than Stock battery. Stock battery 1500 mAh." Ummm... Ok...
